10/22/2022 - Winning_Wines Does not like this wine:

First tasting of Weathereye. I’m a big fan on Todd Alexander’s work, so I was looking forward to tasting these wines. Unfortunately, this was a big disappointment. The alcohol was strong and forward and there was a significant medicinal characteristic to the nose and palate. There are some notes of red and black currant, but beyond that it was really muted. The thing it had going for it though was a great mouthfeel. That was awesome.

These Coriolis wines from Antica Terra are seriously mind-blowing for the prices on the secondary market. For $20 a bottle on Last Bottle, this blows anything else away in the price range from Oregon (in Pinot and Chardonnay).

Precise acidity, old-world in style, rich mineralogy, and gavel undertones. Amazing long finish that roller coasters with an evolving fruit finish for 60 plus seconds. Like nothing I can ever remember experiencing. Drink 2020-2040+.

This is a real deal white burgundy, but how is it possible at this price point? An intense and complex nose that is superbly complimented by a crisply acidic and full bodied back bone. Tasted alongside some really great Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chaumées Clos de la Truffière and this was not far behind.

I'm not going to rate it, but if I were it would get an 84. I'm hoping this was just an off bottle.

Really impressed by this wine. Consumed after sitting open for a couple hours. It has great weight, acidity, purity of fruit, and balance. What a treat!

Barrel Sample tasted at the winery. At the time of the tasting, this has been bottled for only 3 months, but has had slightly over 1.5 years in barrel.
Deep purple color, silty texture, smooth-silky tannins, with more blue fruit than the 2016. A very rich and sexy wine with perfect balance. This is going to be a rock star wine.
97-100 point potential.

this bottle was absolutely firing tonight. layer after layer with both power and finesse. still some brighter red fruits along with more mature darker fruits and cassis, leather, cigar tobacco, dried meat, dried purple flower, cooked down bell pepper, wet rocks, iron, and scorched earth. open over the next 10 years

This was a recent Ex-Chateau purchase, so I am not concerned about provenance and the capsule/cork were in great shape. However, the color was extremely bricked. I've had 40 year old wine that was half as bricked as this. Anyway, I allowed it to decant for 2-hours, as the first sip was extremely tight and acidic. After the decant, it loosened up slightly, but was still pretty one-dimensionally acidic with some dark blue fruits. After another hour or more in the glass, the acidity mellowed out some, but then the alcohol started jumping out and seemed to hot.

Overall, the wine wasn't bad, but definitely not something I would spend more than $12 in the grocery store. I would probably give this 90-points during its best time, which was about 2.5 hours after opening. I was surely wishing for more here, but maybe next time will be better.
