I do not typically enjoy whites or roses. This wine is unique and delicious. If you want to try an out-of-the-box rose, this is a must try again and again...

Two hours of decanting revealed this to be a wine that will improve over time. Great dark fruit, mixed with spices and cedar with nice tannin. I will let the other bottles sit for several more years before trying another.

Decanted for two hours. Dark blue fruit and cedar nose followed by burnt/dark cherry with subtle tannin led to a wonderful wine. One bottle a year forward should be a nice process...

This wine was not as integrated as the last bottle. Outstanding character tastes that maybe just needed more time in the decanter to meld..... One more of the 2010. Will let this one sit for a couple of years....

Seavey merlots drink like Bordeaux's. Complex, brooding wines with plenty of depth and character. If you like unitary, blue fruit drinks, don't buy Seavey. More for me to drink....

For a second wine, this is a very nice wine. The fruit intensity and tannin indicates that this wine has a good ten years of nice development.

Few Napa cab’s can demonstrate the kind of mature aging that Seavey can achieve. I think that too many people look for a “fruit bomb” that is commonly associated with these cab’s. I love how the fruit is balanced with the earth and spice notes, held together with smooth tannin.

Gus was a master! His son only brings disgrace to his name. Gus gave the brand to his grandsons and his dad connived them into giving to their dad the brand to use it as a “second label”. Gus’s wines have always outshined his son’s.
This was my last bottle of his Pinot.... loved all of them and the master who created them.

Beginning to open up to its potential. Dark fruit notes that are unique to Howell Mountain frame the wine. Prominent tannin still needs a couple more years of cellar time to soften. Nice spice and cedar notes will balance out the young beauty. Will wait 2-5 years before the next bottle is cracked open (assuming I can behave...).

My last bottle... Wow! Still a lot of life left. Poured from the bottle through a filter into the large size, hand- blown Reidel Cabernet glasses.
Nose of candied cherry and milk chocolate. Almost pomegranate fruit and dark berries on the palate with some old cedar, loam with silken tannins for a long finish.

Beautiful color of an aged wine. Sour cherry and cigar box on the nose. Tannin is still prominent but well integrated. Nice spice and dark fruit on the palate. Lingers on the tongue in a pleasant way. I genuinely like how Seavey is not the typical fruit bomb from Napa. Mature, complex wine that still has years left.

I am NOT a fan of California Pinot Noirs! This wine is in a class by itself. One of the most unique, excellent Pinot Noirs coming out of the USA. The owner lets this Burgundy clone do its own thing, and the wine maker, Chris Kajani, makes this wine SHINE like few can.

Candied cherry with rose water as the prominent flavors. The barrel tasting was more Burgundy in style. I will "forget" this wine for awhile and hope that it changes with time.
