Excellent qpr imo - sour candied cherry and fresh plum. Medium bodied.

Beautiful and aromatic cassis painted on a big canvas. Wonderful to drink now.

So very light for a California Zin (compare to Ridge, e.g.). Nose is deceiving, but the palate is varietally true. But the weight is fleet-footed similar to a pinot.

Stunning. From the estate library. From Mag. Glorious development. Almost a sauternes like gold.

This is what cab is all about. Grateful to have had the opportunity to try this. From a 3L pulled from the Montelena library. Gorgeous fruit with healthy development but given the size of the bottle and impeccable cellaring I think this has only reached middle age.

Lip smacking. Grapefruit but not with a sledgehammer like I find in cheaper versions.

Well made, and ready for business esp after some air. It was good the second day.

Dom de Baumard is consistently great stuff. Plush mouthfeel and opened up into melon and a heavy a smack of orange/citrus marmalade.

Took a while to open, but when it did a lively cascade of sweet apple and orchard with a hint of cider bitterness on the finish.

Full bodied and somewhat viscous. Reticent on the nose, but a bold palate of orchard fruit and a whiff of matchstick.

Excellent and typical Alexander Valley. Dark fruit in a round package, very slight hint of green. $100 restaurant = decent qpr and much pleasure.

Tasty Zin - varietally on the money, quite approachable. Tannins present and give it structure to age, but this wine is good to go immediately.

Bright with acid, grapefruits but not with a sledgehammer like some NZ offerings. Good for a picnic.

Not sure why people have been so harsh. This has aged well and exhibits tart cherry and cola - more Dr. Pepper in a lithe package. Well made, excellent qpr.

Tasty zingy rose - tart acidity like a peach apricot jolly rancher. Really enjoying this!

TBH, age hasn't totally helped this wine. Based on my memory of a few years ago I thought it might add depth or something more interesting, but I think it has simply gotten older. Ruby color now - and I cellared this perfectly. Might be a drink now situation.

Aged beautifully. Potpourri and earth gild the dark red dried fruit.

Fruit bomb to be sure - just submit to it. A couple of hours give it much more length and depth. Dark fruits cascade. In an excellent plateau, no reason to wait.

My first Sequel with serious age. Give it 30-45 min to open up, when it does a nice cascade of dark fruits (blackberry) and spice. Short-ish finish. I have a feeling it is on the back side of its prime window but probably good here for a couple more years.

Delicious Mercurey that went with a wide variety of food. Ready to go already though I suspect it has some years ahead.

A natural offering from Dom Chassorney. Wouldn't have picked this out as typical Chardonnay by any stretch - too many distinctive aromas and a slight frizzante. But it was still compelling.

Natural wine offering from Lapierre. I have to say this was a bit off-putting. Lapierre is one of the kings of the region, but I don't like the results of this style of wine making.

Tasty Fleurie! A little funk on it, but with a bit of air it smoothed out and it was distinctive and varietally on the money.

Fabulous classic cabernet - cassis in a medium plus/full bodied package. Simply delicious. Competes well with CA wines that cost literally several times as expensive.

Would never have picked this out as a CdP blind. Sorry to say this is simply not in the category of so many other wines from this region.

Lovely fruits on this wine but it doesn't have that acidic zing or the minerality of Alsace. I've never used the word 'fat' as a descriptor for Alsatian wines (or Riesling period), but that's what this came across as.

Good in a generic kind of way. I don’t think this wine speaks of its terroir, it kind of said big production to me. But for what it is a solid weekday sip.

This one was a surprise - not typical of the lineup and a low-production vineyard, very recently born of Heitz. Interested to see where this wine ends up in a decade or so.

More interest than the house Cab, the Trailside was obviously a bigger quaff, bolder fruit and bigger frame. Lay this down for 10-15+

Sweet stuff of course with a bitter finish. Not the best showing by this producer that I've had, but if I'm honest I had had quite a bit to drink by that point in the evening and I was suffering from palate fatigue.

Sadly the restaurant didn't allow me to give this to them in advance to decant so we only caught the tail end of the bottle in it's more evolved state. Classic Cab with plenty of structure in a medium body - will last another 20 yrs easy.
