Somewhat muted nose with sage, tart cherry and a bit of leather. Med to med+ acidity, some cherry and pomegranate. A bit one dimensional and tannins are slightly astringent. Not one of Romitorio best efforts.

Deep purple color. Nose is perfumed with dark fruit and a touch of leather, hint of violet. Good acidity, blackberry, cassis and blueberry compote. smooth tannins, medium finish. Very delicious. Has a couple of years left. IMO , John Anthony priduces really nice wine at a great price point for Napa Cab.

The overall acidity, structure and tannin in this wine is surprising for the vintage. Bright , crisp red berry and pomegranate flavors with a touch of balsamic notes and a nicely integrated wine. Fairly long finish. The incorporation of the fruit of their premeir vineyards really shines through. Lots of props and respect for Giacomo Neri for producing a fantastic product in an off year.

Nice depth of color. Fine bubbles. Pear and stone fruit on the nose, very subtle. Acidity is medium -, notes of citrus, mineral, pear. Drinks as well as a nice grower champagne. Really a lovely wine.

This needs more time. Very tannic, but there is underlying fruit that will evolve beautifully over time

Really disappointed in this, maybe it is just in an awkward phase. Nose is closed down and not revealing much at all, even after breathing 24 hours. Good acidity up front, and bitter tannins that mask the fruit. Some pomegranate and rhubarb. Lacks the elegance and structure of many other barolo of the vintage. Will try again in another year

Medium color, nose with sage, truffle and some dark fruit. A bit of leather and earth as well. Nice acidity with cherry, soy and balsamic notes. Long finish. Tannins firm but not overpowering. Has some life left in it. Well structured and integrated, another good effort from Talenti

Rich, deep color for a barolo. A bit muted on the nose for me, with some violet, red fruit and a hint of menthol. Really nice red fruit component, reminds me of a Luden's cherry cough drop, with a bit of mocha and tar on the finish. Really firm tannins which pucker the mouth for a full minute. I would suspect that in another 5 or 10 years, this will evolve and be a really delicious wine; it's darn good now.

This is more of a comment than a tasting note, but this is surprisingly good for the overall lack of quality of the 2014 vintage. There is a freshness and fruit forward character that is not usually seen in Casanova di Neri, and it's a nice complement to their overall line up. The use of grapes from all of their sites has led to a really delicious and approachable wine.

Deep garnet color. Nose has a strong oak component that gives way to cedar, eucalyptus and pine resin. Medium acidity, medium full mouthfeel with cedar, blackberry and a hint of black tea. Soft tannins with a moderately long finish. Nicely structured. QPR steal!

Garnet color with some orange at the rim. Nose has some oak, tar, roses and just a touch of dark fruit. Acidic on the front end, with muted dark cherry, leather and tobacco. Very tannic with a long finish. Retry in 2027 when it is 20 years old.

I had high expectations for this wine and was underwhelmed. Has a tart cherry, licorice and cedar nose. Good acidity and some pomegranate, raspberry and pencil shavings on the palate. I expected more complexity and depth. Not my style. Recently had a BCellars Beckstoffer which was outrageous, and this pales in comparison

Nice acidity up front with some red fruit, vanilla, black olive and transitioning to a creaminess with milk chocolate and mocha. Soft tannins on the back end, and a nice long finish. Beautifully integrated wine. Would be spectacular with lamb or steak, or any smoked meat.

Some truffle, leather and dark fruit on the nose. Dark fruit and some acidity up front, cacao on the mid palate, some vanilla creaminess on the back end and still prominent tannins. I also get just a hint of black olive. This has softened and evolved since my last note 3 years ago, but remains less complex and not nearly as impressive as other amarone.

Nice brunello color with a rim of garnet at the edge. Some tar, leather and blackberry on the nose. Good up front acidity, tart cherry and pomegranate. Firm tannins. I'll agree it's a bit more one dimensional than some brunello, and it's unclear if age will allow more fruit to come through. With that, a solid effort at a good price point.

Nicely aromatic nose of leather, tar and subtle floral component. Nice acidity up front and pronounced and firm back end tannins. The palate is lovely with some dark fruit and a touch of oak and leather. This is a perfect brunello to pair with some aged pecorino or parmigiano reggiano. A well integrated and structured wine, lots of life left, but drinking so nicely now.

Garnet with an orange rim, hint of cloudiness. Truffle, tar, dark red fruit on the nose. Firm acidity up front and bracing tannins on the back. This is old school, and would cellar longer. Sour cherry and pomegranate are dominant flavors, with a little strawberry rhubarb pie, minus the sugar. It would be interesting to see if the tannins ease up and the fruit more expressive in a few years. Alas, this was my only bottle.

Lighter in color for a brunello. Aromatic nose with a touch of sour cherry, earth and forest floor. Medium plus acidity, nice fruit with cherry, strawberry that transitions to a tart cherry and some leather and tar. Firm tannins that do not overwhelm the fruit, and a moderate finish. Would pair nicely with game and lamb.

Darker color than many brunelli. Mostly earth and leather on the nose, some slight floral component. Moderate acidity, nice bright raspberry up front, with with some oak and cedar box on the midpalate, finishes with luscious plum and vanilla on the finish. Tannins grip firmly, finish lingers, but it is pleasant.

Lovely color. Subdued perfume on the nose with some tar, oak and a touch of rose petal. Nice acidity and good structure. Some licorice and dark fruit at the outset with some blueberry compote on the midpalate transitioning to a creaminess and oak with soft tannins. Nice finish, moderately long. A well thought out brunello that would pair very nicely with wild boar and steak, especially a fatty steak like ribeye.

Medium dark color with slight orange tones on the rim. Nose mostly leather with some red fruit. Nice acidity on the first taste, with some dark fruit, menthol and leather. Back end falls off rather quickly, but there are some sturdy tannins present. This may evolve over time and allow the fruit to show through. Pretty good QPR.

Deep purple color. Nose is somewhat surprisingly closed, some blueberry and leather. Some acidity up front with dark fruit initially, cacao on the midpalate and sweet tannins. This is a bit one dimensional for an amarone, does not have the complexity that I would expect. Will be interesting to see if this becomes a bit more complex in a year or two.

I seem to be trying this every 2 years, which is a fun way to watch a wine evolve. The nose still has some sour cherry and tar, but the floral component is being replaced a bit by tobacco and leather, which I find quite nice. Lots of bright acidity up from with that tart cherry, also a leather component, touch of oak and some pomegranate. Finishes with a creaminess and still big tannins. Incredibly well structured and well crafted wine. Will see if I can resist opening another for 2 more years. Based on the tannins and acidity, you can see this lasting easily another 20 years.

Deep, rich color and aromatic nose of dark plum and violet. A bit of up front heat, but great structure and complexity. Dark fruit, raisin and mocha transitioning to some vanilla and soft tannins. this is a very nice example of a well crafted amarone. I believe the other tasting notes and ratings on this are seriously off the mark. BTW, Galloni gave this wine 94 points.

Nice deep red color. Fragrant nose of a touch of tar, roses and some volatile acids. Great up front acidity, dark fruit which is a bit masked by the strong, firm and somewhat bitter tannins. But it is really seamless and well structured. This appears to be what some "old school" barolo was like: firm, structured and in need of time. Will hold this one until 2025 so I can see what it tastes like on its 20th birtday

Light in color. Not much on the nose except sawdust and alcohol, I detect no fruit. Good acidity, but after that it falls very flat. Some sour cherry and that's about all. Strikingly monochromatic. Virtually no finish except some bitter tannins. Extremely disappointing wine. I may use the second bottle I have for cooking.
