10/7/23, 3:43 PM - Is the 60 point score intentional? I think that might be the lowest score I've seen on this platform. I interpreted your comment to mean: "meh". NOTE: I realize the scale provided by CellarTracker says 50-69 Points is "Avoid" and you might just be saying you'd avoid this wine, but in practice I'm not sure many people are using that scale (I don't) and when I see 60 points I think "garbage" :)

2 hour decant in glass. Inky purple w/ dark red edge in color. Pungent nose of espresso, mulberries, raspberries, wood spice and vanillin right off the bat. On the palate: red currants, vanillin and espresso. Tannins are exceptionally well integrated already, holding structure, but only barely perceivable on gums and cheeks. Long finish of mulberries, black licorice and wood spice. Wine is notable for its balance and intensity.

Dark inky purple with deep garnet edge. Decanted for 90 minutes in glass.
Nose of huckleberry, cassis and vanilla. On the palate, there is blackberry jam and warm spice. Forceful and brooding, this probably needed more time (in the cellar--or more exposure to air the night we drank it) to fully reveal itself. Medium length finish of jam & sandalwood. Paired beautifully with roast lamb.

Popped, poured and allowed to let breath for ~20 mins in glass. It was rich, but reserved... Red berries and forrest floor on the nose. On the palate, the berry flavor was "cool" and dense--reminiscent of Bordeaux without the brightness that you normally get from Tuscan wine. Tannins were already well integrated and the finish was long. Let the wine breath overnight and on day two, notes of cocoa popped on the nose and a backnote of licorice was perceptible on the palate. Was a beautiful pair with food--in particular, candied citron (part of a broccoli salad) created fireworks. Clearly could age for 10+ more years and will be interesting to see if more time will improve the experience.

10/13/20, 5:38 AM - Addendum: left the remainder of the bottle open to breath over night and then corked. Finished the bottle two days later and it was still singing. I suspect the wine was muted cause it was simply too young at this stage. It might _need_ 10+ years of time in the cellar to fully reveal itself.
