Very light red and transparent colour. Light and pleasant on the palate - red currants and cherries. Not too acidic. Doesn't have the structure or body of better vintages but nice mid week wine.

Wonderful wine, very concentrated and elegant. Cloves and spice on the nose, ripe red fruit and plums on the palate. Very balanced.

12/29/17, 12:12 PM - That was my first out of the two bottles also - I thought it was drinking beautifully already but will probably keep my other bottle for a couple of years more for the sake of the experiment. I don't have much experience with aged burgundy, but I tasted another 2008 by the same producer at a tasting earlier this year (Pommard Premier Cru Rugiens, also wonderful), and the producer thought it would keep for another 20 years. Not sure if the same would also apply to 2008 Volnay, but there's probably no rush to drink it.

1/11/18, 1:49 PM - Let me know how you find it when you decide to open it. I went to a burgundy en primeur tasting in London this week and asked about the 2008 Taillepieds - the producer suggested to keep it for a few more years.
