Tasted at the winery from a bottle opened the previous day.
Wow- this was a hit. Nose is toasty oak, pencil shavings, with a core of energy under the surface. Flavors are round, dark fruit, solid tannins, blueberry and oregano. Seems like should be great for aging. Super long finish.

1/11/20, 10:04 AM - Yes- we got to sample both the 2017 Estate Cabernet and the 2017 True Cabernet (we didn't try the Immigrant). "Professional" scores were a bit down this year so I was very excited to try for myself.

I did find the 2017 Estate Cabernet had a bit of an off year. We tasted side-by-side with the 2016 and while still a great wine (I gave it 93+) it was a few notches below the 2016.

The 2017 True Vineyard Cabernet was amazing though. We didn't get to try it next to the 2016 but it was another big hit and given that overall 2017 Napa Cabernet seems a bit off compared to the (stellar) 2016s, this could be a contender for one of the best 2017s from Napa. It was memorable even on a day when we tasted the Robert Foley 2014 Howell Mtn Cab and the Spottswoode Estate 2016 (WA100).

Close to perfect. Nose is insane, complex, with subtle toast, touch of sweet fruit.
Flavors are gorgeous classic. Beautiful dark red fruit, supple tannins, super long finish showing dry herbs. Shows solid structure, a great candidate for long aging.

1/11/20, 9:57 AM - Sure- to be clear it should be even better in 10-20 years, but its drinking great already. We bought a bottle to have with dinner this week in Napa and the rest go in the cellar.
