Dark ruby. Nose: mix of black and red berries with a hint of truffles. Taste: black currant, blueberry, blackberry, raspberry. Integrated structure; mid-to-long finish.

Drinks well now, but not yet at its peak maturity. Nice fruit, expressive as most 2005s, but by no means an outstanding wine.

Thank you for the comment. Totally agree. To me, all good 05s still need lots of decanting

8/1/21, 9:05 AM - Decanted for about two hours and it continued to evolve in the glass to a degree. It drinks well today, but I keep a couple bottles of this wine to try again in a few years. Looking forward to opening other 05s in the near future; it took so long for them to mature! I must admit though that Pontet Canet isn't on my favorite "super-second left-bank Bordeaux" list, basically behind Cos, G. Puy Locoste, L. Poyferre, L. Bages, Las Cases, Palmer, Gruaud-Larose, etc. It's just my taste. What do you think?

Fully mature with pale-ruby color. Nose has light fruits mixed with notes of cheese and truffles. It tastes of cassis, smoked meat/prosciutto, ending with light bitterness (like grape seeds). Nice long finish.

Probably at its peak, no need to hold
