Pretty dark fruit on the nose with no one thing standing out. A beautiful medium bodied mouth feel with everything melding together perfectly. A very enjoyable bottle that was ready to drink but in no danger of dropping off.

Pretty dark fruited nose. Very well balanced Dark fruit with nothing specific sticking out. Not overly tannic but wife felt it should go awhile - I think it was a great time to be drinking it because we have a couple more.

Much mellowed since last one a couple years ago. A little mustiness on the nose was a slight distraction, otherwise wonderful drinking. P&P. More red fruited than previous bottles.

PnP with a pretty dark fruited nose - a hugely enjoyable wine with full body of silky intense dark fruit. Violets and tar and all the desirable elements. Within an hour it started to harden but gave real enjoyment after first being opened. Am very glad I have a lot more due to a $29 sale price. What a buy! This wine will improve for a very long time- although I love it now.

PNP by necessity. Pretty red/black fruit on the nose. Silky and intense mouth feel with good fruit at first but turning rather hard after an hour or so. Really nice but it sure begs for many more years.

Pretty balance of lime and honey with nice acidity giving a beautiful mouth feel. No harshness. Probably good or even better years from now but so good at this moment.

Beautiful nose initially. Pretty balance of mid weight savory fruit. Turned a little hard after an hour or so but I was satisfied that I needed to get more, especially with it selling so inexpensively relative to other 2006. Should improve for many years. At least that's what I'm counting on.

Pretty red fruit nose. Rather light body but with decent fruit and quite tasty in a low key way. Could go another couple years but doubt it would improve and it would probably be risky.

Very dark fruit but not a lot of complexity. Seems like it may be starting to lose some steam.

Not much changed from 2 years ago. Medium bodied mix of tropical/citrus fruits. Very refined with no astringency but decent intensity making a very enjoyable drink with crab.

Wow. Pure pleasure in a glass. High level of intense fruit and exceptionally well balanced. Lemons and white fruits. No astringency which I find at the back end of many otherwise nice Chardonnays. Seems like it can go a long time but this was my last bottle and I'm glad we drank it.

Very pretty wine. Intense red/black fruit in a well balanced and structured wine. Tasty. Big difference from the 2011 we had a month or so ago which tasted rather sweet and out of balance. Will get better but very good now

Not the usual Alpine for me. A little too much towards the big and fruity side. Not a lot of structure. Still tasty, though.

Starting to drink really well. A pretty medium bodied wine with a smooth and rather silky mouth feel. Maybe a little more to the red fruit side. Enjoyable from the cork pull.

Pretty nose. Had this wine shortly after purchasing in Jan 2013 and it was electric red fruit. About a year ago it was rather listless, not showing much of anything. Last night it was an attractive medium bodied wine with great balance of tasty red fruits, tannins and acidity. No longer worried about our remaining bottles. There was considerable sediment in the last pour.

Pretty nose. Wanted to open one now after reading how well it's still drinking. Wasn't disappointed. Red/black fruits in beautiful balance. Won't open another for many years, though, as it's bound to become much better - it is still quite rough.

Big beautiful fruit with everything in balance. Big tannins and acidity. All that's needed is time. Enjoyable but way too soon. Wished i was drinking this 5 - 10 years from now. Will save the rest for a long time.

Nice dark fruits. Not a young wine but still a long ways to go. Fruit was tasty but there wasn't a whole lot of complexity. A mag left and will try to save it for another 10 years.

Much rougher on opening than i expected after reading ct reviews. But with that roughness came beautiful flavors of red and black fruits and many other things that I can't remember now. At dinner with friends who don't drink wine regularly but towards end of bottle, they both took a glass and loved it - so apparently not as rough as I was thinking. Great complexity at this young age.

Big chunky red fruit. Not at all an elegant drink at the moment as it's still very rough. Good fruit though so will wait on the other bottles to smooth out with age.

Big full bodied wine but very smooth for its young age - no biting edge. Plenty of fruit and balancing acid. Well put together. Very enjoyable now but no hurry on remaining bottle.

Nicely balanced mostly towards the red fruit side. Not a lot of complexity. Not past peak, maybe it needs another 10 years. Just not a lot of enjoyment in it other than a good hit of cabernet.

Beautiful deep dark fruit and aromas right after the cork pull. A real treat at first but we drank it slow and it seemed to close down within an hour. But what a start - on this night it would have been great to have friends over, have 4 or 6 pours and get it down soon! Really pretty for awhile.

The first Carlisle that we haven't really enjoyed. I realize it's young but it seemed rather out of whack and a little hot. Wife commented that it didn't taste like the other Carlisle Zinfandels (which we love). I've heard about the Hayne vineyard for years and wanted to try a wine from the vineyard.

A mellow very well balanced wine but low key in all aspects. Our meal was probably too seasoned for the wine to show its' stuff. I will drink the next bottles with more mild food. Not nearly as intense fruit as some PB we've had.

Very tight knit intense dark berry fruit. Beautiful mouth feel. Can't remember much about our first bottle several years ago but this one argues for several more, although really nice now. Will save our last bottle for 3 or 4 years when I'm betting it'll be even better. It has everything needed to improve for many years. Loved it.

An expressive nose of darker red fruit. Red/black fruits in an elegant mouthful of well balanced wine. Very enjoyable with (and after) a homemade sausage pizza. The first Poggione we bought and first tasted. After reading some reviews lately, I was a little worried but this bottle satisfied. Very glad we have more to drink over many more years.

Beautiful wine from a half bottle. Red/black fruit nicely balanced with a long finish. Really explodes in the mouth. Loved it, especially after we'd had both the Bearwallow and FF from halves a couple weeks - think this is a step above. This Alpine had beautiful structure. Now on to the Horseshoe and another try of the Bearwallow and FF.

Dark colored with pretty nose. Big body but well balanced with the sense it could go for a long time and keep every thing together. Nice dark fruits with good acidity. Wanted to taste one early on. I'm looking forward to tracking this one over the next few bottles and many years.

Our first Montevertine. Having read a lot about what to expect, I was still a little surprised at the low level of flavor intensity. Light color with hints of brown at the edge. Seemed well balanced with the right amount of acidity but I just didn't find a lot of flavor or fruit intensity. Bottle seemed in good condition but have to believe that something was off.

Pretty dark fruited nose. Silky dark fruit perfectly balanced. A really nice wine, especially coming from such young vines (their first Pinot I believe). Stephen Reustle told me in 2011 that it was one of his 3 best wines so far. Others 2006 and 2009 Reserve syrah.

On pouring, I was a little worried as it looked (and seemed on first sip) a little advanced. No problems though as it just got better and better as the meal went on. Beautiful after a couple hours. Both citrus and tropical fruits. Really nice.

Our last bottle of this seemed like it was at peak (or a little beyond) but this one seemed as if it had years to go. Just a gorgeous mouthful. On the lemony side. GW Fins.

Lemon and lime notes. Seemingly very concentrated fruit with great balance without any harshness - smoothly intense. Rather mellow in the mouth with all the good points and none of the bad. Will obviously get better but we wanted to try one now.

Still going strong, tasting like a much younger wine. My last bottle, unfortunately, because I'd bet this would go for a long time. Lush fruit but with great acidity that doesn't seem intrusive. A great bottle. Mazen's.
