Drier style Kabinett full of slate, citrus peel and apple. Perfect with some braised pork and bratwurst.

Perfect balance between fruit and earth. Flavors of just ripe cherries and raspberries and great acid. Just about a perfect wine to go with pork tenderloin medallions in a grainy mustard and cream sauce topped with toasted hazelnuts.

Rich and earthy with great fruit flavors. Sat on the edge between sweet and savory and never tilted far to either side. Excellent with some lamb and some potatoes sauteed in duck fat. Wonderful wine with some years ahead of it.

pulled this out thinking it might be over the ill. Fully mature but beautiful in every way. Great fruit, soft tannin, and a great mouth feel. Drank with with slices of beef tenderloin. Perfect drink for a bitterly cold night.

six years out from vintage and a lot has changed for the better. Light golden color with aromas of lime and lychee. Great acid and a taste of a crisp golden delicious apple and citrus. The finish is longer. Nice wine.

crisp, tart, salty, flavorful with grapefruit and tart apple. Good length of finish and the second half of the bottle on day two was even better.

Fresh (never frozen) Alaskan crab legs just off the plane from Dutch Harbor. Perfect match.

drank as part of a small vertical of 2004 thru 2008.

This wine was very different than the other wines in the tasting. This wine was geared toward the red end of the cherry spectrum. Full flavored but lacking the depth and darkness of the other vintages. Good acid and tannin and a hint of earth and leather.

This was the groups least favorite of the five wines.

Dark fruit flavors with a hint of raspberry and leather. Good tannin and earthy highlights. Full bodied wine with a long finish.

Group had it as their second choice in a narrow vote over the 2004 but well behind the 2007.

Very good wine that was more toward the dark end of the fruit spectrum, but with some brighter notes. Fully mature and delicious to drink. Good tannin and nice length to the finish.

group had it as their third choice of the five wines.

This seemed to be a cross between the 2008 and the 2007. Lots of dark fruit but with some red fruit highlights to it. The most tannin of any of the five wines. Good balance. Finished as the fourth choice of the group.

Wonderful middle weight Bordeaux. Good cherry fruit and wonderful tannin that gave the wine a wonderful mouth feel. Wonderful sensation of earth between the nose and the taste. Good acid and a long finish. Drank the first half with some grilled lamb chops and the second half a day later with some roast chicken.

Was feeling 'off the wall' so we opened this bottle with steamed lobsters. The wine was still fresh and tart, but with a strong body underneath the freshness. The wow moment was a bite of lobster dipped in a lemongrass butter followed by a sip of this wine. The slight oxidation really hit it off with the flavor of the lemongrass. Good meal.

This wine actually tasted young. Lots of fruit - both dark and red cherries. A hint or two of cinnamon and vanilla in the nose. Full bodied but with enough acid to keep it from tasting fat. Nice finish of tart cherries - but just a touch of heat at the end. Fourth of July wine with pulled pork and the pork and wine were great together.

fully mature nose of cherries and plums just beginning to move into older aromas. Medium body, full on flavors of red cherries and berries and just enough tannin and acid to hold everything together. Considering its age - a noteworthy bottle.

Decanted for four hours. Wonderful stuff with a great nose of flowers, earth and fruit. Full flavors of dark red cherries. Still plenty of tannin, but not at all out of balance. Drinking just about perfect right now.

Drank with friends on a deck overlooking SF Bay which clouded our judgement I'm sure.

Lobsters with a couple of friends and this wine. Clean, pure and precise. Elegant, a little reserved at first then just blooming into something wonderful that was great with the lobster but would have been great on its own. Couldn't ask for more.

One of several bottles tried with a grill roasted suckling pig, but the only Riesling. Sharp and tart, plenty of aroma and great taste of citrus, apple, and other bright fruit. The wine and the light smokiness of the meat were an almost perfect match. Far and away the best choice for this meal.

Opened because I dropped another bottle on this one and a crack appeared. Decanted for about two hours. Great balance between fruit (plums and dark cherries) and earth. Medium body, good acid and unquestionably good tannin. Nice finish with some length to it. Lamb chops and a simple baked potato made a great match.
