Precious wine. Nose characteristic of vintage wine with soft plum, fresh tar, and petroleum. Palate starts with a sweet bitterness followed by dark chocolate characteristic of a CDP and mushrooms. Lovely wine. 94 points.

Smells like sunshine :). Honey and pear on the nose. Palate has charred butter but not too intense. Rounds off with a nice soothing bitterness.

Nose has that aroma that comes from the road after a heavy downpour. Along with raisins and mushrooms. Palate has candied cherry, dry leaves, and nice sweet tannin finish.

Beautiful nose of strawberries, figs, chocolate, and truffles. Complex fleshy palate with strawberries, cherry cola, some earth, and chewy tannins. Yum. At $30 a bottle this is a steal! 92 points.

Nose of chocolate and figs. Palate is fleshy with tamarind, red fruit, and chocolate, but also has a certain silky smoothness to it. Tastes somewhat like a Brunello. A tad sweet-ish.

Good wine. Particularly for the price point. Nose of lime, pineapple, and vanilla. Very refreshing nose. Palate has lime, subdued creme brulee, a litte bit of butter, and sourness at the end.

Beautiful beautiful floral nose of mostly rose petals. Palate is very complex with lot of things going on including notes of chocolate, cigar box, mushrooms, and delicate tannins. Makes you want to parachute down into into a volcano of erupting chocolate surrounded by roses in full blossom. 94 points.

Nose is a bit subdued but has fresh hay, canteloupe, and orange zest. Palate is cutrusy, but the citrus is not overpoweering. Palate also has orange and lemon peel. Good structure and minerals.

Good wine, but probably not my kind of wine. Decanted for two hours, but still a bit tannic. Nose has plum and tar. Palate is somewhat like molasses flowing over an undertone of chocolate. Good stuff, but I would rather have a good left bank at this price point.

My first German pinot. Nice floral rose petal nose with hints of cherry. Slightly tannic with a bite, but the front is quite steely, which robs of its approach. 88 points.

Opus One was indeed great. Sour cherries, black tar, and a hint of peppery bitterness in the end. Very different from the 2008, which is very mushroomy and earthy.

Beautiful nose! Kept smelling the wine for 5 minutes before taking the first sip. Nose has orange peel, a bit yeasty molasses, burnt caramel, and melons in the end. Palate has molasses, creme brulee, the right amount of citrus, and a mild bitterness on the end.

Gorgeous wine. The nose is absolutely seductive and intoxicating. I just kept smelling the wine before even taking a sip. The nose has soft plum, chocolate, leather, and cigar. The wine is slightly mellowed but with a lot of fruit in it. Mouthfeel is sexy and silky with mellowing tannins (decanted for an hour). Very exciting wine.

Burnt tar and soft plum on the nose. With hints of cherry cola. A bit of rotten eggs initially, but I expect that to disappear with decanting. Palate is jammy and salty with fleshy licorice and red fruit. There is a certain bite to this wine that makes you want another sip!

Plush nose of rose petals, plum, and cherries. Palate is lush and velvety with lots of cigar, tar, and some blue and blackberries. Still quite tannic, so it could use a couple of hours of decanting. I didn’t decant (just coravin-ed). I think the wine will get better in 5-10 years and rise to 92 points.

Wow! Blown away by this wine. First time having a vintage Napa cab from the 1980s. Nose has beautiful soft plum, tobacco, and some chocolate. Palate has plum, sour cherry, a bit of fig, a bit of dark chocolate, but they come in layers. Palate is definitely beyond the peak, but I love over-the-peak wines. 93 points!

Good champagne, but I don't get the hype. Nose is almost not there (perhaps a bit of lime). Palate is overly citrusy with some green apple and cream. Good champagne, but I would rather have the Taittinger Comtes at this price point.

Boy this wine has certainly aged well. Honey, pear, peach, and orange peel on the nose. Really beautiful “structure” to the nose.

Palate starts with tangy orange peel, then oranges, then salt, and finally some molasses. Comes in layers.

I used to grade this 90 when I first bought these 10 years back. Now I am upgrading to 92. Lovely wine.

Makes you feel like watching a hummingbird over an orange orchard covered with snow!

This is an amazing wine. Peaking right now, I would say after 24 years. Nose is very rich in cherries, dark fruit, nutmeg, and some fresh pine. Palate is very smooth with mellowing tannins and lengthy sour finish. Palate is certainly complex with some cream, some cassis, and some sour cherry. Did not decant.

Had this at a restaurant. Had them decant the wine for an hour, but still very young. Tannins were ripe and bold and somewhat interfered with the tasting of the wine. It did have the usual floral notes of a Chambolle Musigny with some berry and chocolaty flavors on the palate.

Nose has soft plum, blackberry, coffee, and notes of a fresh Cuban cigar. Very complex palate with a lot of herbs, spices, tar, cassis, and a long finish with youthful tannins and a touch of bitterness. The tannins somehwat overshadow the acid, which has definitely been mellowing. This is the first pour after 30min of decanting. Expecting tannins to mellow out in another 2 hours, as noted by other reviewers. Super super wine. 94 points.

After two hours of decanting, the tannins mellowed a bit. But more interestingly black pepper and a bit of heat in the finish become more prominent. Looks like this wine will evolve as we drink it.

After three hours, starting to get notes of chocolate.

Excellent nose of soft red berries and plum. Palate has chocolaty tannins with red cherries and faint strawberries. Some cigar on the palate too.

The palate doesn't feel very complex. At this price point somewhat disappointing. In the end, the wine just gives up without a proper structure and just gives a feeling of blah!
