Very good, but not worth the price. Maybe too early to drink ? The smell was so much better than the rather short taste / after taste. Good overall, but guys like Fulligni or Casanove deliver better value for money.

Consumed out of Magnum. Completely stunning. Gives much more taste and abundance of nose than other Nebiolo. Very balanced and at the early start of another 10+ years. Easily. Has that specific orange peel mix with crushed stones and vanilla that only Piemonte can deliver. Great value.

Top wine from a mediocre vintage. Structure, depth, nose, complexity. Delivers that Pessac touch that only Smith, Pape, Chevalier and some others can deliver. Not as stellar as the Brion's, but an excellent wine.

Please leave in the back of your cellar.. Still infant phase. Started out a bit muted, but opened up significantly over the course of the evening. Good balance, serious weight, with gorgeous red strawberry fruit that shades into black around the edges, wildflowers, and a bit of dried woody herbs. Really showcases what Ducru is capable of in a good year. Has the power and the elegance. But : needs time to develop more secondary complexity, but should age very well. Wait till 2025??

Very nice, but a bit over-priced. More fruit than balance. I miss the complexity you will sure find in Trotanoy and Eglise Clinet. After taste was just OK, and almost no secondary notes. Not my first VCC where I miss that extra layer.

The fact that I rated the 2003 a perfect 100/100 score is the only thing that made me score this 1995 a mere 99/100 score. Decanted for 3 hours. I would have believed you, if you would have told me this was a 2005. So young in the glass. Yes, super expensive. Yes, nothing is worth that price. But you have to drink it one in a lifetime. Pure Latour magic. Blown away.

Old school Cos. Very powerfull wine with a lot to offer. This likely needs more time, as it kept slowly opening up in the glass. agree : an icon, being a true powerhouse combined with class. Petal de rose, barn, pencil shavings and cassis. This still has easy 10+ years to go.

What a beauty. Right in the drinking spot. Can last for another 10 years. Easily. Full body nose, with a perfect balance between floral tones and firm vanilla / oak / roasted undertones. Ideal for people seeking magic Bordeaux, but not in-your-face like Pavie. TOP

I am still in love with this great wine from this unique wine maker. Yes, you smell, taste and experience the sometimes over-extraction. But all is in place. Not for readers looking for more soft and easy accesible wines. Can carry on for another 5+ years. Easily. Had the 2010 a few weeks ago, whic needs at least 10 more years to blossom. Not joking

Surpise surprise. In a flight with Pavie, Latour, Haut Brion and Cos, this one stood his ground. And, in an OK vintage. Extremely elegant, creamy and full. Not over complex as e.g. the 2010, but very round with class, elegance and power. Sexy MF. Top wine from Mister Bordeaux!

I must agree with the classic critics. Magic, of course. Nice nose, of course. Full body, of course. But not in line what you are used to from Haut Brion. For this price category (without being judgemental), one exepcts just that extra touch. Both the nose and the taste fade faster than expected. Still a great wine, but missed the perfection one can find in tha 1996, 2000, 2005, 2016, etc vintages.

Erik, can you please increase the Tasting Note scale to 101? Please? This must be the finest, most complete wine I have ever tasted. It has everything. The nose keeps evolving. Minute by minute. Second by second. The taste has the most profound and full palat ever. You have the perfect balance between the power of the Cabernet S, and the elegance of the Merlot. You have smoked vanilla, toast, roasted espresso, mature red fruit. Perfection achieved. Thanks Roy S, and thanks Jean. We missed you on this tasting..

Straight from bottle. A very nice and well-balanced wine. Please do not ignore the greater 2008's ! Had the same with Leoville P, Barton, etc.. Nose of black fruits, Tobacco leafs, barn and toasts. Drinks well now, and will do so for next 5 years at least.

I try to be strict and rather conservative. But wow. Blew me away. What a gorgeous hedonistic wine. Round, full, creamy and purest expression of Sangiovese. Drink now or hold 5+ years easily. Very well made.

Tasted out of Magnum. Wine is peaking perfectly well now. A rich, velvety, creamy and smooth Cos. Shows marvelous display of roasted coffee beans, vanilla, ripe black fruit and clay. All in harmony. Still needed 30 to 45 minutes to come together. Preferred over a great 2000 Pichon Lalande.

From magnum (thanks Roy!). My rating swings between 90 and 95. Decided to go fo upper limit. Great wine, but absolute maccho power house. So different from the Haut Brion (tasted simultaniously). Hard edges, sharp tannins and big wine. Not for those looking for the more feminin side of Bordeaux.

From magnum (thanks Roy!). Perfection achieved, once again. This wine is creamy and generous, is big and elegant, is powerfull and smooth. Has a 50 seconds after taste. Beautiful colour with perfect balance. Tobaco, pipe, rasberry, mokka, roasted vanilla. Table agreed this was by far best of the flight. Not in a hurry to consume, but brilliant right now.

I started the tasting with a stupid prejudice: This vintage for Evangile simply has to be on the lower score. Wrong!! What a great wine. Right at its peak. Has everything that a great Pomerol has to offer. Luscious, rich, finesse, creamy texture, nice rims on the glass. Just perfect. And I am still very shy with my 95 score!

Never experienced such a divided opinion at a wine tasting. 1/3 tought the wine was flawed. 1/3 thought it was way to extracted (what Jancis feels when drinking Pavie). 1/3 (including yours truly) thought it was just spot-on. Barn, truffle, mocca, authenticity. Can last easily for a decade or more. Please pair with serious meal. I loved it... Aftertaste lasted over 12 hours (seriously!!).

Did not give away anything upon opening. You could smell the strong tobacco and earth Lynch Bages is known for. We waited another 3 hours. This patience was awareded with a classy Lynch Bages, with hints of dark cherry, leather, vanilla and roasted almonds. Will be top by 2018 / maybe even 2020. Great!

Even better than the previous tasting note. Has surpassed the finesse and body that a Chevalier Montrachet can offer. Has this unique combination of terroir, dried apricot, Madagascar pure vanilla and toast. Creamy, silky and robust. Is approaching its apogee, and will last for 5 years thereafter. Very expensive, but worth every sip. Convinced even the most snobby red Bordeaux drinkers around the table. An art.
