Tons of fruit. Powerful yet has finesse. Well balanced. Very enjoyable.

9/24/18, 3:21 PM - In respnose to below: We opened the bottle about 30 minutes prior and then let sit in the glass for another 30 minutes or so. I think you could decant for an hour. My opinion is that this bottle will hold for another 5-10 years and beyond depending upon how you like your fruit (young or mature).

2011 Domaine Ponsot Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Cuvée des Alouettes Pinot Noir

Chambolle Musigny and Morey St. Denis from 2011 and 2009 (Beltramo's, Menlo Park): Pale. Sharp green notes. Better on the palate, though. Prettier, lighter and more airy than the 2009 Moreys with spicy cherries, sound acidity, and only minor greenness on the finish. After those 2009 wines, this was a shock; its elegance and relative liveliness veered back to the Chambolle side of the tasting. By far the better of the 2 Ponsot wines, easily outpacing the Chambolle.
