I loved this wine a few years ago, and found a bottle in the back of my "cellar" this year. Took a chance and opened for V-day with my fiancé. Sadly, this bottle was well past it's prime, and had gone off to boot. Ended up having a glass after airing out for a few hours and then tossing the rest. Let's hope the '08 is still showing...

I "won" this wine in a wine pull at the Dallas Margarita Ball this year. Had it a few weeks later at a cooking class with Chef Tre Wilcox, paired with a spiced pork loin and jalapeno cheddar grits. I didn't know the menu before pairing, but it held up really well! Tight at the beginning, but developed well over the two hours we drank the wine. Definitely a fruitier, darker pinot than I was expecting, satisfying and spicy. Drink up now, though.

Drank with dinner at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse in Dallas, TX on Valentine's Day. Was wonderful with our filets (bone-in Oscar for him, traditional for me). Traditional Cab Franc with the pepper and spice notes, but also big black fruit and a little red fruit on the palate. Medium bodied, nice round tannins, opened up really nicely over the course of a three-hour dinner. Delicious, wish I could track down some more!"

Primarily Australian Shiraz with some Cabernet thrown in, this wine was spicy and flavorful. I ran it through my Vinturi and waited about 15 minutes for it to develop out of the bottle. Classically Australian on the nose: eucalyptus, red berries, dark chocolate, and some mint. On the palate it was bright and zippy! Sour cherry, raspberry, tomato, leaves, and a slight tobacco fish. Medium-full body, high dry tannin, medium-plus acid, and a medium length finish. Really well-balanced!

Really enjoyed this wine. Took a bit to open up, will probably grab a few more bottles to cellar for a little longer. Big plum and berry notes on the nose, with some smoke, oak, and sandalwood. On the palate this had blackberry, blueberry (jammy), licorice, slight oak. This was well-rounded, medium-full bodied, medium tannin, and smooooooth. It had a good medium/long finish. I was a big fan.
