2019 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Nebbiolo

Medium (-) ruby red colour. Pronounced nose with strawberry, red cherry, licorice, black pepper, forest floor, walnuts, violets and mushroom. Pronounced taste of strawberry, red cherry, licorice, black pepper, forest floor, mushrooms and walnuts. Long and dry finish. High acidity. Medium (-) tannins. Full body. A very good Langhe Nebbiolo. Needed three hours to open. Drink now or over the next eight years. Goes well with beef, game, lamb or mushrooms.

Tasted over three days, really needs air. Opens very light, petillant with pronounced acidity, settles ever so slowly with a little more body, plenty of sexy Grenache, still very light on its feet, en danseuse.

2/8/23, 9:48 AM - "Petillant"? Do you mean that there's a fizz in the wine?

A notch up from the last bottle, the purity on this wine is mind blowing for a ‘basic’ Chianti Classico. Structured tannins, waves of dark red fruit, cedar, herbs, generous mid palate leading to a layered and structured finish. Not sure I know of a better CC?

12/1/22, 10:10 AM - I can only agree with you, it is very hard to find a better CC. In my book this is the best non-riserva out there.

Aged for 20 mths in roughly 50/50 barriques & botti.
Lower general elevation (for producer, yet is still above 300 mas). Retails around 12 EUR:

Soils mainly clay and galestro with vines planted 1969 (if I'm not mistaken). These aspects should give this wine a bit more concentration and structure (vs their Filetta di Lamole).

Mix of red and black fruit (raspberry, black cherry) with a round and fruit-focused character. Getting at particular aromas, nothing sticks out.

It has immediate and fresh acidity and a solid fruit concentration. The acidity howevers overpower it on the finish (might be more balanced with some age).

(tasted at Operaterassen in Stockholm)

10/24/22, 7:08 AM - I think your price estimate is a bit on the lower side (or you got a very good deal)? I've only seen this wine for more than €20...

Someone said ’captivating’ - that is what this Eben Sadie produce is, enough said. Semillon at its best. Nose dominated by floral aromas, grape, melon, lime, some herbs. Palate structured and refreshing, medium+-bodied, superbly fruit-driven on the exotic fruits style with nutty flavours and saline, saline, saline. Finishes brilliantly, flavours remains for minutes.

Simply stunning!

8/7/21, 3:16 AM - Do you think this will benefit from waiting a few years (as someone else wrote)? I'm asking since I don't want to open the only bottle of this I've got too soon...

Straw/medium gold in the glass; quite sweet on the palate with notes of grapefruit, pear and apples; medium-low acidity and almost nonexistent tannins; light-bodied, slightly fizzy (frizzante). Thought it would have paired well with Chinese food but ended up being too sweet for me. Much more a dessert wine.
  • MBerzell commented:

6/2/21, 8:28 AM - I think you might have had the wrong expectations for this wine; it is a dessert wine. Preferably with strawberries and whipped cream - I think it is a delight!
