Needs time to settle done. Very ripe tones still present in spite of close to two hour decant. Might be a function of the hot vintage.

Strong second wine that is drinking excellently with food. Had wagyu yakiniku with it which really helped balance out the still very present tannin. So much structure and fruit. Many years ahead.

Wow this has really come around since I first tried it two years ago. Nose was explosive after a short half hour decant. Balanced and still somewhat fruit forward. Good structure, though tannins starting to resolve. Didn't take detailed notes.

May have been a bad bottle. Was quite flat, compared to previous bottles that were a lot more expressive on the nose and palate.

Didn't quite like it at first despite a 2 hour decant, but got much better with time. Very closed right now, so a little out of balance at first. Alcohol hits you in the face. But the structure is there for all to see, so should age well. With some air, the fruit and hints of dark chocolate starts showing. Long long finish.

This is drinking so well right now. Nose is bursting with strawberries with cream, cherries, red fruits. Rounded on the palate with a precision and purity to die for. Hints of graphite and a little burgundian sauvage. Long finish.

Everyone seemed to like it, but not quite for me. Nose was typical sour cherries and flowers, but alcohol was very present. On the palate, overripe fruit with hints of prune / raisin. Not my type of wine.

Took a while to open up, then eucalyptus notes on the nose. Red fruit. Thinner on the palate than I expected, but medium body can hold it's own, with hints of iron that I find to be typical of St Estephe. Tannins almost fully resolved. Solid, but slightly underwhelmed for a Cos.

Very nice. Lots of red fruit, especially sour cherries. Floral nose. Long finish. Still quite tannic and can age.

Just seemed slightly off balance. high acidity and lack of the typical rose and tar one would expect from a barolo.

Nose was first rate. intense dark berries with hint of vanilla and some green. But palette and length was disappointing and probably indicative of the vintage.

Alcohol comes on a big strong today, but clearly has the stuffing to age for years. A little bit of sauvage today, with a long finish of red berries. Wishing i had held it for a few more years.

Nose was underwhelming out of the bottle - dumb phase? But opened up slightly with about 2 hours in decanter. Dark fruit profile on the palette. Was much more forthcoming with air. Precise, with strict tannins. Suggests can age for years to come. Wait.

Regret drinking this too early and without decanting. Got much better in the glass. Gained complexity in the nose. Sour cherries, earth. Initial taste was pure concentrated dark fruit and overwhelming vanilla and cream from the oak. Long finish and fine tannins suggest a long life ahead.

Probably opened too early. This has bones but today it was a little too primary. Vanilla and cream notes from the oak overwhelm but clearly has fruit, cassis and plums beneath the surface. Should get better with time. 90+

Good nose of dark fruits after an hour decant. Concentrated and full bodied for the 2011 vintage. Tannins are mostly resolved. There is a hint of green and herb which is not unexpected for this vintage. But precision and focus show the quality of winemaking here. Can age further, but good to go with some air now.

My last and best bottle. Margaux floral aromatics bursting from the glass without a decant. Tannins very well resolved. Smooth velvet mouth feel with lots of cool blue fruit. This was excellent.

Decanted for two hours. Lots of potential. Bursting with red fruit, sour cherries. Slight raisin note that some may find to be over ripe, but I liked it. Lots of tannins, so give it time.

Wow. Rich, honeyed, melon and peach notes. Yet just enough acidity to balance it perfectly. Off-dry and complex. Long long finish. Excellent with foie pate and ocean trout canapes. Marcel Deiss is a maestro. As his staff mentioned during my visit to the winery, the grapes do not matter. All about the terroir.

still young, with unresolved tannins. But clear concentration and very good acidity that suggests it has a long long way to go. Red fruits and hint of flowers on the nose, but more muted at this point.

Good QPR and will buy more.

Strong core of red fruit. Sour cherries, classic Brunello. Compelling nose. Tannins fully resolved, giving a rich silky mouthfeel. Unfortunately, alcohol still has a bit of bite on the back end, if not warrants a higher score. Drink now.

Don't understand why both the pros and CT community continue to underrate this wine. Drinking excellently now, and consistent with my earlier notes. Paulliac to the core - lead pencil, tobacco, hint of eucalyptus. Core of black fruit and sweet fine tannins.

Perhaps entering a dumb phase. Muted on the nose initially, though creamy lead pencil with lots of time in the glass. Can sense the fruit core deep within, but just lacking oomph on the front palate. Something watery about it. Not much tannin, and lacking acidity and tension. Makes me doubt how long it can last.

Maybe this has started to come around, given that my assessment is quite different from those before. Fresh and energetic. Good lift and acidity still present. Nose spilling with sour cherries, almost like a BdM. Sweet fine tannins that are starting to resolve. Spicy bite and linger on the finish. There's a sauvage character to this. Give it a couple more years and it should come together nicely.

Has the bones to age for a long while. Concentrated and dark. Lots of cocoa, coffee, chocolate tones. Perhaps should have given it more air (decanted for 2 hours) as it got better and more complex with time in the glass. Currently lacking some of the flamboyance one would expect of the 2009 vintage, and didn't quite find the minerality of the Graves. Still excellent, but perhaps entering a bit of a dumb phase. Either wait or give plenty of air.

I'm really liking the 2013s despite the poor vintage. Others may call it lack of stuffing - I see it as elegance and freshness that many modern Bordeaux has forgotten in favour of new world style fruit bombs. Medium ruby. The nose is pretty, red fruits, smoke and hint of vanilla spice. Palate is fresh with strawberries, cranberries, a touch of green vegetal note. Tannins are present but not overbearing. Drink or hold.

Slow-oxed 2 hours. Dark almost purplish in colour. Nose of red fruits and menthol. Full bodied with sweet tannins, full of red fruits, spice and black pepper. Hints of vanilla from the oak that is well integrated. No green herbaceous notes that one might get from Syrah. Velvety mouth feel. Well balanced and good to drink now. Excellent QPR.

Young, but drinking well as other tasters have noted. Slow-oxed 1 hour, and got better and better in the glass. Bouquet was slightly reticent at first, but with coaxing, one gets a complex nose of red berries, sour cherries, earth, and floral notes (rose petals / lavender?). Palate is full-bodied and concentrated, with slightest hint of alcohol. Vanilla notes from oak but well integrated, and very tuscan / BdM sour cherries and acidity. Long finish with interesting afternote of black tea. Acidity and tannins suggest potential to age for many years to come. Won't touch my second bottle for another 5+ years.

Decanted for an hour, which is probably not enough for a young 2010 BdM. Muted bouquet. Palate was much better, with concentration and stuffing to suggest that this will age well. Red fruits, primarily sour cherries. Good balance. Heavy mouth-puckering tannins at this juncture. Medium finish. 90 today, but with potential for more in time.

Amazing nose burst out of the glass. Sweet red fruits. Does not quite follow through on the palate, which is light and a tad short on fruit, but excellent acidity and clean focused minerality. No heat and tannins resolved. Medium finish. This is drinking well now, but perhaps not with heavy food. Great QPR.

Consistent with previous note. More dark fruits, especially cassis this time. A bit more tannins, though quite fine. A little green undertone with more heat on the backend. Still a fine drink and will improve as it comes together in next few years.
