Easily bested the ‘88 side by side. Notably more fruit remaining with well integrated tannins and a nice long finish. This still has a little gas left in the tank but is firmly in its drink now window imo if you want the fruit components to still play a primary role in the show.

Drink now as she’s on her way out. Hints of red fruit still remains on the front end but quickly transitions to heavy earthy notes with sautéed mushroom and a tinge of black olive on the finish. A little tannin remains but overall very mellow. Tasted next to the ‘89 and paled in comparison but still delicious for the tertiary notes.

Hedonistic indeed. Better after opening up for a bit with a little chill. Pronounced tannins still naturally but well integrated with the fruit and acidity. Needs another 3-5 to continue to meld.

Drinking well even with only ~1 hour air in bottle. Definitely would’ve benefited from more air.

Drank lightly chilled, opened ~1-2 hours. Deep inky purple. Concentrated dark black currants and cassis, chalky, well integrated tannins. Medium+ finish. Nice acidity. Subtle oak. Just really elegant fruit. Should age extremely well.

Uncorked and let sit for ~6 hours early then decanted another hour prior to first sip. That made all the difference in the world. Glad I read the tips below. I’ve really enjoyed the 2014 cabs I’ve had, and this was no exception.

This was a great surprise. Glad I pulled this out for a long road trip. Drinking this whole camping just isn’t fair.

Decanted for about an hour. Continued to open up after that. Will definitely age well. Was even better day 2. Tannins resided significantly after a few hours and on day 2. Still plenty of backbone though with delicious black and red fruits. Nice balance medium acidity. Some leather/tobacco flavors. Will probably wait another 6 months for the next one and then work through the rest over the next 2-10 (doubt I’ll actually wait that long).

Very fruit forward. Strong pineapple flavor. Interesting definitely but perhaps needs to mellow a bit more.

Gonna give these a few more months in the bottle. Definitely needs to breathe a little first. At 15.5% it definitely shows. Get yourself to the grill though and you’ll be plenty happy with this one.

Drinking really well at this stage imo when paired with a rich steak. Medium+ finish with rich black fruit, still subtly present velvety smooth tannins with good acid backbone. Could still go another 5 years easy but feel free to drink away.

My new favorite winery. Syrah and Riesling. Never would’ve thought these would go so well together. That peppery Syrah is really well balanced by the juicy sweetness of the Riesling. Really wild stuff

Not quite as good as the Hinterman but still delicious. These are both begging for sun and a patio.

Price has gone up making this less of a value but get it on sale and it’s totally worth it. From the Flora Springs family. Airways a crowd pleaser.

Not much going on here - but smooth and easy drinking on a weeknight without any heartburn if you don't finish the bottle.

Decanted an hour and drank over 2 days - extremely enjoyable if unremarkable. Tannins are mostly smoothed out, agree there’s a lot of extraction here but still balanced with the fruit and acidity. Was just what I wanted for a steak on the grill.

2nd bottle - last popped in Sep-17. Still a powerful wine. Decanted 1-2 hours. Needs it. Still full throttled but balanced at the same time. Alcohol is pretty high here. Probably 15%. Going to let my last couple bottles rest for another 3-5.

An hour decant later, Sam and Nancy have outdone themselves with their 2nd vintage. Such a bold, complex Pinot with delicious perfectly ripe fruit and a loongggggg finish. I can't wait to see where these go over the next few years.

I freaking love this wine. Had a tasting at an event with their sales team and was hesitantly sold. Finally opening a bottle a few months later I felt instantly rewarded for the value of this Beckstoffer fruit. Velvet tannins. Medium plus finish. Silky bouquet.

Delicious blend - made by the late Denis Malbec, who apparently was the cellar master for the Bordeaux First Growth Chateau Latour, having followed in his father's footsteps who was also cellar master at Chateau Latour, as well as his grandfather who managed the vineyards there as well. I definitely agree with all the reviews that this is Napa First Growth quality stuff. Paired extremely well with lamb at dinner. Was a hit with all.

Solid sangiovese from San Gimignano--always a great reminder of the gorgeous view from their veranda overlooking the countryside at our tasting at the vineyard. Paired well with a rustic roasted chicken with carrots and sauteed green beans.

Silky smooth - absolutely loved this. Decanted for about an hour and drank first before a Venge Family Reserve 2014 Cabernet. The Venge needed a few more hours but this was singing right off the bat. Silky tannins, bright fruits, great balance. It’s going to be real hard not to drink the rest of my stash right away.
