Takes at least an hour to open up. Good concentration of currant, plum, and raspberry fruit. Some cedar and eucalyptus. Occasionally a floral note. Luxurious, velvety Margaux texture. Still some tannin left to resolve. Acidity and alcohol are well balanced. Lacks the body and complexity of the grand vin but a very nice second wine.

    12/15/18, 3:56 PM - I would give it an hour to an hour and a half and then drink it slowly to see how it develops. Otherwise, you could give it two hours and drink quickly.

Quite hedonistic. Definitely has further room to mature. Very vibrant red fruit. Initially perceived as a saccharine strawberry sherbet but becomes more of a cherry liqueur. Shows some black tea and Burgundian sweatiness. A touch of a caramelized note and maybe slightly minty. With time, some animal skin, showing the appellation. Silky texture with almost fully integrated tannins and medium-plus alcohol, but significant remaining acidity.

    3/19/18, 2:27 PM - I don't remember, but I would guess that I decanted a red Burgundy of this age primarily for sediment and did not give it much time in the decanter before pouring the first glass. I suspect that the bottle was open for about 2 hours before it was finished.
