Way too oaky for me and my guests taste.

11/15/20, 11:59 AM - Thank you for the feed back. The nose was fairly descriptive and the palate confirmed the oak impact. I agree that it might be sometimes difficult to differentiate between grape and barrel tannins but the nose gave it away for me.
There is certainly a variance in the oak tolerance from person to person. Mine obviously is on the lower region of the scale.

90+ Punkte.

What an interesting wine. 100% Colombard which seems to be made of the aromatic bouquet of an New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, racing acidity of a cold climate Riesling and a finish resembling a gently spiced Gruener Veltliner from the Weinviertel. On the first day and I thought I would never be able to say that, the acidity is just overwhelming. It easily competes with CLR in it's efficacy and is just slightly higher priced with the advantage of being drinkable. Give it some air and everything start to settle down. The mid palate takes on more viscous elements and the lively character starts to fade. It's lacking complexity but who cares for Can$12 you are not expecting a whole lot and are in for an interesting ride.

8/13/19, 8:59 PM - I just played on the high acidity level and compared it to a common household cleaner called CLR and its ability to remove calcium and lime stains. Not meant in a derogatory way - I was just surprised by the high acidity level. Lovely wine!

If you enjoy tart Rieslings you will like this one. Grapes from Twenty Miles Bench and PEC were blended and offer notes of white fruits and mineral tones. The palate is mineral driven with tart grapefruit and hints of citrus. The residual sugar is definitively noticeable but does blend in with the available acidity. Came in at 9.8% alc. Wonder how much different it would have been with a bit more time to ripen.

7/1/18, 9:37 PM - Longer hang time will ultimately result in higher fruit levels and sugar content which will result in a fuller body. Weather has the last word and the wine maker will have to make a decision to determine the most optimal picking time to balance ripeness, alcohol level and risk of botrytis and other humidity related diseases.

Drank over 2 days with initial 2 hour decant. Deep ruby colour with purple hue. Modern style wine showing ripe black fruits (2010 was a great vintage with well ripening grapes - this might seen a bit too much sun). On the mid palate it falls a bit short but makes up with a long finish which I contribute to its generous oak treatment. Could not detect any significant difference on the second day. Overall a nice wine I could see myself bringing as a gift to some of our none wino friends which prefer less acidic wines. Comes in a heavy bottle - first appearances count.
