I actually opened this bottle 4 months ago but just posting now. This was one of the most full bodied powerful Bordeaux wines I’ve ever had. Every sip was absolutely full of blackberry, tobacco creme de cassis, hints of spices and truffles. This wine was not cheap but worth the money.

37 years old and still going strong!! Decanted for an hour, beautiful aroma on the nose full of Carmel tobacco with a little cherry on the mid palette. Paired with New York strip that brought out even more flavors I’m so glad I still have another bottle.

I wasn't really sure how this was going to turn out, I bought this at auction not too long ago, saw there was a Trader Joe's price sticker for $8.99 from back in 1967, but the color looked awesome. So I said what the hell lets open it and see what happens, I took the capsule off and there was mold on the cork, this looks promising! Pulled the cork off, it was soaked in wine but came out nicely. I took a nice big whiff and it smelled of wet Mushrooms and Graphite, interesting combo. So I poured my first glass and it tasted like it smelled, but the important thing was it didn't taste like it turned so I knew there was potential. 5 minutes later I took my second sip and it was a totally different wine!! From then until my last sip it was one of the best bottles I had ever drunken. It was funky as hell but undertones of strawberries and florals along with truffles and just the most earthy tones ever. The French know how to make wine that can age!!

Took a minute to open up but once it did the flavors were very robust and kinda tangy but very good all around experience.

Good Cali Syrah, funky on the nose, but fruitful on the palate, a very good wine for the price.

For the money, this was one of my favorite Napa Cabs ever. Ripe fruits all over the palate, flavors stayed in my mouth for a long time. Grab some if you find a bottle, you wont be disappointed.

This was my 1st 2005 vintage for a Bordeaux and it did not disappoint!! Very ripe fruits, tannins were there but subtle. Let it sit out for an hour and the flavors will pop on your palate very nicely!!

There are few Cali wine producers that have been doing this for a long time and stick with more traditional concepts, Chateau Montelena is of that few, which is the reason why they produce such great wines that are not only consistently great but can age with the best of them. The 91' vintage was out of this world!! Full of flavor and going strong, this vintage can keep going for at least another 10 years but is in a great spot right now. So if anyone has a bottle drink up!! or wait for that special occasion you wont be disappointed.

a little acidic high alcohol content, could use a few more years to age but otherwise very intense flavors that surround your palate in a very nice way.

I didn't spend much on this bottle, and for good reason. Its probably just too new but there was not much flavor to this wine at all. If anyone has this vintage in their cellar i would wait a a few years it might be get better.

Very Closed off to start but opened up after a 2 hour decant, hints of sweet berries and floral scents. A good wine to have a nice big steak with.

Wow!!! This has everything you could ever ask for in a Cali Pinot. Fruit bomb with velvety texture and a nice mellow finish. This wine is hitting its peak for sure, drink up!!

I'm not sure why people think this wine is past its prime, I opened a bottle a couple days ago and it was full of life. Id say if its not hitting its peak now it will in a couple of years and still has another 5 to last. Full of dark fruits and intensity, almost like a high quality Chateauneuf du Pape. Grenache qualities but with the finish of a high quality Cali Cab. Decanted for about 2 hours, it really started to open up after the first hour and it was off to the races from there. Such a beautiful wine I'm stoked I have another bottle!

very young, not much flavor yet even after a 2 hour decant, if you have a bottle save and don't open for a long time.

Amazing second tier wine from this wine maker, soft velvet texture with robust fruits on the palate, 2009 was a great vintage for most Bordeaux wines, and this bottle was no different. If you are looking for an affordable Bordeaux that you can have an awesome experience now, then this is the bottle for you.

Not my favorite Malbec I have ever had perhaps because its so young. Still full of tannin's and very closed off even after much time decanting. Robust in flavor but wont show for many years.

10 years old for this vintage is too young to open. Although it had great aroma and flavor it was very acedic to the palate, but surprisingly the tannin's were somewhat mellow. This wine will taste amazing giving it at least another 5-10 years.

Even though a little young, this vintage had it all!! I let it decant for about an hour before pouring my first glass, so much flavor and balance, I wanted to open another bottle but the fear of being hungover stopped me.

Balanced well, but left me a little flat on the palate, not the best Burgundy I've ever had, but would buy more if the price was right.

Very full bodied wine, full of fruit and strong aroma. Strong presence of licorice on the palate. If you are someone who hasn't experienced much southern Rhone wines you might want start with something that isn't packed with so much Granache. I highly recommend a long decant for this wine so it can settle down before you drink it.

So far one of my all time favorites, So much flavor and balance to this vintage. Decanted for an hour before my first glass and I just wanted to chug the whole bottle. Second glass was about 2 hours from opening and it was even better than the first glass. The evolution of this wine throughout the night was phenomenal. Had some a filet and roasted veggies with this, and paired perfectly. This vintage should be enjoyed now if you have a bottle.

Full of flavor, but a lot of sediment so make sure you filter this wine thoroughly before drinking. Even though drinking great now, its still young you can for sure wait a few more years before opening.

Was really looking forward to experiencing this wine, but when the time came I felt a little disappointed. Upon opening it had a great aroma and tasted like tannin's had definitely settled. I let it decant for about an hour, but there was no change, nothing had opened up like i was wishing for. Had my first glass after about an hour and it was good but not great. the flavors left my mouth very flat and unsatisfied. This vintage has for sure past its peak so if you have a bottle drink now don't wait for a special occasion.
