A rather harsh rating, but this really fail to deliver what I was legitimacy hoping for. An inelegant and greenish pinot with slightly bitter tanins, medium bodied, and feeling a bit disjointed. I usually love Rousseau, I have a great souvenir of a 2006 Mazy (so-so vintage too), but this was not drinking well. I tasted the wine by myself over two days (pregnant wifey) and it did not get any better on day 2. Wine came directly from the domaine a short while ago.

As a few years back I have not been impressed by this wine at all. It lacks the usual complexity and elegance of DRC wines, especially in a vintage that was kind to red wines. Light bodied, and somewhat incomplete. Overall a decent wine, but a real letdown considering the maker and the vintage.

Oxidized. Amazing how drinking Leflaive have become a variant of playing Russian roulette. Every time I drink an oxidized Leflaive I promised myself to quit Leflaive, but occasion arises comforting me in that prospect. If that domaine had a little more self-esteem they'd openly offer to replace the amazingly high amount of dead bottles they were unreasonable enough to put on the market. So unbelievably unreliable and arrogant to consumers...

Decent wine, from an era that seems centuries old. hints of brett, and nevertheless enjoyable. Old school in style with tertiary aromas of leather, earth and mushrooms, not much fruit but the structure is holding up well. Soft tanins, a bit short on the finish. Clearly not up to the current standards, but a nice example of what average wines were a while ago in so-so vintages. I do not think it will benefit from a further aging.

A good wine, but clearly past its prime. It still has a nice structure, but little fruit left and some slightly dusty tanins not fully resolved. Good fun to try, but clearly not an impressive delivery for this excellent vintage.

Delicious champagne, while still young with real upside ahead. Refined bubbles, creamy and delicate texture, good balance, decent depth. Very enjoyable now, but I suspect it will develop more weight in the coming years. Drink some now, and hold some as well to assess the evolution process that should benefit this very nice champagne.

A delicious pinot from Champagne (probably the finest?..), that overshadows many burgundy pinot noir from famed producers. This has a lovely energy, a beautiful freshness and delivers aromas of red berries, rose and violet, with hints of cherry a bit of spices too. This is quite long and elegant, with refined tanins and a nice acidity that gives this sensation of freshness and tension making it truly sapid on the finish. Impressive, and a rather excellent value. Should age rather gracefully for 10 more years I think. Drunk at Flocons de Sel with the outofthisworldish cuisine of Emmanuel Renaut.

A truly delicious Vouvray. Vouvray is a not so sought-after (yet) appellation I tend to like more and more. Citrus notes, white flowers, beautiful tension with crisp and energy, salinity. Long and creamy with a lovely balance. Rather impressive for the price point. This could well be the best dry Vouvray I ever tasted. Will age gracefully for a decade, possibly more.

Delicious Vougeot blanc, displaying a nose of butter, cream, flint and sesame seed in a very Coche-like style. Dense texture, nice tension, impeccable balance. I would have loved a little more length on the palate, but I very much enjoyed this wine though.

Delicious d'Auvenay, quite impressive for a simple villages (yet rather unimpressive for the price tag if you ask me).
Reduction on the nose, that will open up after 20 minutes in the glass. Aromas of popcorn, matchstick and sesame seed. Thick texture, almost oily. Quite impressive texture, maybe slightly over-oaked but very balanced. Full-bodied, muscular and quite demonstrative on the palate (while the nose was initially a bit muted). Lacks a bit of elegance and subtlety, but very enjoyable though when not taking into account the ridiculous market price.

A masterpiece. First encounter with the Domaine, and I must say I was totally impressed. This Bienvenues was very Coche on the nose, with loads of match-stick, flint, roasted sesame seeds, and very complex on the palate, with that creamy/buttery mouthfeel. It possesses a very strong energy, that makes the wine vibrating on the palate. Very long, very focused and tranchant like a razor blade. Perfect balance, incredible purity. This will age gracefully for 5 to 10 more years. Loved it.

Over 1500$ market price. I think about one third of the Domaine Leflaive I opened these last 5 years were oxidized. Has any another Domaine in Burgundy produced so much premox wines?..

A decent but very simple showing of this Chassagne from a producer I very much like. Well made, but lacks pretty much everything that makes the difference between a regular drink and a good wine. Almost felt diluted, very short length, simple aromas... I've had much more impressive generic burgundies from various domains. Unimpressed. A very ordinary wine.

A glorious champagne that started to peak a couple of years ago and will easily stay on its maturity plateau for 10 to 15 more years. Creamy, complex, balanced, focused, it possesses everything one can expect from the very finest Champagne can offer. very refined bubbles, incredible energy and tension. True work of art.

A delicious Chambertin, although not delivering the usual complexity Domaine Rousseau normally delivers. Charming but quite light on its feet. Lovely mouthfeel, nice freshness, delicate tanins, medium length. A very good wine that just falls short of my expectations.

Brilliant wine, very dense with a close to perfect balance brought by a good acidity, perfectly polished tanins and whiffs of minerality. Very complex, with a chiseled texture. Long, deep, fresh, elegant, intense and mineral. Still quite young, this should improve over time but is already a gorgeous drink.

A nice wine overall but clearly overshadowed by 2010 Pichon Baron on that occasion. It is very concentrated, but without enough freshness and tension to balance the thick texture. Very enjoyable though, and yet underwhelming given the hype around this particular vintage of VCC. Drunk at Mirazur with stunning food of Mauro Colagreco.

Really loved this wine. Once reduction has gone, this is truly majestic with its vibrant energy and sharpness, its aromas of apple, honey and peach, its scents of petrol and lilys, and its very sharp and elegant structure. Long, deep, fresh and balanced. A superb riesling in a nice drinking phase.

Good but not great. A pretty poor (yet relative) showing given the estate and the vintage. Nicely integrated, reasonnably complex, but fails to impress as it lacks a bit of personality or sould. Not enough energy, not enough elegance, not enough freshness. A very nice wine though, but hey this is DRC so one can only expect to feel a special emotion, even with the range entry level.

A delicious Les Clos which seems to be in its sweet spot. Creamy, with hints of lemon, butter, honey, apple, lovely concentration with a nice sharpness too. Long and balanced. Lovely minerality, superb tension, real effortless depth there. A vibrant and profound Chablis, that will hold well for a long time to come.

A wine that leaves me intrigued and skeptical. It seems too young on the nose, but slightly evolved on the palate. This bottle came from the cellar of a 3 michelin stars restaurant, where it has been stored since delivery in 2000, so I guess it is truly pristine provenance and storage. We made sure the bottle was opened 6 hours before dinner, and decanted 1h30 hour before service. Slightly austere and monolithic on the palate with vegetal hints and earthy notes. Lacks the energy and balance I would have expected. It is powerful and long, but without the structure or the acidity that could show the wine is tasted at a too early stage?

Overall a nice wine, but far from its reputation or from the depth and elegance one can find with other Pomerol from this top vintage.

Delicious, while still young. I was a bit concerned at first because of the deep golden color that made me think this could be premox but luckily it was not. It is rich, balanced, creamy and very long, with a bright acidity and lovely floral aromas. It has a long life ahead, but it already delivers much pleasure.

A bit of a disapointment considering current market price and previous experiences of this unicorn wine. On this occasion the wine was a bit too oxydative, and although some can enjoy the style I thought it was over the top, with the oxydation overshadowing the aromatic structure . Not sure whether it comes from the wine or from this particular bottle, but this was miles away from my last 02 Selosse. Will I let my other bottles age or will I drink them soon, this is a serious dilemma...

A very nice young St-Emilion, that still needs to digest its oak though. It is full bodied and balanced, with a creamy texture. Aromas of vanilla, plum, cherry and cocoa. I would have liked to see the minerality come through, but hey it's damn easy to drink and enjoy. Would love to revisit in 10+ years.

Good structure with a nice acidity that brings tension and freshness. Pretty long and elegant in a very natural and effortless manner. Not quite as precise as modern era vintages, but charmingly complex and elegant.

A lovely Richebourg which is at its peak. Very refined, elegant, smooth, fresh silky. Not quite the concentration or the complexity of a 05 La Tâche drunk on the same day, but it is deliciously juicy with a satin like texture and a rather nice length considering the relative weakness of the vintage.

A very nice wine, concentrated and balanced with a nice freshness. Ripe aromas of blackcurant and boysenberry, still slightly under oak influence, quite focused with smooth and well integrated tanins. Delicious now, after 1 hour decantation, this will clearly hold well for a longer aging (would say 10/12 years easily from now). Would love to taste it again in a couple of years.

A very nice puligny, but I must confess I was expecting a little more and was therefore slightly disapointed. I am not familiar with Coche's Puligny, and on this occasion I hesitated with a 2012 Rougeots that was identically priced on the wine-list. Should have gone for the Rougeot I think. This is very nicely balanced, has great purity and freshness, but I did not get the wow effect I had on almost every occasion tasting a Coche white wine. It simply lacks depth and complexity, while making a most decent Puligny villages ultimately.

Good but not great (for the Coche standards that is).

Not really convinced here. loads of stewed fruits on the nose and on a flabby texture on the palate. Not sure whether it comes from over-ipeness or over-extraction, but this was disjointed and not charming at all. Lacks balance and tension. Poor showing and terrible value.

A very young yet promising Musigny that ticks every box: pure, long, deep, wrapped in silky tanins, fresh and intense. It will only get better with a 10/15 years aging, but it was interesting to seize the opportunity of a decent pricing on a 3 michelin stars wine list to give it a try. Patience will be rewarded, but it is already a pleasure to drink even if it does not deliver its full potential.

Good but I would not call it a success for Mouton, nor for the vintage. It has a decent structure, with a bit of rusticity and slightly angular tanins. Good length, medium bodied, not much fruitiness nor freshness. The wine itself is pretty nice, but there is nothing really special in it. I mean, one can have the same level of pleasure with hundreds of ordinary wines from the area. Just a good ordinary claret at the wrong price point.

A very good wine overall, but I wasn't blown away and it suffered the comparison with both the more mature glorious 2000 Margaux an the much younger 2016 Haut-Brion. Acidity is a bit high, and the wine already shows signs of evolution. Nice structure, silky tanins, but not quite the same combination of extraordinary tension and freshness that Cheval can deliver. To be fair I think I would have given it 1 or 2 more points if it had not been drunk next to the outstanding 2000 Margaux.

Opened this bottle to share with one of my sisters who was born in 1979. I was not expecting much from this bottle, as it is a poor vintage and comes from a supposedly bad era for the chateau but it actually turned out to be very good for the vintage. Reminds me of the spectacular 1983, with a little more intensity. Loved it.
