Opened by Mark. This cooperative farms 615 hectares of grand cru vines and another 615 of premier cru vines. More than all the big houses combined. A blend of 55% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier. This is one of their introductory bottling. Low dosage. This Champagne had s sharper edge to it. Medium to full bodied with an aggressive bead. Notes of white flowers and citrus. 90 points.

2015 Tissot (Bénédicte et Stéphane / André et Mireille) Poulsard Arbois Vieilles Vignes
Best showing yet, just excellent wine. Bright red and blood orange fruit that is quite energetic and expressive, and is also showing complex undertones that are herbal and forest-y. The wine is fresh and focused and perfectly balanced, and highly expressive of place. There is no wine I am aware of that smells and tastes like good Jura Poulsard, and this bottle provides an example of what that should smell and taste like. I should have bought more.

Fantastic Night of Old Barolo and More! (An excellent Vancouver restaurant): A great nose showing some dust and a bunch of new saddle leather. Very smooth on the palate with excellent balanced acidity. Quite lively for a 51 year old wine. As the wine sits, some smoke begins to show, which eventually morphs into some tar/creosote. This is an excellent old Barolo!

    11/23/17, 6:57 PM - It most certainly is fake! I wouldn't have commented if it wasn't. What is YOUR PROOF? Mine is that that ACTUAL WINERY says that wine didn't exist then. But hey, go check the winery's website yourself. (My bottle had an authentic-era back label but much newer front labels.) My guess is that it was basic Barolo, not the single vineyard, and not necessarily from that year.

Cloudy dark bronze color. Pungent, thoroughly oxidized and dead nose with aromas of stale rye bread, earth and a hint of rancid butter. Quite unpleasant and disagreeable nose. The wine is medium-bodied on the palate with quite high acidity. The flavors are long past their peak with unpleasant flavors of stale rye bread, rancid butter, some mushroomy earth and a hint of mouldy apple. The finish is long and dead with unpleasant, oxidized flavors of rancid butter, stale bread, mouldy apple and peanut butter.

This wine was unfortunately long past its peak and completely oxidized. There was nothing left of the wine and the overall aroma and taste were really unpleasant. Quite a shame, I had been looking forward tasting older Gravners.

Looking for best Sauvignon blanc: So very clean and almost steely after all the rich Dagueneau wines we had. Nettle on the nose, flinty character, like a 1er Cru Chablis. Lots of tart green apple, juicy and saliva inducing, but underripe. Give it time.

    2006 Miani Sauvignon
    2003 or 2007 San Michele Appiano (St. Michael-Eppan) Sauvignon Sanct Valentin

    I bet any of these three will take the crown.
