Golden hue

Complex nose, very intense and etheral. Fruit (quince , baked golden delicious , pineapple ), floral (acacia, apple blossom) and spice (Touches of cinnamon, honey , smoke and vanilla)

Rich and well balanced on the palate , with freshness, power and fragrances tickling your tongue and resorting to a smooth and intense finish.

Good to drink now.

Bright, translucent ruby

Phantastic nose with red cherries (griotte!), black cherries , blueberries, sandalwood , roasted meat , cinnamon and a bright citrus note.

Beautifully layered palate, with red cherries and blueberries at the forefront , roasted meat and cinnamon and Koriander in the middle, and a long aftertaste of fruit and spices, with a mineral streak and a touch of cherry pit bitterness . Well balanced , but still quite tightly packed. Clearly benefited from airing in the Zaalto glasses.

Overall a thoroughbred Griotte Chambertin, testament of its terroir, at the beginning of its drinking window.

Bright translucent ruby

Very perfumed. Red fruit ( strawberry , but also red cherries , raspberry ) , damson , spices ( cinnamon , vanilla , kardamome, pepper). Noticeable oak.

On the palate the red fruit is more restrained and the oak becomes more prominent. Neverthelessit is balanced and silky, good complexity.

Long.

Overall a very good Pinot Noir, maybe a touch too much oak.

Light, translucent straw yellow with green sprinkles

The nose is rich and complex for a SB, still slightly reductive. Diverse fruits (quince, red grapefruit, lime, apricot, melon) , flowers (blackcurrant blossom, jasmine , acacia) plus crushed stone

On the palate very creamy with a full body, balanced by a very present acidity and a saline streak with lemon zest, with quince and dried apricot in the forefront, blackcurrant blossom and Jasmin, lime and melon, nicely layered and lingering for 40+ seconds on your tongue

Great Loire SB at the beginning of its drinking window

Has evolved very well since the last bottle Colour is still a beautiful translucent dark ruby. The primary nose is sparkling with red cherry (Weichsein), raspberry, damson and black cherry, now with hints of wet leaves and truffles. Upbeat palate, with damson and black cherry dominating, raspberry more in the background and aftertaste. Good length.

An extremely joyful and food friendly wine.

Light, clear golden yellow

Refreshing nose, dominated by baked apple , pear, plus pineapple, apricot and dashes of honeysuckle and acacia

Quite straightforward on the palate , pineapple and apricot become more prominent and give way to an intriguing finish of tropical fruits , lemon zest and almonds which lingers for about thirty seconds

Overall , a well balanced Meursault which remains crystalline and light footed despite the very warm vintage. I don’t think it has the substance to go much further from here. Drink in the next two to three years

Beautiful pale golden yellow. Outstanding nose with grapefruit , white peach elderflower , boskop Apple and acacia and a whiff of petrol. On the palate , the fruit is nicely balanced by marked citric acid and a substantial saline streak. Complex , creamy, which gives a very upbeat and satisfying mouthfeel and a long aftertaste (50 seconds or more )

Light ruby, turning brownish at the rims. Compared with my last bottle, less strawberries, less red cherries and raspberry , more mushrooms and automn leaves. Very clear and translucent ruby Initially , the nose was mostly dark berries (blackberry , blueberry , with a dash of cassis ). After half an hour , it evolves more a mix of red and dark berries , with strawberries at the forefront , supported by rose petals and a hint of cinnamon

Very balanced and quite complex palate, with a backbone of stemmy tannins, supported by bright strawberry and red cherry notes, with a coating of oriental spices.

Good length.

Very satisfying and joyful wine , the style of which reminds me of the Fourrier wines of the first decade of the 2000s, shooting well above the village level. Drink or hold for the next five years .

Wonderful , très Chambolle! Explosive nose of red berries, with notable streaks of spices and creosote , perfectly balanced palate and a long and uplifting finish. Bravo ! Not sure though where it will go from here. Will probably improve and gain in complexity for the next two to three years, but it may be difficult to hold up the perfect balance beyond that time

Wow. After a five hour decant, an explosion of blackberry , blueberry, sour cherry and cranberry hits you, followed by liquorice, leather and a handful of oriental and Mediterranean spices. Once you recover, you take a sip and you are hit again, by an iron fist of liquorice and tar wrapped in a glove of black cherry, sour cherry and flowers, with hints of anise , cloves and oregano. You don’t recover for a while, because the sensation lingers for minutes on your tongue. One of the most impressive wines l have tasted in 2021 so far.

Slow-oxed for two hours, then decanted. Deep ruby colour. Rather tight at the beginning, but opening up decisively after an hour or so, showing raspberries, strawberries, but also red cherries, herbs and damp leaves. Quite complex on the palate, with layers of red fruit, black cherries, underbrush and mushrooms around a core of fine tannins and minerals. Good length.

Overall a beautiful, light footed Gevrey, good to be enjoyed now, but with the potential to become even more delicate within the next three years.

Beautiful but somewhat restrained nose of exotic fruit, ananas, white peach, maracuja and mango. But the palate is out of balance, with a stingy dominant note of citric acid, with a separate Saline streak, shallow and lacking complexity. Not sure it is in a bad phase or already heading downhill. Certainly not up to the pedigree.

Three hours decant.
Dark, almost black, but translucent garnet.
Inviting, big, well defined nose with blackberry, sour cherry, blueberry, and significant oak derivatives, mostly tobacco and coffee.
Full bodied, almost violent palate, with high acidity and high alcohol surprisingly in balance. Dark berries persist, but amarena cherry and plum take the forefront, supported by cedar and eucalyptus.
Excellent length. Very fine.
Good to drink now, longer decant suggested. But given that there are still substantial unresolved tannins, it should be rewarding to wait for another 5+ years to let it settle down further and get fully integrated.
93 points for now.

Perfect light golden colour. Super fine regular perlage. Nose of citrus, brioche , chalk, yeast , whiffs of elderflower blossom.

On the palate it is more developed, more grapefruit and Yuzu, more brioche. Well integrated fruit with the yeasty and mineral streaks , with a long aftertaste of sweet citrus fruit.

Overall a very well balanced champagne, perfect to drink now or to hold for a few more years. Fine plus.

At Lefay in Gargnano. Decanted just before drinking. Very complex, dark nose of tobacco, dark chocolate , liquorice, violets and stewed strawberries. The palate surprisingly is voluptuous, with a smooth combination of dark chocolate, blackberries and raspberries in the forefront, supplemented by automn leaves, liquorice and black truffles, all supported by a frame of robust acidity and stemmy tannins. keeps getting smoother and more intense throughout the evening.

Amazing old style Barbaresco having entered its Prime Drinking window, will continue to improve over the next five years.

On the palate very round , with red cherries and stewed strawberries on the forefront and stemmy (not oaky) tannins in the background. Over time , a solid mineral backbone and wonderful herbal note with rosemary and black pepper developed, but the mouthfeel remained velvety and upbeat. Full of energy, but only reasonable length.
