Lots of crunchy red fruit. Palate rustic and closed. Day 2 improves with more alive Gevrey nose, but still pretty inaccessible palate.

Good bones, good potential. Improves with air but not enough for now. Way too young. Hold for 5 years?

Initially on Day 1 it showed reduction and was not very expressive, almost harsh with poor mid and back palate. Day 2 under argon it filled out and is much better; typical Meursault notes. Round, not really focused yet but on the way.

If drinking now probably an hour or two decant would do wonders. Overall a well made wine opened too early. Think this has years to go and will be quite good down the road.

Stood up for a week. Slow ox’d, no decant, for 5 hours. Just spectacularly pure, with perfectly integrated nose and palate showing rose petals, red fruit, tar, leather, mushroom and forest floor.

Continued to open in the glass and evolve, improving along the way without ever getting tired. A truly great wine.

White flowers on the nose. Very fresh with good lift. The palate shows some reduction, but in a good way, also with quince, orange marmalade and chalky minerality. This has good concentration and density. To me it is most reminiscent of a good 1er Puligny -Montrachet. I like it a lot, and it has definitely improved since my last tasting 3 years ago. Too bad it is my last bottle! My wife says I should buy two cases to keep around for friends. Probably a good idea.

See IDKDAVID’s note. Fabulous, red and blue fruit nose, a little medicinal at start. Resolved tannins. Wonderful attack on the palate, but just a little short at the mid palate and finish.

In a perfect place right now. No shake, no decant, just singing. An island wine.

I noticed I had not taken this wine out of my inventory, and so I am posting this note about 6 months after…

We opened this during a wine tasting with friends. I can’t recall all the wines that were in its flight, but among those was a 2010 Coche Corton. The Leflaive was number one of the flight.

Powerful, huge dry extract, and incredible balance. Glad to have another.

Open this in a group wine tasting as a pop and pour. Did not have enough time to develop. Not rated. Definitely great bones, but it needs at least an hour decant.

See Sid_Loves_Wine’s note. Ripe, concentrated and delicious Bourgogne. I bought a couple of these on release, Tried one, and immediately went out and bought a case. So glad to have a few more. Just getting better.

Rather thick and unctuous. Don’t know what this is about this wine, but I normally don’t feel bad the next day after only a couple of classes of wine, but I did after this one.

See my prior note. Age is helping this wine a lot. Initially thin on PNP but after 2hrs slow ox really comes alive. A good Bourgogne.

Accessible Pommard. Red and dark fruit, clean palate with no rusticity. Currently fine grained tannins. Drinks at 1er level. May shut down but very nice now.

Purchased on a trip to Champagne about 10 years ago. He held up incredibly well. Seems to be an oxidative style with deep yellow fruit on the nose and palate. Crisp, youthful and captivating. Very similar to Selosse. Wish I had more!!!

Double decanted about an hour prior to serving in a double blind Montrachet tasting. Took a while to open up. Somewhat reticent nose initially, with characteristic pineapple and coconut. Incredibly intense palate with excellent acid, texture and forever length. Plenty in the tank for the long haul. Overall, while young, a stunningly good bottle of wine.

WOTN was 2014 Bouchard, whose wonderful aromatics set it apart.

Starts off with some funk and VA. After 2 hours in the decanter it blows off and shows dark fruit, pepper and some pyrazine emerges. Smooth tannins. Better and better with more time in the decanter. In an early drinking window and should continue to improve.

Stunning wine. Very fresh nose with oystershell and yellow orchard fruit. Palate shows intense minerality and length. Overall terrific. More complete and better than many “grands cru”.

This was served with a braised chicken dish with a lemon-walnut-parsley pesto, which really brought out the best aspects of the wine. A good pairing, resulting in one of those elusive Burgundy experiences that knocks it out of the park.

Continues to improve with fresh yellow fruit on the nose, deep minerality with extract and length on the palate.

Perfect condition and well recommended.

Very young and very fresh with a beautiful red fruit nose. Palate needs more time to integrate but shows lots of lift with the tannins only being prominent at the back end. Overall well balanced. More of a Village in terms of weight and complexity at this stage; perhaps it will improve with time, but a very good drink and well recommended for the price.

Beautiful, red and dark fruit nose. Going a little over the top at this point… Perhaps some stewed fruit on the palate. Definitely advise drink now… prior bottles were better.

Lovely Chablis. Crisp, clean and mineral with good focus and length. Incredible value given what the big boys go for.

Drank two. One was premox’d, the other was heavily sulfered, as the prior note indicates. The sulfur did not blow off even after an extended decant. Neither enjoyable.

Impressive on PNP with some reduction, gunflint, citrus and minerality. Very Burgundian.

That said, it did not improve with air and in fact lost complexity. Not what I expected. Maybe more time in the cellar but I think it is missing that extra gear.

Wow, what a great bottle of wine.

Typical Rousseau GC nose and extremely well integrated palate already. Obviously has some age in looking at the wine in the glass.

For what’s its worth, we also had a 2010… In my opinion, that wine is actually bigger and requires more time in the bottle. The 2009 is drinking extremely well, and, as I previously mentioned, a well integrated palate now. For me, that makes a difference.

Overall just super bottle of wine.

Fantastic straight out of the gates on pop and pour. No signs of premox. Intense minerality, seashells, lemon, lemon verbena, lemon zest. Decanted half with the other under argon for tomorrow. More intense 3 hours later. Great mouthfeel and precision throughout and still singing. Great wine. Only nit is it lacks some texture and concentration.

Tight tight tight on pop and pour. Lots of reductive notes.

Put part of it in the decanter, put some more under the cork.

Four hours later, we drank all the stuff in the decanter. Not sure it was actually improved. The Lafon finally blew of its reduction and opened up a little bit. We compared it against a Ballot Millot 2019 which was actually very good initially, but a bit rich when revisited.

The Lafon is tremendously well balanced. Not saying it’s better or definitely not worth the tariff, but it’s a nice wine.

Fast-forward to day two. The wine is much improved; better nose, more focused, bigger, and better balanced. I don’t know if it’s in a sleepy phase or what, but it is wholly different on day two.

Super bottle. That said, it is a bit rich. Fortunately there is some bracing acidity and structure behind the wine. Hopefully the structure will carry it forward over the next several years.

Right now a good drink and I am hopeful that it will continue to improve.

On Day 1, despite three hours of decanter time, the wine was tight with little fruit. Maybe some balance, but not impressive. Did not improve for the evening. Put the rest under argon.

Day 2. This is much much improved. As if it has woken from a long nap. Intense berry nose with excellent concentration on the palate. i received the bottles a month or so ago, and so while I thought it had enough time to rest, perhaps it was still suffering from transport woes.

In a much better place now. Took a 3-4 hour decant and then blossomed. Note there is now clearing at the rim, so probably these are ready to go and will fall from here.

Lemon, lemon pith, acacia, all very well balanced … but hiding beneath the reduced matchstick and gunflint nose that, as others have said, carries onto the palate.

From Coravin, so wonder if it would benefit from a decant, or more age. Clearly a well made wine, and WS may be my current favorite American chard producer.

On pop and pour, it has nice red fruit and reasonably good mouthfeel. Mid palate and finish are a bit short. Unfortunately it starts to get tighter with air with the tannins being a bit more prominent. Scored declined.

So, it is tasty but nothing to write home about. A good value for a restaurant buy and enjoyable enough.
If I had this in the cellar, I would lock it away for at least a couple of years. It definitely has some substance and likely would improve with the age.

See prior tasting notes. Similar in style to a typical better quality German Riesling but being a little drier, yet still with a bit of a sweet note.

Overall a well balanced wine that everyone enjoyed.

Good fruit on the nose, but not so layered. A bit rustic with somewhat hollow mid palate. Nonetheless enough going on here for 1er.

That said, this continues to improve with time and so it is worth exploring. Will probably get even better over the next several years.

A bit uncharacteristic for Chablis, but this is not a nit. More like a nice village Chassagne. Pears on the nose, good acid with lemon zest and a nice linear bead of minerality. Not a lot of oystershell. Medium-short finish. Overall a good wine that you can serve to your friends with confidence.

See my prior note. Same comments but would add that the wine hits its stride about 2-3 hours after opening, becoming substantially more mineral and textured. This begins to fade a bit about 4-5 hours in, with more floral notes and sweetness. Overall a very good wine.

Yummy. Beautiful red fruit nose. On the palate it is very well integrated with fine silky tannins with red and dark fruits. Excellent by itself or with food. A very good Volnay with typicity. Well recommended. Gave it a 93 - but with time more upside?

Restaurant purchase. Despite a decant, it was tight as a drum and somewhat astringent. Had about a third of a bottle with dinner. Now, corked up and two days later, it is much improved and actually almost approaches an Amarone in terms of sweetness and power. Lots of dark red fruit on the nose and intense red fruit on the palate with some mouth puckering residual tannins.

To me that says this wine will continue to improve with age. It absolutely needs a good decant with several hours of air. Lots of substance here that will unfurl with time.

Excellent Villages Lieu-dit. Pear and white flowers on the nose, following seamlessly to the palate. A nice streak of wet stone minerality. Opens a bit closed but gets going about an hour in. No decant needed, just some patience. Better near cellar - room temperature.

Overall a winner and recommended.
