My first taste of this, having let a dozen bottles sit in the cellar till now - tried one tonight. I hate to be the outlier here, but I wonder if this is overrated. Heavily, heavily oaked, and not giving the ripe fruit I expected of 2009. Perhaps another 10 years?

12/25/23, 12:26 PM - Agreed, another 10 or 20 years should improve it, but I still wonder how the fruit might develop from were it seems to be right now. About to start sampling a few more of the 09 Bordeaux I have, so it’ll be interesting to see how they compare.

"Wow!"

This word echoed around the table multiple times as each guest tasted their pour

An absolutely divine nose yielded to a rich, tart palate filled with mandarins and apricots

Running low on Tokaji bottles now - wines like this are one of the reasons why! :)

Wow... best whisky I have tasted in my entire life

The "gang" got together and brought all their favourites, including Glenmorangie, Lagavulin 12 yr, Glenlivet 18 yr and Bunnahabhain 25 yr. This thing blew them all away (I will say the Bunnahabhain was terrific tho - I'd definitely give it a solid second.

Unbelievably rich, exotic, dynamic, on both the nose and palate - and the finish is wonderful, amazing, and everlasting. Even tho it is bottled at cask strength (104), you cannot discern the alcohol, it is totally integrated.

I ran out to find another bottle immediately after our tasting session - I never want to run out of this!

5/7/13, 10:23 AM - No probs at all - trust me it was a pleasure, lol. At one point, there were a few bottles of this being sold at under $900 - I got lucky - yes, $2,000 is a rather big hit. It's definitely a one-off for the collection.

This was part of a 12 year vertical that I got from Garagiste. The capsule and top of the cork were perfect, but on removing cork, one could see that there had been movement on the bottom half.

Sadly the wine was tainted with TCA - corked. Since these all apparently came from the winemaker's own storage, I'm a little worried about the rest of them.

Crossing fingers...

Yummy! Big, chewy, bittersweet, tart. Very floral. Very international yet so very satisfying. Really present acidity.
