This is aglianico at one of its finest. Ripe, not stewed., but neatly balanced ripe fruit on the nose. Violets, black pepper, bramble, herbs and velvety tannins. Medium to long finish. Structure and poise makes up for lack of sufficient complexity. Maybe drink in 2 or 3 years' time?

12/15/17, 6:29 PM - Pavel, hello! Ah I meant drink it in 2019 or 2020 as there is potential for development. I got a bit of mushroom flavour at the end of the finish and every chance that you might get hints of umami if you cellar it longer. Like a good Bourgogne. But I'm in no way stopping you from drinking it now!

A fantastic wine with that wonderful grapefruit on the nose, those long legs in the glass and full bodied mouthfeel. A slight fizz accompanies this wine and as it ends the finish starts. Nose and palate are similar with hints of white flowers, ripe grapefruit, wet gravel and freshly caught fish. Gripping acidity and minerality.

9/27/17, 6:33 PM - Hi fc1910 and gilrbo, I do hope you enjoyed / will enjoy the wine. Fc1910 - maybe pop one open now and try another early next decade. There is a chance that overt grape fruitiness could mellow and become more nuanced.

The "freshly caught fish" was very instinctual. I have this memory of fishing for fresh water rainbow trout. Out of the water, there is this nice fresh water and mineral smell to them. So this points to that kind of minerality to the wine.

On the fish, there is a slight watery slime which reminded me of the viscosity of this wine, 13.5% abv!
