Line up of wines for the night, 2 bottles of 2009 Château Mouton Rothschild, 1 bottle of 2003 Chateau Margaux and 4 bottles of 2005 Château Latour. Before drinking the wines, based on RP scores, it should be ranked like this; Mouton 99, Latour 98+, Margaux 93. And based on price point; Latour, Mouton follow by Margaux. My personal favourite wine goes like Mouton, Margaux, Latour. After tasting the wine throughout the night, my wine of the night is suprisingly totally different from RP, price point and my personal favourite; our consensus rank follows Latour, Margaux and Mouton.

2005 Latour is consistently throughout the 4 bottles, the aroma and taste is delicate and finessed. Deep purple coloured, roses, blackfruits, and on its palate, chocolate, dark tea. It can be drink now till easily another 30 years.

2003 Margaux is fully matured, and 2003 being one of the hottest vintage, Chateau Margaux had produced an extraordinary wine in 2003. Opulence, seductive, blackberry, cassis, vanila, cedar. Can be drank now till 2030. In its drinking window

2009 Mouton is full bodied, high acidity and high tannin, purple rim, pencil, cassis, oak, violets. It have all the trademark of a high scoring point and vintage. However, it’s not ready to drink yet, or maybe I should say if I had only drank Mouton alone, it will be as enjoyable as well. Drink now till 2060.

It’s show that even great wine and great vintage if drank at wrong drinking window will not achieve greatness pleasure. At most likely the price it’s a better indicative of the consensus.

Champagne is often my favourite drink when I’m happy or sad. But drinking 167 edition make me sad as its way too young to consume it today. Should have drink it 5 years later, but I can always revisit 167 edition again and I’m quite certain it will improve vastly.

This 1990 Pichon is drinking beautifully, with still bright red color, leather, wet forest, truffle, mushroom teitiary aromas. On the taste, it very much that the nose. Very approachable and with tannin integrated, it’s very enjoyable. Hope to have this more often

First time drinking from Roger Belland, and also vintage 1990 Criots Batard Montrachet. The wine looks more than a sweet wine, very golden yellow in appearance. The nose is a either you love or hate, it’s a pungent small of “cat pee”, a smell coming that I couldn’t much descript further except using “cat pee”. The wine is in declination and will not improve further, though I feel it will drink better with more aeration.

Recently had been ordering 1998 vintage for the right and left bank. Had found this vintage in the right drinking window. The nose is perfumed with red fruits, char wood and with medium+ tannin and firm acidity. It will goes well with beef and bbq. It can be lay down for easily another 5 years or more.

The nose remained reserved without decanting. Pour straight from the chilled cellar at 12 degree. After 30 minutes evolving in the glass, aromatic smell of red fruits, cedar, leather is released. Not the best of Latricieres Chambertin I tasted from Trapet as 2001 is not really a good vintage for most.
