Fragrant, old-world barnyard, horse sweat, a bit tired, whereas the 1989 was in a totally different place. The '89 was much fresher and had the acidity to carry it many more years. The '90 developed nicely as the evening progressed, integrating the barnyard with herbal characteristics. The '89 not as much. This was a thoroughly enjoyable and fascinating bottle, but I would recommend drinking any you may have very soon.

Light in color, and a beautiful fragrance of dark fruits plum and cherry. Light and deft in the mouth too, a perfect choice for my crippled palate.

Classy and exotic, with a great, fragrant nose and a lot of deeper fruit on the palate. Juicy red plum. A beautiful 2nd wine for Cos.

I should have followed the CT drinking window advice. This bottle was well past its prime, rather overripe and pruny.

Heavy vanilla component on both nose and palate.

Something is "off" with this bottle. Not corked, but out of balance, way too sweet, cloying berry flavors, and a disagreeable finish, like rust. Dark cherry backbone.

Taken to a cassoulet dinner, proved to be the hit wine among several high-end bottles. Aromatic, exotic, good conc, this was a great recommended buy.

A bit sharp, acidic for my taste. Could use more bottle age.

Not having had Monk's for quite awhile, this really surprised me with its aromas and mature flavors. Dark stone fruit, fully mature but not over the hill. The consensus favorite of 5 PNs.

More complex than the 2008, and a bit lactic to my taste

Good bottle of wine, but not a good PN. Seems like a pinot trying to be a malbec, perhaps. Lots of sediment, very saturated and a bit gritty.

Everyone loved this, even me with my impaired palate. Juicy, long, luscious, saturated mature fruit.

Saddle leather, damp fall forest floor, nice saturation, enough fruit to keep it lively, just a beautiful bordo.

A bit of roughness (similar to Rutherford dust) and, surprisingly, eucalyptus. Last of the 6-bottle blind tasting. Three Pauillacs, three Napa cabs from Howell Mtn., the differences were striking among the 6, but difficult to pick out the Bordos from the Napas. This one in particular could have been mistaken for a Napa wine.

Corked. The two Pontet-Canets were a disappointment in a tasting of Bordo & Cabs of about 30 years old.

As an add-on in a unique vertical tasting of all Bryce vintages 03-08, this was distinctly ordinary. Sulphur at first, but blew off. There was nothing wrong with the wine itself, but Bryce Bagnall and his subsequent winemakers made more distinctive wine in the earlier years from this standout vineyard. Ken Wright should have done better.

Hard to judge with my impaired taste, but others enjoyed and I did find it very nice. But sorry, Suckling, it is NOT a 98-pointer.

With my impaired taste, I can't reliably rate this wine, but the group of 10's consensus was that it was the WOTN out of 6 very nice cabs. It scored at least one 96. Decanted and aired 4 hours before tasted.

Nice rich barnyard aromas, plum fruit, great mahogany color. No comment on palate, as I'm currently taste impaired, but others assured me it was rich, full and flavorful.

There was an impressive lineup of Ken Wright wines in the 2014 Cellar Crawl pack, but this on topped them by a bit. Concentrated and full-bodied, he is turning the Bryce vineyards wines into a more masculine direction.

The favorite cab of the evening. Still too young, let the rest go. Exotic, complex and a bit hot. Probably about 93 points.
Red
The favorite pinot of the evening. I thought good spice, depth, and sophisticated.

Great fruit, a bit of tobacco and tar, softer than expected for 100% syrah.
