Decanted for 3 hours, it was still coiled up. That said, this is a beautiful, elegant, and delicious SCM cabernet. This wine's best years are still to come, hold on to your bottles for a couple of years.

A shadow of what it once was. The fruit has faded away, and we are left with some nice aromatics and the vestiges of Sangiovese vitality and the slipping grip of purely extracted fruit and tannins. Drink up, folks.

Horrible QPR.

This is awesome. A really fantastic beam of acidity keeps it fresh, but there's depth to this, with notes of lychee, matchsticks, and a flinty minerality that I've yet to encounter in a WA white. A wonderful wine.

This was my first Anthill, and it might have been flawed. Cork was saturated about half way up, which is weird for a 2016. Flavor was diluted, insipid, and lacking complexity. Disappointing, but perhaps it was due to a flaw in bottling.

My first Bedrock, and it shall not be my last. This wine was absolutely fantastic, with smooth, Geyserville-esque tannins, deeply layered black fruit, yet deftly balanced with juicy acidity. This was just tremendous.

This is a tremendous wine. Gorgeous crimson with virtually no bricking in the glass. It's in a great spot, with solid Cabernet characteristics, still juicy and maintaining a zippy acidity, but with the tertiary forest floor and mushroom notes as well. This was a tremendous wine, glad I have another bottle.

Gotta say I find this delicious. Ripe to be sure, but it's got tannins and a fair amount of acidity to back it up. It's in a fine spot right now, as are many of the WA 2012's.

Flawed. Wine has gone through secondary fermentation in bottle.

A lovely, deep, delicious Syrah from Ridge. Showing well right now.

A very fine bottle. It definitely had some persistent oak, but I'm good with that, as it was backed up with ripe (not overripe) fruit. Went well with a ribeye.

This bottle was alive and well! It showed its age, but there was still good fruit, resolved tannins, and perfectly integrated oak. Really wasn't expecting much, but this bottle impressed. Very nice with an awesome ribeye steak.

Not particularly memorable. Not bad, but falls short of the rest of the Ridge Zin lineup this year. Weak nose, short finish.

Deep, deep Geyserville. Perhaps less dense than the 2014, but there's a brilliant beam of acid, and a finish that lasts for days. I think this will turn in to something truly special.

Decanted for 3 hours. This wine was magnificent. Still full of life, beautiful garnet color, epic nose, and a finish that lasted for a minute. A wine to be cherished.

Opulent, ripe, and tasty. Acidity & tannins are in check, making this a nice "stand alone" wine. Not a balanced wine. Delicious now, but won't be around for the long haul.

A true expression of Merlot, with some oak, soft but present tannin, deep red & some black fruit, with savory notes on the nose, and a persistent finish with some lovely floral notes. I think this wine is a fantastic value.

This was fabulous. Beautiful garnet, beautiful concentrated red berry, exceptional balance, and an outstanding accompaniment to thick cut, bone in pork chops with vinegar peppers & potatoes.

Bottle was past its prime. There were some nice earthy aromas, but they were unsupported once it hit the palate, and I was left with a hot, unbalanced wine with little pleasure left in the glass. Purchased on Winebid, so provenance could have played a part.

This is drinking fabulously right now. Excellent structure, with Secondary aromas fully integrated with a solid core of fruit, resolved tannins and a very, very long finish. Most fine, wish I had more.

Popped a bit early, but wanted to see how I liked it while the opportunity existed to purchase more. I found it a bit nondescript, lacking in concentration and identity. I love Abeja's other Cabs, but this one didn't really do it for me.

The weak 2011 WA vintage shows up here. Too much wood, out of balance. It aspires to Brunello, but it plays out like a grocery store CC with a woodie.

Drinking well, but the fruit is dwindling. Wow there is a lot of wood here.

Tasty, inky, sweet, fruity, flabby, with weak and sad tannins. It's not bad, it's just a shortcut to pleasure that leaves you feeling empty at the end. Not a soulful wine.

Big wine. Smoked meats, five spice, chocolate, & tobacco on the nose. Plum, olive, and dark fruit on the palate with a lingering finish. Really should've waited for some of the youthful exuberance to resolve itself, but it was very very good.

Delicious. lovely deep purple hue, with black cherry, vanilla, & cedar on the nose. Violets, bramble, and dusty tannins carry it along to a medium length & pleasing finish. Drank from Riedel Cabernet glass.

Needed to breathe for a couple of days, but it opened up nicely. Big & juicy, with good acidity and tannins for balance. Small red berries, tobacco leaf and fig. Medium finish. Hold for a couple years.

Popped this one a bit early. Still wound tightly, it needs the cellar, but was enjoyable after decanting. Light gold, beautiful balance with bright acidity. Nuanced citrus on the nose, with notes of green apple, persimmon & graphite. The finish is extensive, with passion fruit, yuzu, and wet stone. Drank from Riedel Extreme Chardonnay glass. 2018-2021.

Very austere. A pretty nose of violet, under ripe raspberry, and fresh green herbs. There are some interesting things going on here, but I'm not having much fun discovering them...like reading the instruction manual for a pogo stick.
