Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium expressiveness, black cherry, rose petals, with hints of forest floor and creme de cassis - subtle but quite interesting. Palate: Medium bodied, red fruit and spice attack, great balance, great mid-palate lift, some earthy notes appear in the back-end, delicious harmony here from front to back. Finish: Lengthy 45-60 seconds dominated by delicious red fruit and spice. Given time, this is an exceptional wine.

Brought to dinner with friends, no formal note taken. Decanted for 1 hour and was the last of 4 bottles had with dinner. Was enjoyable, but didn't particularly stand out - tasty high toned fruit and spice but lacked expected depth and complexity. (90-91)

Opened day 1, poured 2 glasses - no note taken, vacuvined and refrigerated, remaining consumed on day 3 when note was taken. Nose: Medium expressiveness, black cherry, black berry, licorice, and cigar box. Palate: Medium-full bodied, nice mouth-feel, great balance, sweet dark fruit attack, good mid-palate persistence where black pepper and spice notes join in, dark fruit and spice dominate the back-end, very clean and smooth from front to back. Finish: Sneaky long, 45-60 seconds, dominated by sweet dark fruit and subtle spicy notes. I think I missed the prime window, day 2, as this was quite powerful upon the initial pop and pour and very mellow this evening - day 3. (91+)

Vinturied into decanter 1 hour before first pour, consumed over 2 hours. Nose: Medium expressiveness, fresh picked fruit - raspberry and boysenberry, watermelon rind, rocky soil, and eucalyptus undertones - quite unique and interesting. Palate: Medium bodied, strawberry and raspberry attack persists nicely thru the mid-palate where minerals and spice notes appear, very clean and fresh showing subtle complexity. Finish: Subtle, but lengthy, sense of fresh red fruit, spice and minerals. This is a special wine, wonderful change of pace from the wine mainstream.

Pop and pour, consumed over 2 hours. Nose: Medium expressiveness, ripe raspberry, licorice, and sweet tobacco with floral overtones. Palate: Medium bodied, red licorice and red fruit - raspberry attack, spice and earthy undertones appear thru the mid-palate and persist through the back-end with a little heat from the 15% abv. Finish: Medium length dominated by ripe red fruit and spice. This shows some nice flavors but lacks the depth to carry 15% abv IMO, still nice but a little hot for my palate.

Consumed over 2 days, re-screwed and stored on counter-top, note from day 2. Nose: Medium expressiveness, red fruit overtones - cherry - with blue fruit undertones - blueberry, with rusty earth, burnt matchstick, allspice, and subtle green notes - rosemary. Palate: Medium bodied, red fruit - cherry & pomegranate, great balance, spice driven mid-palate lift, earthy notes appear in the back-end. Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium expressiveness, herbs and spice dominate initially, with undertones of red fruit - raspberry & strawberry - and dark fruit - plum & blueberry, quite complex and interesting. Palate: Medium bodied, spice, red and blue fruit appear up front, great balance, flavors gain intensity through the mid-palate, the back-end is clean and fresh, persisting through a lengthy 45-60 second finish. This is quite linear and clean cut, no harsh edges, a very nice change of pace - I love it.

Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium expressiveness, black raspberry jam, licorice, and bacon fat with subtle allspice notes and undertones of forest floor. Palate: Medium-plus bodied, dark fruit attack, spice driven mid-palate lift, dark earthiness appears in the back-end along with a slight alcohol burn. Finish: Medium length, 30-45 seconds, dominated by spicy dark fruit and earthiness. This does a pretty good job of keeping the 15.4% ABV in check, but sensitive palates will definitely notice it. Personally, the alcohol is just a bit over the top for me, but there is enough complexity and character to make it quite enjoyable.

Finish: Medium length dominated by minerals and earth with tart red fruit undertones. Appears to be just entering it's prime drinking window, showing good balance and smooth edges, though lacking just a bit in depth.

Back story: This bottle was originally opened during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend when a single glass was poured and the bottle was vacuvined and placed in the garage on top of our refrigerator here in Nebraska. The garage temperatures have likely fluctuated some 50 degrees (10F - 60F) in the 3 months since opening. It was only discovered yesterday, 2/26. Amazingly the wine still tastes fresh, my note follows:

Nose: Medium expressiveness, initially there was a noticeable petroleum scent which dissipated after 20-30 minutes in the glass, green apple and pear dominates, with hints of lemon peel, honeydew, and butterscotch. Palate: Medium-full bodied, creamy mouth-feel, green apple attack, acid driven mid-palate lift, back-end shows some under-ripe melon with tart citrus dominating the medium length, 30-45 second, finish. Amazingly good for a bottle of wine that has been abused so badly.

Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium-plus expressiveness, meyer lemon, pear, green apple, polished steel, almonds and subtle hints of licorice - complex and interesting. Palate: Medium-bodied, pear, honeydew melon and apple attack, slightly creamy mouth-feel, great balance - acid driven mid-palate lift melds with perfectly ripe pear, melon and green apple up-front flavors, minerals appear in the back-end adding to the flavor party and lingering through a 45-60 second finish.

This is unlike any white wine I've ever tasted. A mix between a Cote de Beaune Chardonnay and a Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc, absolutely wonderful - oh and it's from Virginia!

Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium-plus expressiveness, dark fruit - black cherry and blackberry, black licorice, black olives, and black dirt (see a theme here?) - also hints of saddle leather and dark flowers. Palate: Medium-full bodied, sweet dark fruit attack - blackberry and plum, good balance, fruit persists nicely thru the mid-palate where a subtle spiciness kicks in, leather and earthiness join in the back-end. Finish: Medium-plus length dominated by spicy dark fruit and dark earth. The flavors here are deep and dark but still in balance, not over-powering as typically found in wines of this depth of flavor - wonderful wine.

Palate: Medium-full bodied, sweet creamy red fruit attack, black pepper notes appear mid-palate, good balance and persistence, back-end shows a little alcoholic burn (15.5% ABV). Finish: Medium length dominated by spicy red fruit and lingering alcoholic heat. Decent wine, but it's very hard to mask 15.5% ABV on the palate - this does it well through the mid-palate but the heat dominates the back-end.

Had this last about a year ago and it seems to be trending in right direction. The harsh edges displayed last year have smoothed noticeably this evening. I think that trend will continue for the next 3-5 years.

Finish: Lengthy 45-60 seconds, dominated spicy dark fruit and hints of minerals and iodine. At 15% abv this is drinking nicely in it's youth, probably better in 2-3 years, but I wouldn't keep this long term (10+ years). While quite interesting and delicious I don't think I would have called this Bordeaux if consumed blind, more New World like to me.
