WOTY so far for me. Pure silky fruit, hint of baking spices, tannins are just velvety to compliment the wine. Had two bottles and they both were outstanding, if you can break one open now and drink before it goes to sleep

3/26/19, 5:23 PM - This wine is delicious now. You will not regret opening a bottle. May be one of the greatest Cali cabs ever, seriously.

Manresa (Los Gatos, Ca.): Had the 88 earlier in the day, which was amazing...but blown away by this 05! The most amazing liqueured red berry fruits, exotic potpourri of spices(Vosne spice and red Chambolle perfume)...SO silky smooth and elegant, yet with a sneaky powerful youthfulness that will continue to help this age effortlessly. Deep and mesmorizing flavors of red licorice, exotic smoked woods, dusty white pepper, charcuterie...all balanced and plush to perfection. I have to have some of this in the cellar!

7/5/18, 6:59 AM - I'm thinking about opening up a bottle of this next weekend. Can you share your decant recommendations?

    Thanks

Power, finesse and a forward style sums things up nicely. From there, the levels of concentrated, dark, red fruits, pepper and earth take over. The tannins feel soft and polished, the finish delivers purity and soft, regal textures. This is a beauty and for Chave, the wine is already fun to drink, making this one of the earlier drinking vintages ever produced from the domaine.

A complete mess that resolved a bit after 24 hours. The nose was sickening, literally. Don't touch for 5 more years and hope something changes or this was an off bottle

Slow ox, 2 hour decant, singing, velvety tannins, but the tannins came on with more air. A touch of heat as it warmed up, but I expect this to be spectacular in a few years.

12/5/14, 10:43 AM - I will probably go back to this again in 2017. It is readily approachable now, but keep some chill on it. It is just a bit one dimensional, its more about texture at this point. But something tells me this will do very well. However I do not have it pegged as a long term ager.

Really striking bottle of Pinot. All in attendance agreed. Very distinctive flavor profile, almost smoky, but in a good way.

10/23/14, 12:17 PM - Not too young at all. PNP and it was ready to go. No doubt it has many years ahead though.

At the moment, the tannins are ripping my face off, but I can still see how good this is going to be. I will not even think of opening another until 2020.

6/24/14, 7:21 PM - 2 hour decant. Followed it over another 2 hours.

6/24/14, 7:39 PM - I hope so. I have half a bottle left to test that theory.

Better than the 08, decanted for 4 hours.

12/7/12, 4:31 AM - I would absolutely open one of those 3 bottles, it is drinking excellent at the moment. I would recommend a decent decant, but its not required. I decanted half the bottle for four hours, the other half in the bottle, no cork, both for 4 hours.

They both performed great with the slight edge to the wine in the decanter.

Anyway, I would drink one just so you know the treasure you have in the cellar.
