Actually approachable now with a decant and very impressed. 92 in a few years! Definitely need to add several to the cellar - although this is starting to creep up in price to border on losing value. Locally I'm seeing it for $65 which is ridiculous.

3/13/19, 4:56 PM - Looks like the community value is more realistic - but most of those prices are in California.....good thing I travel back there once a month! Cheaper to buy there and pack in the suitcase!

2014 Substance Cabernet Sauvignon Washington

A couple years in the cellar helped this evolve nicely for this price range and complexity. Solid 89 but won’t go any further. Drink now and over the next 1-2 years.

2012 Spring Mountain Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District

Wondering if there are consistency issues with this vintage as there were many of these at Costco for this vintage. I had 8 bottles of the 2012 and the first bottle was excellent, a year later this was a huge disappointment and almost to the point of wondering if it went bad on me and all 4 people drinking agreed this was not the spring mountain we know! So we opened another 2012 and a bit better and drinkable but thin - and not the SM we know and love. The first bottle was very astringent or bitter and harsh to drink and the second was probably only an 87. We capped the first bottle and will try it in a few days to see if there is any improvement.

2/5/19, 8:22 PM - Thank you for the comments and suggestions! I'm going to set my remaining bottles to the side for several years and wait and see what happens. The nice thing about being a SM Club Member is they don't disappoint in providing older vintages as part of their regular shipments! 2004 is on its way and looking forward to the '99 from the last shipment!

2005 Spring Mountain Vineyard Elivette Spring Mountain District Red Bordeaux Blend

This was the best Elivette I've had yet! The 2005 is well integrated, smooth, and very well balanced! At this price range - I expect to be wowed......and wowed me!

4/12/18, 10:45 AM - This was actually a PNP - although we did pour it into a decanter - we started drinking right away! It did open up though and had some sediment - so I would recommend decanting for a short while!

2015 Jamieson Ranch Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Double Lariat Napa Valley

Just out and still young, but approachable and can use another year in the bottle......decant now to get it to open up a bit - but still a bit closed and simple. This may be better than the 2014 and a good QPR at under $35 for a decent Napa Cab.

This is a good Monday-Thursday wine and really can't go wrong with it. Tried this with different glasses to see if there was a difference and yes there was! We used a Burgundy and Cab glass......I liked it with the Burgundy glass a bit better - a little more open!
