One of the wines we served for my wife’s 40th bday party and this was the surprise of the night. Didn’t know anything about going into the evening, but almost everyone who tried it named it their wine of the night.

PNP at dinner at the Katherine. Tight on the first sip, but opened up nicely over the course of dinner. Deep garnet color for a Sangiovese. Could use some more time in the cellar, next bottle in 2 years.

PNP unfortunately, but it was still quite enjoyable. Classic nebbiolo nose, cherry and very earthy on the palate and the flavors got better with every sip as it had more air.

Drank for birthday blind tasting at WW. This was definitely wine of the night. Drinking beautifully right now, beautiful nose and amazing finish.

Delicious, but I’ll be holding the remaining bottles for a few years as they’ll get nothing but better.

A little tight on the open, but within an hour it was firing in all cylinders. Dark cherry with a slight hint of orange peel and a long smooth finish. Drank after the ‘13 estate cab and both were delicious, but the solari showed the advantage of age and the distinction of a single vineyard.

Drank at small dinner party for birthday alongside a ‘13 La Ragnaie, a ‘13 Francesco Rinaldi Brunate, a ‘13 Maestro Raro, and an ‘11 Virna Sarmassa. Everything showed well, but this ‘06 Valdicava was far and away the WON. Beautifully aged brunello, that is drinking perfectly right now. So glad I have 5 bottles left...

PnP and drank over 2 hours with friends. This wine is drinking wonderfully right now. Drank after an ‘09 Flaccianello and this wasn’t quite to the same level, but it held its own.

Impressive Napa Cab, decanted and drank within the hour. Big and bold with solid tannins but a smooth long finish.

Drank over 2 nights, or at least tried to. On night one it was enjoyable but far from impressive. I had high expectations for night 2 after it had more time to open up. Not sure why, but on night 2 it had completely fallen flat and was undrinkable.

We had an amazing visit and tour of the winery with the owner Katia. We had first tried one of her wines at dinner in Panzano 2 nights before and decided to visit the winery. Her Chianti Classico is 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cab sauv. The Cab sauv gives it a deeper red color, but it still has the traditional lovely Sangiovese nose. Overall it’s an easy drinking and enjoyable wine to drink anytime.

Unfortunately, due to poor planning on my part, PNP with dinner at a friend's house. After about an hour of air it opened up nicely and showed itself to be solid medium bodied barolo. The next bottle will get plenty of time in the decanter to see what it should be.

Tasted at Wine Watch Best of Tasting. Best Cab of the night. Plenty of dark cherry and cassis with surprising depth despite its lack of age.

Tasted at Wine Watch Best of Tasting. Beautifully expressive nose of rose petals and a long lingering finish. A wonderful young Barolo that will only get better with 5-10 years of rest if you can wait that long...

Had with lamb chops, paired wonderfully. Light on the nose, herbal, red fruit, peppery finish. Moderate body, pleasant minerality. Good value CNdP.

Had at wife's birthday dinner. Wine of the night versus a 2011 Fontalloro and a 2011 Rancia. Lighter style of Brunello with a wonderful nose. For the price point it certainly did not disappoint. Glad I bought a case.
