Like being at a party and seeing a woman across the room for the very first time, standing there with friends, and she’s got it all. Fully body and sweet floral perfume with spicy sandalwood accents sweep you off your feet. Once introduced, the taste of ripe raspberry and dried cherry are obvious. But far more exotic notes lurk beneath her velvety soft skin (12 days worth) as you discover unexpected flavors of orange peel, fresh leather and minty Old Spice. A mouthfeel so round and smooth you feel a bit lightheaded. You may wonder about that Leone, but tell yourself just be courageous. Such balance and amazing grace, her rich fine tannins seem almost unreal at the finish of your conversation that night. Later, you realize this may just have been the Barolo of your dreams. What comes next could be your destiny. Buy now, hold through the mid ‘20s .... or until death do you part.

Ruby ink with aromas of cherry, berry and licorice. After a couple of hours you may notice more complexity on the nose, with floral notes, peppersmoke and mineral, and dark chocolate. Tight entry with intense bitter black cherry and berry fruit flavors, balanced with acidity and a powerful, yet smooth, elegant tannic finish.

Old world, spontaneous malo funk. Bright ruby, pine needles and cherry liqueur. Concentrated red fruits and dried plum mingle with camphor, smoky hung meat and lip smacking tannins. Balanced like a custom made fidget toy spinner. Buy more now, drink or hold.

Can you say Old School Napa? That cloudy plum color! Smell of dusty plum and faded rose petals, cooking spice and herb. Dried cherry, currant and waning plum mingle with toasty french oak. Silky smooth tannins and a smashing finish. Drink soon.
BDX blend: 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc

Deep amber/honey, but probably closer to straw when bottled. High-octane fumes of apricot, ambergris/botrytis and intense florals may overwhelm the less-seasoned sweet Riesling taster. But, like a pack of mad glue sniffers, you late harvest aficionados will be giddy with olfactory delight as you take a whiff and find yourself being lured ever-deeper into the glass. And understand, the octane level I’m describing here is in no way related to high heat (8.0% alcohol and 13.4% residual sugar at bottling), but rather to the aromatic sensations alone. Ripe orchard fruits and orange curaçao on the tongue turns to dusty, semi-sweet flavor sensations further on. Modest acid level, pure and crisp; quite well-balanced for the style. Kudos Prager Winery & Port Works ... 13 years and standing strong against the test of time. Drink now with a little dark chocolate, or hold until ?

Light gold. Fragrance of orchard fruit blossom, juxtaposed with smoky minerals--like taking a stroll in the park after a spring rain. Sun-kissed stainless citrus and palate-tickling stone fruit Brûlée give way to subtler notes of ginger, saline and mineral. Intense, pure and crisp; so many layers to explore.

Bing cherry jam and cinnamon spice. Good structure and everything nice. If you’re looking for an extracted red fruit blend, this wine won’t let you down.

Clear, pale straw Chenin Blanc. Subtle, earthy, minerally nose, fruit-driven; apple, peach and honey? Intense flavor and lively acidity? Just add a little goat cheese and count me in every time! You really can’t beat this Loire Vouvray for $14.99 USD (even less if you’re a really good shopper or live in central France).

Finally, I know what a real Brut Rosé Champagne tastes like. Stunning crystal rose petals floating in cranberry hard candy, with chalky mineral love and energy, so delicate, round and ethereal perfect bliss.

Opaque, violet core, brick red rim. Quick legs. Black cherry and cassis fruitcake. Smoke and leathery, with surprisingly mild heat at 15.5% alcohol. Mouthfeel smooth as a baby’s bottom. Finishes long and luxurious with vanilla, anise and cocoa. Unfortunately, we tasted right from the bottle, because this one would really benefit from ~2 hours’ decanting. Ready to drink, but will probably improve through 2020. Makes me realize just how much I want to try Mollydooker’s Velvet Glove!

So pure and precise; ripe tropical pineapple on the nose. Intense flavor and concentration. There’s a definite tension between the acidity and fruity texture. Finishes with precision and finesse. Excellent value.

Dark core, ruby red. Aromas of earth, graphite and truffle. Dark cherry, plum and blackcurrant fruit, notes of spicy tea leaf and dried flower petal. Graceful structure and balance, with silky tannins and a lengthy, refined vanilla espresso oak finish. Refreshing lack of over-extracted fruit and high alcohol. Drink or hold through 2025. Decant 1-2 hours.
