Wine was still fairly dark for an old wine (or darker than I would have expected as I don't have much experience with wines over 15 years old). It likely still has another 10 years left in it if kept properly- maybe more. Went really well with six-hour smoked spare ribs. Wine was opened to let it breathe and taste about six hours prior.
Was going to vacuum seal it, but the cork broke off in the bottle and so I had to decant it to filter out the cork particles. Also opened a 1998 Clos des Papes magnum and both wines were a hit. Was happy to see the La Crau still has some years left.

Wine was fairly light in color upon opening, but really evolved as the evening went on and paired beautifully with six hour smoked spare ribs. Wine was opened to let it breathe and taste and vacuum sealed for six hours prior to dinner. Also opened a 1995 Telegraphe La Crau magnum and both wines were a hit. Was happy to see the Clos des Papes still has some years left.

Not sure if it was from the 37% Petit Verdot, but the wine had a pretty strong bell pepper aroma on the nose. Didn’t taste like a predominately Cabernet Sauvignon wine to me. Have two bottles left so will wait a while to open the next one and see where it is at.

Probably not a fair assessment. Just flew across country with it and gave as a gift and was opened an hour later.

TASTE: Not as pleasing drinking by itself - hopefully with food in 10 minutes will help. Did pair better with some food

When we first joined Halter Ranch, I always sold their CDP short since it was one of their cheaper wines, but over time it’s really started to convince me it’s a great wine at that QPR. Will be upping our allocation on this wine for our fall shipment. A great middle of the week wine that goes great with food and doesn’t break the bank.

A really nice wine that paired great with pizza. The Wine Spectator tasting notes were spot on. Really enjoyed the nose on this after it had breathed for 1-2 hours.

My second bottle of this wine/vintage and just as amazing as the first. Beautiful nose. One of the top bottles I've ever had and blew away a 2013 Napa Cab costing 3 times as much. Both bottles were decanted about 2-2.5 hours.

Definitely needs more time to age and open up. Decanted for about 2-2.5 hours. Was completely overshadowed by an amazing 2013 Reserve Cabernet from Paso Robles costing less than $200

AROMA: Used the Coravin to pour two glasses and it had a somewhat soapy smell and look to it. Upon opening the bottle that abnormality is gone. Getting notes of leather, pepper, anise, dark red fruit on the remainder of the bottle
TASTE: Nice structure with a littlest of heat and firm tannins. Could easily go with food, but can also be enjoyed by itself. Unbelievable that it was only 8 Euros at the winery

APPEARANCE: Pale yellowish long legs
AROMA: Honeysuckle and pineapple on the nose
TASTE: Mouth coating, full-bodied sauvignon blanc. Mouthfeel resembles a oaked chardonnay than a typical Sauvignon Blanc. And while an oaked chardonnay isn't typically my style, I find this wine enjoyable to drink. Might be a tad bit over the top, but would choose this wine for its complexity, not necessarily its standard tipicity

APPEARANCE: Nice burgundy hue
AROMA: Beautiful nose of cherry pie, amaretto, candied red fruit, baked cookies. Really enjoyable
TASTE: Nice mouthfeel with well integrated tannins that aren't overpowering. I've had a bunch of vintages of Halter Ranch's CDP and viewed it as a nice everyday wine. It still can be, but after enjoying this bottle, I'm starting to give it a little more street cred. Really well made

APPEARANCE: Clean, crisp yellow hue. Long legs
AROMA: Hints of sourdough, melon, and wet stone
TASTE: Nice weight and mouthfeel. Went extremely well with a Sicilian Salmon recipe. Bought this at the winery and only had room for one more bottle in the suitcase. At $11, I wish I could have bought 6-12 bottles and after drinking the wine tonight, it confirmed my initial thought. Hopefully I can find it in the U.S. A great wine with a Mediterranean seafood dish

Cork was completely saturated. Tried to Coravin unsuccessfully, then tried a church key and the cork broke. Had to push the remainder of the cork into the bottle and filter.

APPEARANCE: Very watery with a tint of brown around the rim
AROMA: Muted notes of old leather and a touch of vanilla
TASTE: Cherries and raspberries with a bit of soft tannins. Not the best bottle, but an enjoyable experience to taste a wine as old as I am. I'd say it's past it's prime, but it still is showing some character.
