Still very much alive and quite enjoyable. Straw yellow in the glass. Nose of apricots, ripe pears and butterscotch. Nice acidity brings this one fully into balance. Would be fun to have a couple more bottles just to see how long it could go…

Wow! This wine just keeps going. Bottle No. 4640 of 840 cases produced. Firm tannins with dark fruited Zinfandel flavors. Plum and cherry with a perfect amount of age.

This last bottle I had actually quite good. Still dark and somewhat PS like. Good aged CS flavors though without the reduction of my previous bottle.

Hmmm... I’m rating this wine 91 points as I’m definitely enjoying it currently (with a bloody steak) but really who knows what is going on here. The bottle is 24 years old and it still tastes like a barrel sample. I purchased it on release and it has been in my temp controlled cellar since then so can vouch for the provenance. Anyway, dark in color with slight bricking. Open two days and full of austere primary Nebbiolo with a balsamic top note. Full in the mouth with very firm but suave tannins. Maybe drank this twenty years too early?

I remember very much enjoying this wine on release though a bit too intense at that young age. Now calmed slightly but still sappy cool climate Central Coast Pinot Noir flavors. Deep ruby in color, lovely acidity and balance. Save the next one for at least five more years.

Still quite young. Wonderful nose of apple/pear with a lime overtone. Sweet in the mouth like drinking crystal clear, fresh apple juice. Needs at least ten more years.

This one coming along nicely... dark ruby in the glass; deep nose of plums, shoe polish and tobacco funk; in the mouth tannic and firm.

Very interesting wine... Still very much alive for an 18 year old Oregon Pinot Noir and took about two days after pulling the cork to open up. Color, nose and mouth actually much more like an aged Barolo though than Pinot Noir. Dark ruby in the glass; nose still somewhat muted but in the mouth dark cherry and tar with a floral finish. Totally different animal than other aged Pinot Noirs I’ve been tasting lately from my cellar.

Still pretty chewy and dense; dark red in the glass; plum and dark cherry on the nose with the start of age; firm tannins and seems like can keep going for a while.

This bottle maybe a tad better than the one I had a few years ago. Still holding up very well and showing little to no age. Bright acidity with lemon and slight piney notes.

My bottle today in an ideal spot. Brick ted in color. Opens to a generous nose of red cherry and slight feral funk. Well balanced in the mouth with somewhat short tannins. Drink now.

So much better than anything I’ve been drinking lately... Bottle open for two days. Feral nose of damp fur and iodine. Poop and mushrooms. Velvet tannins and superb balance. For sure on the earthy side but keeps going and going.

Bright red Syrah fruit. Aging well. Not as meaty as other Pax Syrahs I’ve enjoyed from the mid 00s

Really seems ageless. Still quite sweet, gold color, apple cider and pear. Will certainly live longer than the cork (which is also in good condition)

Real character in this 2014 Grenache. Dark ruby in the glass. On the nose we have dark red plums, strawberries and a hint of mint. Firmly tannic and forceful in the mouth. Nice balancing acidity.

Really can’t see any age on this yet. Still quite primary and very delicious with a baked apple nose and a slight hint of petrol after the initial reductive sulfur blow off. Nicely sweet and balanced. Needs another 20 years?

Quick purchase for the night at Watson's in TST. Very primary and red/blue berried in the nose, quite a bit of EtOH, no real oak signature. In the mouth tannic and peppery. Clearly too young now.

Early check-in on this wine. Still very young and primary but deep in the nose and nicely concentrated. Dark red cherries, ever so slightly volatile, somewhat toasty, mint and a bit of fresh wood. Quite tannic in the mouth with binding and fresh acidity. This will go for years in a cold cellar.

Very nice bottle of SC Mts. Chardonnay but not at the level of other vintages. Lovely nose of bright lemon curd and slight piney overtones. Crisp acidity in the mouth with a follow-up of the citrus fruit and some oak. Still young. Not as mineral driven as other vintages.

Yikes! This is a very nice wine. Very slow aging from my cold cellar but still developing some nice secondary notes. Dark purple in the glass with almost no bricking at this stage. Feral and pungent nose with a dark core of black raspberry, coffee and olive fruit. Quite intense and well balanced on the finish. Has at least another 20 years to go.

Good bottle of SC Mts. Pinor Noir. Red ruby in color with lighter raspberry color/flavor. A bit simple but still distinctively SCM wine. I would drink sooner rather than later.

Good red Burgundy but not wonderful. Still could be a bit on the young side though so who knows.. Very pretty red cherry on the nose with a bit of classic blood and rusty iron. In the mouth nicely balanced with perfect acidity smooth tannins. I was looking for a bit more of a soil signature but still pretty nice.

Always love this wine... seems ageless! Still thick and full of fruit. I believe the mid oughts from Pax will be historical reference pieces for what can be done with CA Syrah. California minty/sausage Syrah nose with blackberries added in. Still quite tannic with a good acidic spine.

Hmm... My guess is that this bottle has started to re-ferment and the residual sugar is going to C02 and Et0H. I picked the bottle out of storage due to a leaky cork but the wine is going dry on it's own course. Some C02 on the pour on the side of the glass. Bit skunky nose of garlic and cabbage, in the mouth only a bit of sweetness with some heat on the finish. Must be a tricky thing bottling these wines with some R.S. and making sure they run the long term.

Check in on this before deciding to get more. In short, a beast of a wine. Huge, inky shoe polish and sausage. Violets with lift at the end. Would not touch another for ten years and will track down some additional bottles.

Pretty good Pinot Noir but a bit definitely a step down from the single vineyard offerings from Rhys. Red fruit all around with bright cherry and slight menthol nose. Subtle and refined tannins. A bit of a sweet cherry candy note in the mouth which carried a slight overripe note. Enjoyable but I would drink this bottling on the earlier side.

Rather tight nose of red cherry, camphor and minerals. Decidedly on the red fruited spectrum with some strawberry showing through as well. In the mouth also a bit tight with firm tannins but sweet and generous at the same time. Needs at least ten more years.
