Nice all-round everyday whisky with a good QPR, also because of the higher 46.8% Abv, which I like too.

TN 22-09-2019 @ 20.5 DegC:
Clean, very well made, good overall and that at 20.5 DegC. Even at that high temperature still brut.
Lots of tannins, but also some fruit.
TN 23-09-2019 @ 16.5 DegC:
Also good, now more balance between the freshness / acidity and the tannins and fruit. But I think, I prefer this wine @ 18 to 19 DegC.
TN 03-10-2019 @ 13 DegC:
Nearly 2 weeks open, but still good, still a light sparkling in the taste (also in combination with the acidity), now more towards the tannins and acidity en lesser to the fruit, but still very nice (for the price) and very drinkable. I stick to the approx. @ 18 DegC.
It can be made of local IT grapes, like Prosecco made of the Glera grape, but maybe also (among others in a blend) with Chardonnay.
It is not meant for keeping, but I think, it will keep for at least 3 to 4 years, however will it improve ?
At € 9 nice QPR, at € 5 a steal.

Firm No. 29146000
Verschiedene Produktionsstandorte.

89 POINTS

I was in doubt between 89 and 92 or even 95, since it is really very good. For it's simple good straight forward honey taste, it deserves 94 points, but since it is simple, not complex or with a great length it maybe should be 88 or 89. So I gave it two scores 89 and 95.

10/10/2016 - SOTERIOLOGIST favorite WROTE: 89 Points
Tried it again from a particularly good bottle of a friend. Lemon/bergamotte, vanilla and peat, but a tad too sweet, clearly ex-bourbon dominated. In direct comparison actually preferred the Bowmore 12 due to its greater, sherry influenced depth.
12/22/2014 - SOTERIOLOGIST favorite WROTE: 89 Points
On 12/20/2014 I am directly comparing this to the
Laphroaig 10
tasting in turns as I write this.
Glass: not amber but golden (this is a + !), perhaps like a Chardonnay, as befits a 10 y.o. non-colored Whisky which I think it is.
Nose: Light and clear, citrusy and with vanilla, but somewhat shy. The Laphroaig 10 is a bit oakier, drier and has more character, fullness and weight on the nose. But here with the Ardbeg you might almost think you are smelling a grappa.
Palate: noticeable distillery-bite on the tip of the tongue initially, but then the citrus, iodine, and in the length considerable saltiness. The very ash-like peat accompanies the whole trajectory until it finally gives way to the mostly lemony sweetness.
Yes quality, but between the two, it's the Laphroaig 10.

4/25/2015 - HSTAAL WROTE: 92 Points
WSET Level 4 Course - WSET School; 9/6/2014-5/23/2015 (WSET School, Bermondsey): Appearance: This is clear with a medium mahogany colour.
Nose: The nose is clean showing pronounced intensity aromas of molasses, treacle, syrup, toffee, sweetness, oak. This is matured.
Palate: This is off-dry in the mouth with warming alcohol. It has a full body and pronounced intensity flavours of Molasses, treacle, figs, prunes, banana, melon, orange, xmas cake, mocha, oak, smoke, spice, vanilla, toffee, burnt sugar. The finish is long and very complex. It has an oily viscosity and long mouthfeel
Conclusion: It is an outstanding quality spirit. Very Long and very complex, well integrated alcohol, good expressiveness, long mouthfeel. Premium priced (£43.95)

Really awful. Given that it's a cheap German table wine, but this tastes like it was made with synthetic grape juice. I've never poured out a bottle of wine that wasn't defective...until now. Just awful.
My comment:
Come on, it is not that bad.
Do not forget, this is not a normal wine, but it is an aromatised (dried/skin/peels) fruits, herbs, spices and sweetened (sugar/honey) wine. And it costs in DE or NL approx. € 3 to 4 for 1 liter ! (and you can also buy it cheaper as 4 litre cans).
I like it at normal temperature, but it is made, to drink it hot.

At € 35 (or even 40-45) worth the upgrade from the Gordon Rouge (Red Label) (S=86/100).
It is very smooth and does not have the rough edges / bitters the Gordon Rouge has.
Fits nicely in between the Gordon Rouge and the Cuvée du Centenaire at about € 80, which is even better than the Louis-Alexandre.
I also compared a 2 years open bottle of the Louis-Alexandre with a newly opened bottle (both no lot numbers), but no difference in taste.
Earlier on I compared two newly opened bottles of an approx. 25 years old and a new bottle of Gordon Rouge, also here there was no difference.
Also because of that I give all the Grand Marnier's a save 50 yrs in the bottle (or should I write 100 yrs ?).

Nice foam. Somewhat lighter body than I expected and hoped for, but it has balance. Fine mousse and nice acids, which are dominating in the sweetness. Very light alcohol taste, but not much for it's 10.5%. Nice lightly roasted and bitter malt taste. I did not taste wood or vanilla from the barrel ageing (it were all used barrels), but you can taste the backbone given to the beer by the barrels.
At 13-14 DegC:
The same, but now the sweetness more on the foreground and some wood in the after-taste.
07-04-2019 (after nearly 2 years (!) and yes, I wanted to keep an open bottle for 1 week or so to see what happened, but I forgot that I had this bottle, since it was in the back of a fridge) at 12 DegC:
Not so sweet with now some heavy burnt sugars / caramel and somewhat simple.
Conclusion:
A nice beer and I doubted between an 89 and 90 score, but for me at € 19 a little bit expensive (I want to taste more and I would have liked more complexity) and yes not for the production costs.

Very nice, also because of the higher than usual alcohol content and the somewhat lower sugar content for a liqueur.

Bij dit bier wordt ook wijngist gebruikt.
Deze Gulden Draak werd in 1998 uitgeroepen tot het beste bier van de wereld (but that is not the case for me).
TNs:

Good, with a light sweetness, which is acceptable for me and this is contrary to the Gulden Draak special releases, which are much too sweet for me.
27-01-2019:
Opens with a loud pop and still has enough mousse in it.
The fermentation a bit further now, since a little bit drier ?
But too sweet for me, so not my best beer of the world.
S=85 R=6.5-7(5.5) 2/4/19 M=now, since older it will most likely get even more sweet, but maybe it will also get a (little) bit more complex, which can compensate partly for the sweetness. And yws you can keep this beer for at least 10 years and most likely even for 15 to 20 years.

Really CS at exactly 58%Abv. and such a low Abv for a rather young vatted or single malt ?
However no matter what, this is a very nice whisky and bang for the buck !
Lots of peat and some smoke.
Clean, soft, smooth, no alcohol burn and no problem drinking it at 56 to 58%.
It also blends very well with the standard Drambuie, giving an approx. 50/50 blend with a bit of water a light fresh style.

Beste,

So Albert Heijn consumer-service contacted the brewery and (most likely since the 2017 edition) this beer is NOT Barrel Aged (!) anymore, but aromatised with whisky, however they did not change the label yet (by accident, haha) !

The brewer calls it an Extra Strong BE Beer.
Belgian Strong Golden Ale or Beer Ale Strong Golden Barrel Aged BE.
Some say it is an Quadruppel, okay it is 10.5%Abv, Tripel or a Brown Ale, but I think Strong Golden Ale is the better one.
Bovengisting.

Het verschil zit hem in de serveertemperatuur: 5°C (= party beer temp.) of 12-15°C (= desert beer temp., and yes, I agree, certainly after it got some air).
29-12-2018 @ 15.5 DegC
Nice, light sweetness, but somewhat too much sweetness in the after-taste, bitters from hops and most likely from the very black burnt sugar (caramel). Some vanilla and some whisky taste.
Also sweetness from the high alcohol, but that is integrated, part of the this extra strong beer's deal.
Although the high temp. very good drinkable.

My comment on 12/9/2014 - FANDL below: Sometimes it is too sweet for me too. But instead of ice, better add a whisky (cask strength, since sometimes, I also like to it give it more of a bite). Always difficult to find out which whisky (or whiskey from Ireland or USA) blends best, but quite often an island whisky will do well, since Drambuie is original also from an island, the Isle of Skye.
I find the 15 YO also very good, and yes that is certainly for drinking pure, but it lacks a bid of a bite, although its 43%. I find a bid too elegant, too smooth, but indeed the better older brother.
