Tasted blind at 1er cru Burg theme dinner - most guessed it had 10 more years of age than it actually did and a more northerly origin. Very enjoyable and a real eye opener.

Served at a blind Burg tasting event with seafood - feedback positive, ranging from estimated 80's vintage to early 90's to late 90's. Great showing!

A pleasant surprise stylistically - poured by the glass at Buona Terra SG. Intrigued to try again in several years after the oak further integrates.

Very fortunate to have enjoyed this- my friend had located this bottle through a London merchant and hand carried it back to Asia. PnP after careful extraction of the cork - sang from the glass just like that, with a captivating nose that only 50 years of patience can unveil. On the palate, this bottle was lively, not at all tired- opulent, with the fruit still evident and imparting sweetness, creating one of those rare experiences which can only be summed up as luxurious. Drinking at peak.

Good QPR and a classy, enjoyable standby - nice that it has a bit of age as well for something different (acquired Jan 2021)

Recommended by the somm at Taverna Palo Alto - drinking beautifully, a wine of character, flavor and class. A fine example of Xinomavro.

Picked up a couple from KL Wines - drinking beautifully, but no doubt will notch a bit higher even if you are more patient. Elegant style and more memorable overall than a number of ‘bigger name’ cabs I tried throughout the week. Well worth it if you can still track these down.

Raisin-y / amarone like. Not at all what I was expecting nor looking for, especially after the very solid experience I l previously had with a 2010. Perhaps a storage issue - noticed the bottle marked as 'from private collection' from K&L so that makes me a bit wary on older vintages sold by the aggregator merchants

Enjoyable but not as evolved as I would have expected (nor does it seem to have peaked, though may be on a long and not exciting plateau)

Well matured and aging quite gracefully - probably has not quite yet hit its plateau. An austere and classic style - probably best paired with very traditional dishes that are somewhat serious in style (eg truffle risotto)

Sampled during La Paulee SG 2020 - richness as expected from 09, but with poise and balance as well, which the table noted happily. Certainly a celebratory wine!

A spectacular treat, served at one of the tables at the (virtual) SG 2020 La Paulee. Turns out Bouchard would figure prominently this day (two mystery wines served later would turn out to be Bouchard). Magical on the nose - we could hardly break away from that to actually move on to taste the wine. Pristine and such a fine example of the magic of aged Burgundy. Drinking beautifully as well at age 41.

Served as a mystery wine at Singapore 2020 (virtual) La Paulee. Evolved with very marked medicinal and elixir like qualities. Most estimated late 90’s early noughties possibly Corton else Cotes de Nuits, but one keen taster noted the possibility of 2014. To reveal confirmed the more recent vintage, but surprising Les Cazetiers. Enjoyable as well as great conversation piece.

Served as a mystery wine at one of the Singapore 2020 La Paulee (virtual) tables. General consensus was ‘98-01 GC but one keen taster noted the possibility of 2014. Drinking very well in line with the pedigree - a revelation for 2014, and what a treat to be sampling from such a limited Bouchard bottling.

A tad on the tannic side still, veers toward modernity stylistically. Fairly enjoyable as a food wine, but could do with a bit more charm. Perhaps can gain a point or two with time.

A bit of secondaries on the nose, which was fun. On the palate, has that ‘pure’ and therefore not overly complex quality that seems prevalent amongst the quality German, as well as some Austrian, Pinot. Overall enjoyable - however, one is paying a fair premium for the age and olfactory secondaries versus the nearly equally tasty more recent vintages for comparable range of wines (ie. Non-GG classed spatburgunders), so it’s a matter of personal choice of age vs youthful, and Germanic style vs Burgundian.

Interesting, extracted and concentrated - reminiscent of Bordeaux style. Worth a try but nothing very notable about this vintage - worth trying a few different vintages to see what resonates (I think ‘12 was a touch better at the time). If you do pick this one up and have time, I’d wait - feels young and still slightly rough around the edges despite being pretty enjoyable overall.

Overall, very enjoyable - has a certain elegance to it despite initial impressions of being quite extracted in its style, but in a pretty good way. A pleasing example from this region which doesn't always show up on the radar. Recommended by the inspired somm at Cloudstreet in Singapore

Served at Cloudstreet - very elegant; on the nose, opens gradually and remains subtle. Some tartness at first on the palate, giving way to a more enticing faintly saccharine experience. Was recommended to pair with Cloudstreet’s new spin off menu at Kotuwa. Well worth a try!

Tannins have mellowed a fair bit - surprisingly sweet fruit. Enjoyable, if not the elegance or blockbuster quality I had thought there might be. Probably still a bit early to be dipping into this vaunted vintage. Look forward to slowly trying the rest of the case over time.

With air, quite enjoyable despite the less than stellar year - Lascombes did a very good job making the best of the harvest. Don’t hesitate to be generous with air and try enjoying it on day two. Ripe style.

PnP as I wanted to try this vaunted year without the steep price tag of its 'big bro.'. Quite enjoyable, but give it generous air to bring it to life a bit. On the austere side for my liking, but the air helps.
