2/1/24, 11:08 PM - Nontaco thanks for your tasting note much appreciated. With much experience with Grange this vintage is still considered a youngster and needs more time to develop. But if you want to drink a "young" Grange then I suggest at least 8 hours decant beforehand. Hope the rest of the case shows better.
8/25/22, 2:39 AM - Hey mate enjoyed your notes. I'm at Putney as well so if you have a spare space next time at Phil's ... more than happy to bring a couple of bottles from the cellar to add to the next tasting.
12/7/22, 12:02 PM - Hey Phil thanks for reaching out. Dropped you an email hope you received it?
3/5/18, 11:46 PM - Mate thanks for the tasting note. Bought a case of this on release and still haven't tasted it. Glad to hear you think it is ok!
11/24/17, 11:57 PM - Mate thanks for your tasting note. Although can't tell if you liked it or not? From your previous notes I think we have a similar palate and I bought a six-pack of this plus the Isle so am very interested if your liked/disliked. Haven't tasted myself as am holding more for long term drinking so would be interested in how you think this will be in 5/10 years??
12/2/17, 12:16 PM - Thanks mate ... time will tell I suppose! Fortunately I am in no hurry. On the Lafon, planning to do a mini vertical (3 vintages) with some friends over the holidays so looking forward to that. Will let you know how we go.
12/8/17, 12:35 AM - Mate you are more than welcome but we had planned the tasting to be up in Brisbane. If you are up there early January let me know! BTW enjoyed your Hunter write up ... like you ... enjoy the Mt Pleasant wines. I haven't been to Brokenwood for years but based on your reviews might check it out next time. Although on weekends, getting in the door is a bit of an issue!
11/3/17, 1:28 PM - Hey mate have a few of these in the cellar. Good to hear you enjoyed the bottle!! You mention surprisingly youthful. Do you have any thoughts on will it improve with more bottle age, and a future drinking window? Notice CT has 2016 as the latest it should be drunk!ThanksAndrew
2/3/17, 11:28 PM - Thanks for the notes mate ... have the 2009, 10 and 11 in the cellar. Agree with you, love this label and also Lafon Rochet from Bordeaux ... my two favourite bargains from the region. I pick this up regularly from Costco so you can try there if you need to find the current release.
12/17/16, 11:37 PM - Agree with your note. I really like this as well. Birth year wine for our daughter which meant I HAD to buy a case!
10/10/16, 8:46 PM - Thanks for the notes. Loved Planet of the Grapes while we were living in London. In fact had my leaving drinks here. Nice collection of wines to choose with only the 10 quid corkage. Need something like it in Sydney!
10/12/16, 3:31 PM - Yes had some very nice experiences with the guys from POTG. They also have a wine shop around Holborn which I used to frequent when living in London. One day I walked in and they instantly gave me a glass of red to guess. It was a 1989 Mouton Rothschild from Magnum. Now how many wine stores/bars in Sydney would that happen at?!? In regards to Coravin, I worked for a restaurant group in London and we had Coravin at a few of them ... remember having a meeting with one of the restaurant managers and we had a glass of 1996 Lynch-Bages and a 2001 d'Yquem over lunch. Hard life!
7/25/16, 9:17 PM - Alohashirt,Thanks for your tasting note. Totally agree with your views at this point in time. As you can probably tell by my User ID, I am a big fan of this wine and it needs at least 10 years before it begins to shine. I am currently drinking the 1994 vintage which has peaked and drinking beautifully. Hope you can find an older bottle!RegardsAndrew
5/28/16, 3:30 PM - Cam thanks for the note. In regards to your last sentence, did you mean "wouldn't" hurt it badly ... or do I need to drink these in the short-term?
1/31/16, 11:53 PM - Thanks for your note and glad you enjoyed the wine. However, I think this wine will only be entering it's prime drinking window come 2030. We had a bottle of the 1966 Grange a few years ago and it still had plenty of life in it ... and the 1998 is definitely a step up from this wine.
1/26/16, 1:56 AM - Cam,I to thought this was a pretty good wine even though not from the acclaimed 2014 vintage. Love your notes. Thanks for sharing.RegardsAndrew
1/26/16, 2:04 AM - Love what McWilliams's are currently doing ... following in the footsteps of O'Shea and letting the individual vineyards speak for themselves. Some fantastic single vineyard releases to look forward too!
7/12/15, 12:36 AM - St Hugo shows best at least after 10 years bottle age so I think you may have drunk it to early. Not trying mine until 2020.
6/15/15, 2:19 AM - Thanks for your note. Have an unopened 6 pack of this wine. How long would you recommend before I break it open?ThanksAndrew
6/15/15, 11:37 PM - Thanks mate. I will make sure I lose them in the cellar for a few years.
10/10/14, 4:38 PM - Mate, interesting to read you tasting notes for this wine. Thanks for sharing. Do you think this wine is past it's best or do you think your bottles may have been heat effected? Just asking as the CT drinking window suggests best before 2017. However, reading your notes I m thinking I should pop one to see how mine are tracking. Grateful for any feedback. Andrew
10/11/14, 7:58 PM - Thanks. You have convinced me to open one in the near future. Will let you know how it shows.
7/22/14, 10:52 PM - Thanks for the tasting note. Not sure if your bottle was cork or screw cap? This is a long term wine which should last for +15 years with ease ... under screw cap ... but variable under cork!
7/7/14, 10:26 PM - This wine is not related to Paul Hobbs in anyway.
5/8/14, 9:06 PM - Not sure how many bottles you have of this but I would wait at least 10 years before you open up another one. However, if you have plenty then fire away :)
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
