I have been wanting to try this @grgichhills Chardonnay for some time now and when I saw it was going to be part of a virtual tasting I couldn't resist.
The warmer growing season for this vintage lead to stunning tropical aromas of pineapple, mango and peach with a hint of vanilla.
Medium bodied, the palate has all the same tropical notes in addition to lime zest. The winemaker did not allow this Chardonnay to undergo malolactic fermentation, preserving the natural acidity.

I have seen some other winos mention salinity when describing a wine and thought...that doesn't sound like something I would want to taste in a wine.
Then I tried this beauty of a wine. @bodegagarzon is located in Uruguay eleven miles from the Atlantic Ocean and coastal influence is abundant.
This wine was deep purple in color with fresh aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and plum with a touch of spice.
On the palate, juicy ripe blackberry and plum, medium+ body, medium acidity and high tannins. Lengthy salty finish.

On the palate, you get fresh red fruit on the front end followed by dark cherries, spices and a hint of vanilla. This wine was well balanced with soft tannins and a medium body. The medium finish had a touch of mocha and a slight tingling sensation due to the 15% alcohol.

This was my first exposure to the Nero d'Avola grape from Sicily. I come to find out that this grape I never heard of is the most important red wine grape in Sicily and is one of Italy's most important indigenous varieties.

This @feudidelpisciottowinerelais is deep ruby red in color with an intense fruity nose of ripe blueberry, black cherry and pomegranate, with a hint of spice.

This full bodied wine is well structured with medium+ acidity and grippy tannins. On the first day, it came across as very fruit forward with flavors of blueberry, black cherry & plum. The next day as the wine opened up the fruit flavors gave me the impression of being stewed...think of raisins or prunes. The wine finish lingered with hints of tabacco & licorice.

Mostly known for producing world class Shiraz and a handful of other varietals such as Riesling, Semillon, Chardonnay, Grenache, Mourvedre and Cabernet Sauvignon.[

This Shiraz from @yalumbawine has a deep purple color and primary aromas of plum, cherry & hebs with secondary aromas of pronounced vanilla and black pepper from being aged in Hungarian, French and American barrels.

Not much on the nose. Not much complexity. Simple straight forward drinking Cabernet Sauvignon.

I was seeing a lot of praise for this wine so I had to try. Being a fan of other wines by Charles Smith I built this wine up in my head. Then upon the first sip, I knew I was not crazy about this wine..

I don't know about you guys but when I don't particularly like a wine that I was excited to try I feel bad. I understand everyone has different tastes and I'm not going to like every wine I try. I just feel like I am letting down the winemaker as they put in a lot of work to produce a wine. Is it just me or does anyone else have these feelings?

I will leave you with this, just because a wine gets a bad review or someone else doesn't like it does not mean you won't like. Always try for yourself.

This Barossa Valley Shiraz is a deep ruby red in color.

Upon sniffing, you are smacked in the face with jammy aromas dark berries with a hint leather.

On the palate, you are taken on a journey of your senses. When the wine first hits your mouth you think you just ate a spoonful of slightly tart blueberry pie filling. As you swish the wine the around it becomes a little sweeter as if you sprinkled a little chocolate on the pie filling. Then when you finally swallow the wine you taste a little pepper for just the right amount of spice followed by a little dryness from the tannins.
Just to leave you with a little tip - I know color plays an important part in wine but I did not know that Shiraz/Syrah produces some of the darkest wines in the world.

Aroma had fruity notes of black berries and plums with hints of spices.
