Cassis, dark fruit solid tannins. This wine borders on bordeaux like.

Great 1998 Calif cab.
The body is medium/full. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes medium.

Well, from a good vintage this showed very well, a bit of oak on first note that burned off, then a Bordeaux style with pencil lead cassis and earth. Fruit still there and this was a hit at our 1980's wine night!

For me a wine can't be rated that high if it doesn't resemble its varietal characteristics. Sure it may be tasty but when I open a wine I should be easily identifing it. This is new world all the way and not my style.
