This was the wine of the night amongst 95 Ausone, 98 HB, 08 Latour - this wine had all the cylinders firing at the right spot - the floral aroma, the fruits, the tannins, the subtle acidity to give it a kick. It was a good mouthful and no element overpowering. Gave a good 15-20 second finish with another 20-30 seconds lingering finish at the end. This wine was a cracker, provoking but still restraint. Another 5-10 years, I dont know, I would crack one now!

Still young and had decanted for an hour. Very rich, fruity, jammy wine, heavy on the palate and a good 20 second finish. Firm silky tannins and taste of blackfruits, spice aniseed, oak, vanilla, not earthy. Delicious. I give it lower than Ausone (1995) same night because it is too young right now. Premature but a a nice tipple.

Light delicate wine, floral bouquet with red berry juice aroma, on the palate, medium density wine, not heavy, not tannic but still lingers on. All the elements there and complex wine, however, the main thing about this wine, is sip sip sip, it is delicate and nice. Thought evoking wine.

- Ruby color. It's in total harmony with a full body. Polished texture with a long finish - A delicious rounded wine that does not show until 6+ hour decanting or more. Structured wine with fine grainy tannins, not too dry, copious amounts of fruits and restrained acidity that balances the tannins. Marvellous. Had with good medium rare steak.

This was opened standing 24-hour before, double decanted for about 12 hours. First taste was tart... still took time to evolve in the glass and definately needs food (fatty food so that the acid can cut through it). No fault of the wine, but this being my top Barolo, a bit disappointed. It is still a great wine, but angular. Maybe fruits are declining and acid is overwhelming.

This was opened standing 24-hour before, double decanted for about 12 hours. A very delicate wine, evoking semi-ripe cherries, hint of smoke, low to medium acidity, very supple tannins, well restrained. A solid 15-20 second finish. A pleasurable wine now but I would wait as this was still fresh. Wait how long There is enough fruits and tannins to carry it further 8-10 years.

This was opened standing 24-hour before, double decanted for about 12 hours. Wine was flawless...still punchy, has the dense ripe plums, cedar & tobacco, smoke flavor, chocolates..lots of it. Stays on your palate, linering on for a while 20-30 seconds or more. It took time to open up as the wine was just right after having opened it for 24-hours!
The body is full with polished texture.

Fruits thinning out, hardly any tannin or structure left. Crisp acidity which is not pleasant for a red wine and hollow middle finish.

Dont let the light color (like Burgundy) fool you. This wine was evolving so well that i had to slow down to take sips and savor each mouthful of it. Completely underrated and a great wine in terms of fruit, tannins, acid, intensity++ and length.

- It's balanced with a medium/full body. Flabby texture with a long finish - Not an easy wine to appreciate after having Bordeaux and couple of new world wines. But highly alcoholic wine (15.5%) and i think it is even higher. Warmed the back of throat. A meaty concentrated wine with brambly fruits of blackcurrants and blackcherries, good body and length lasting 20 or secs. Structure wise the tannins are not noticable, as well as the acid. Embodied in the fruits. Like!

- Ruby color. It's unbalanced with a light/medium body. Angular texture - Italian grapes are acidic. Period. If you open this one to drink without food, it will hit the stomach. My mistake. Not casual drinking wine. This needs food to go with. Ok red fruit flavours, low tannins but high acid. Reasonable intensity and medium length finish.

- Crimsom color. It's somewhat balanced with a medium body. Narrow texture with a medium finish - A nice medium body claret made by the Constantia and Cos team. It is an above average wine but predictably, new world nose of fruits, spice, oak and on the palate medium weighted wine, decent structure, only a tart acidic for me, but my partner thought it was ok. Value for money.

This wine is a ball of surprise package tightly bundled to not open for couple of years. Had this opened for over 12-hours and what a horgeous plummy, juicy, heavyweight wine it was! I could not have fault it. Deep purple, full of black fruits, high intensity in weight and body, a whopping 1-min gripping finish. Leave the wine to breathe. If you have any, lock it away for another 3 or so years and try again.

This is a wine from Languedoc region. It is highly rated by Mr RP (i think 92 ) i can see why. High alcohol, black fruits, some leathery tannins knitted with a tinge of acidity. Nice long 15+sec finish. No fault, great easy drinking, impressionable wine, and wish I bought more!!

This wine was decanted for about 2-hour at the infamous BISTECCA italian steak house, Hong Kong. This wine was full-bodied, intense on the nose and screaming off black fruits (blackcurrants, sweet black cherries), jammy, liquorice, dark chocolates (lots of it!), cinnamon spice, secnt of cedar with vanilla. And this was just NOSING it! On the palate, a well-structured, balanced and complex wine that had reasonable length of 15-secs lingering or long and went very well with our Medium-Rare & Medium-Done steaks and Grilled Barramundi! Interestingly enough, as we were nosing and enjoying the aromas, I noticed my wife was not enjoying the wine much. We found out that her glass was different (slightly more oval and open at top) and what a difference it made! The wine aromas were gone in her glass compared to the two similar glasses we had AND she was shocked too and agreed, her glassware did injustice to the beautiful wine we were having. No marks deducted for this as the wine was not at fault!

This was open with 2004 Le Gay during Lunch. The wine was medium red in color, nose was not so intense but red fruits jumped out such as raspberries, red sweet cherries, definite note of wood shavings, bit of forest floor and volatile acidic astringency. The palate was easing, but still very green and herbaceous, red fruits very notciable, drying, and needed some time to soften the tannins in the glass. On its own was tough but with food (here it was seabass, steak and lamb chops) it was going nicely. Still very good but I could not get it to 90 as the tannin and acidity were not balancing during the entire time.

Intense plummy blackfruit, blackcurrant, plummy, minty, gentle cooked jammy nose, evidence of oak and wood shavings on the nose. The palate was closed at the beginning but lots of concentration of the fruit, genetl acidity and firm structure - velvety tannins. It took couple of hours to open up but the intensity on the nose and palate held together. This was being compared to the La Croix de Gay (2008) (separate review) which was being had over lunch with seabass, steak and lamb.

Amazing!! Anyone, who wants to see the tannins, fruit and acid come together in harmony. Pour this and leave it overnight in a glass and drink it next morning for bfast! It was exquisite and jammy and wonderful expression of a st.julien wine. When I opened this the night before, it was decanted for about 4 hours already (I leave some in glass to periodically taste), and looked back at the ratings of 95, 97 and while I was tasting, I was not going to score morethan 85. It was harsh tannins and acidic finish, but still enough fruits to carry it. The wine was clear, ruby red of medium intensity, nose was restaint with dates, almonds, new oak. On the palate evidence of black fruits, dates, cigarbox, sweet spice. The taste the next day was similar except, the elements had come together to be jammy and pleasurable to drink. The tannins were complety soften!! Bravo. Yes it is outstanding!

Impressive wine, but too young right now. I had half a bottle and 24 hr later had the other half and it was amazing second time around. Clear purple, opulent nose of cassis, balckfruits and oak. Palate was tight and grip, like jam. The taste lingered on with firm tannins wrapped around the fruits. If not for its dryness, I would have added +2.

This wine was ooszing with depth and layers that one needed to take micro sips to enjoy this wine. Opened this wine about 90-mins before drinking, not much sediment and brilliant ruby colour with medium intensity. The nose was pronounced with screaming blackcurrant, black cherry, jammy with tones of pepper or spice. Had this wine with a rich 5-cheese baked macoroni and did the wine hold up, it kept evolving in the glass and we were drinking it over 3-hours (micro-sips!!) and enjoyed. On the palate, one will get rich balanced fruit with structure that last 15-secs, it ends with spiced finish like a finish in cinnamon tea - the shiraz in this wine makes itself known on the nose and palate and does not shy from the cab and merlot presence. The layer effect is when the wine hits your tongure, the first is the jammy fruit, then soft silky tannins, the fruit grip on the tongue and the dry spicy finish. Excellent par! Peak of its drinking!
