Excellent. Not at all past it’s prime. Bright and alive with a long smooth finish.

Lightly chilled, popped and poured. Intense nose of crushed shells and a little petroleum. Initially fairly crisp and mute on the palate but with a bit of time opened up to some classic Vigonier notes with balanced sweetness against tropical fruits. Not overblown but still very nicely structured. Good match with salmon pasta.

Chilled, popped and poured. Crunchy, buttery, herbal nose with a huge burst of character. Crisp mouthfeel with more butter, minerals, celery and a long finish. Very young but fresh and lively, drinks well by itself but paired nicely with grilled salmon. Surely lots of interesting life ahead.

Chilled, popped and poured. Cloudy in the glass but a lovely dense, deep, chalky, citrus nose. Intriguing mouthfeel and textures on the palate with a mix of citrus fruit, hazelnut and an almost limoncello-like consistency. Despite the cloudiness there is absolutely nothing natty about this. Super unusual and much more complex and exciting than your average Picpoul.

Deep, dark, dense Syrah. Nose of rich black olive, blood and tar but with a solid mineral core. Much more accessible on the palate, some smoothness but still an incredible amount of structure with dark black fruits. Good match with a rich liver dish and lots of life left.

Served at cellar temperature, popped and poured. Very unique. Fresh, bright nose of berries and purple fruits. On the palate this is super intense, smooth, fresh and packed with blueberries with a subtle but strong peppery undertow. Drinking exceptionally well now, right off the truck. No clue how this will develop but it was another ‘lightbulb’ Bedrock moment.

In complete agreement with the review below. Picked this up directly from the winery and it over-delivered. Lovely aged Cab notes, in great condition.

Classic Dehlinger structure and flavour but with a touch more sweetness and litheness than the entry level Pinot. Nice as a sipper but a great food match too, lovely with a rump steak.

High toned fruit on the nose with lots of ripe damsons and plums. Smooth mouthfeel and a really beautiful blue fruited finish with a big glob of blueberry and plum. One of my favourite recent Turley experiences.

Served from a seeping magnum in rather poor condition. Smooth but meaty nose. Great texture on the palate with a bit of bacon, beef fat and olives. Staggeringly good given the age and the condition of the bottle. So, what’s the story behind Liam Storey?

Toxic, murky pink. Tastes like a Belgian whitbier. So yeasty and sour. Not at all refreshing, needs lots of food. Very unexpected!

Popped and poured. Dusty, muted nose with a faint hint of red fruit. Initially very hot but gained some floral aromas with a little time in the glass. On the palate this is pretty dead, not a lot of fruit but a lot of sweaty socks. Feels way more tannic than fruity which is not good for a wine of this age. Maybe better with a decant, but overall not good.

Classic peppery, spicy zin. Not a lot of fruit left but a lot of intensity and a bit of tannin. In great condition, purchased directly from the winery this year.

Decanted at cellar temperature. Light edges in the glass but a deep core. Aromas of liquorice, graphite and chalk. Crazy tannins on the palate with a bunch of spice. Slight menthol finish. Incredibly full bodied, great with spag bol and most definitely a heavy winter wine. I think this has good ageing potential and will open up to more meatiness.

Chilled and then decanted 30 minutes before dinner. As soon as the ah-so touched the cork it slid straight into the bottle which didn’t give me much confidence. Decanting it showed a light golden colour and some dark sediment left in the bottle. But on the first sniff my fears were dispelled and I got resounding flavours of werther’s originals with nothing oxidative about it. Despite the age this really doesn’t have a heavy profile but it’s not exactly faded either. If anything I was expecting more tertiary/oxidative flavours but instead I got more toffee/fudge/marzipan flavours and the slightest hint of pineapple, but nothing on the scale of even the most subtle Sonoma Chardonnay. I don’t think this is going to gain anything more but this bottle was in a great spot and doesn’t feel like it’s going anywhere fast. Super match with pan-fried salmon.

Lightly chilled and decanted for an hour. Lovely colour in the glass, with a dense core but translucent edges. Fantastic pure aromas of red cherry, pine and layered undergrowth that just screams of the mountains. Rounder on the palate with some cocoa powder, mixed spices and a touch of cola but a long, intense finish. Personally I think this is great now (with some air and at the right temperature) but I’m certain it will continue to develop brilliantly.

Chilled, popped and poured. Very inky-blue colour. Funky barnyard nose with some black fruit pastilles and a bit of blackberry juiciness. Good acidity with a fairly neutral chalky finish. OH called this as a cool-climate Pinot which I guess isn’t too far off!

Initially a very unpleasant fragrant fermented prune note on the nose, which made me almost pour this down the drain. But I decanted and left it for five hours and tried it before dinner. Again there was a very pungent nose but this time it blew off very quickly and settled into a much more restrained mineral, graphite, pine and liquorice aromas.

On the palate there are still remnants of tannins and a very complex, tertiary flavours of fig and Christmas cake. An interesting journey, definitely best served on the cooler side and with some rich flavourful food like the pan fried liver and onions we had.

Very lightly chilled and decanted. Initial nose was very big but it quickly softened to something more round with notes of toffee, mango and dried pineapple. Not as cool-climate as I was expecting from the label, but this has a great mouthfeel and a long finish, with biscuit flavours and ripe tropical fruit.

Chilled and decanted. Creamy, slightly nutty nose. Crisp, seductive and round on the palate with some butterscotch and fresh pineapple. A fairly hedonistic finish but overall this is very balanced. Drinking very nicely now but I don’t think this is a long ager.

Poured at cellar temperature and decanted for an hour before dinner. Cork perfectly intact and not much sediment. Lively, ripe, dense nose of figs, blueberries and some light vanilla. Complete package on the palate with well resolved tannins and deep red and blue fruits with an echo of oaky barrel spice. Drinking very well now and not going anywhere anytime soon.

On the fatter/richer end of the scale for Pinot Gris. Lots of fat and a bit of botrytis. Not what I was expecting but this style is definitely my guilty pleasure. Great match with spicy peppers and meatballs.

Decanted for two hours and served at cellar temperature. Initially a very funky nose but this blew off by the time we served food. Then the nose was much more chalky with some graphite and blackberry. Dense but accessible on the palate with deep flavours of black fruits and a liquorice twang. Very contemplative and I think in its sweet spot.

Chilled and decanted. Very waxy mouthfeel for a Chardonnay. Nose of lemon and lime, opening up to more tropical fruit with some warmth, and some pineapple and sherbet. Aromas consistent with a fine vintage champagne with some age on it. Increasing richness on the palate with globs of pineapple and tropical fruit with some toffee. Served cold this didn’t taste at all like a Chardonnay, but as it warmed it got more classic and then exuberant. A very intriguing wine, drinking well now with lots of life left in it.

Lightly chilled and then decanted. Relatively light straw colour in the glass. Lemon, lemon curd and lime on the nose. Lightly chilled, popped and poured. Super dark colour, very deep dark ruby/pink. Very floral, inky, raspberry, deep, rich nose. On the palate this is clearly built as a red wine, and as it warms up it becomes very Rhone-like. Dense flavours of dark red fruits and rich flowers at the height of summer. Great with burgers on a sultry summer evening.

Slight seepage from this magnum so decanted for a few hours and served at cellar temperature. Crisp nose of earth, rocks, blackberries and a small hint of mocha. Still very robust on the palate with some smoked meat and a good mineral streak. Holding up very well for its age, especially with the poor condition of the bottle.

Decanted for four hours and served just a little too warm for my taste. Initially slightly hot and abrasive with dense tannins. With some time in the glass this displays notes of blueberries, cinnamon and liquorice. On the palate it opens up to give some smoothness and a bunch of chocolate and cigar flavours. Good match with liver but not with a sultry California evening! Clearly very young with lots still to give, a long decant and a cool serving temperature is required to enjoy now.

Chilled, popped and poured. Salty, citrus nose with a bit of wax. Similar on the palate, this improved with a little bit of warmth. Finished with a note I can only describe as being Roussanne like, waxy/lanolin with a touch of oak and citrus. Very nice, never heard of Arneis before so that was fun, this could age for a few years but drinks fantastically now.

Served at cellar temperature with a 30 minute decant. Initially a trifle oxidised with some Sherry notes, however this seemed to blow off or settle down with some time. Very faded nose but a little more structure on the palate with some light red cherries and cocoa powder. Firmly on the downswing, drink up if you still have any.

Brought down to cellar temperature and then decanted for two hours. The nose is extremely subtle but has very clear Zinfandel notes of chocolate, earth and rustic red fruits. Really not that full-bodied on the palate and this didn’t stand up well to a fairly mild spaghetti bolognese. Without food this has a light, contemplative finish. Not bad, but expected some more depth and complexity.
