Needed a lot of air. Needs some more time in the cellar.

initially the nose was raspberry, chocolate, and tree bark. on the palate there was blueberry, earthiness, with a touch of spice and tobacco. another amazing sqn pinot... only if manfred would bring them back.

nose of lychee and petrol, and on the palate pear, tropical fruit, touch of wet stone and honey, and minerality with nice acidity. it was amazing the weight and viscosity of this wine yet the silky texture. 96-97

was opened and decanted for about an hour and a half prior to drinking. the first smell was unbelievable... consisting of dark fruit, licorice, and a background of a touch of earth. i could have smelled this wine all afternoon, but tasting it proved all the better. The palate was an explosion of dark fruit and spice, with a touch of candied fruit and a splash of black pepper. it transitioned across the palate to a smooth, long finish that seemed like it wouldn't end.
On this day this wine showed perfect, and i don't know if i can find a thing wrong with it. it was so good it was almost addictive. to not drink more of this will take a lot of restraint.

On the nose lemon oil and a combination of citrus and tropical fruit. the texture on the palate was viscous and oily, with a combination of butter, citrus, tropical fruit, and finally some oak on the finish.

could smell and taste the viognier and roussane components. lychee, exotic and tropical fruits, honeycomb, and touch of butter. very rich, and wonderfully balanced. the nose only got better with time in the glass. this was a fun, complex, and interesting wine, and just a pleasure to drink. down side was an occassional touch of heat on the palate.

opened for 2-3 hours before we drank it over another 2-3. on opening a nose of dark chocolate. when we drank it the nose was just a hint of chocolate, fruit, earth and smoke. on the palate jammy fruit, pepper, chocolate, and i thought a little bit of earth with a finish that just hung around for a long time. the only possible flaw i could find was a touch of heat just before the finish, but it barely bothered me and went away fast. this wine was just awesome... it was powerful but had a reserved finesse.
it will be hard to not drink another bottle right away.

sat opened for about a 1/2 hour before drinking , and drank over 2 hours. nose of meat, dark fruit, spice, pepper. had great balance on the palate with fruit, pepper, and herb with a nice medium length finish and some soft tannin. the nose definitely reminded of me of a cote rotie. if i had more would definitely let age a few more years, or have let it open for a little longer before drinking.
