First bottle I bought for cellaring. I was in my internship. I kept it in my closet and transferred it to my ‘rich’ friend's cellar a couple years later.

Cost: $35 at the time, which was affordable.

The cork is short compared to current bottles.
It leaked half the length of the cork, not to the surface.

Color is medium garnet.

Aromas were medium at open and fading to light after 1-2 hours.

In the mouth, licorice, blackberry, leather,

Tannins make my taste buds pucker tightly and there is some iron on the long finish.

Cork intact and firmly springy.
Garnet tinged deep ruby color.
Light aromatics, blackberry, suede, strawberry and apple, and pomegranate.
On the tongue, vibrant acidity and the tannins are crisp and angled. They grab the gums on my molars.

It’s a pretty wine that is still youthful.

Medium red-purple color. Very unique.
Medium aromatics with raspberry and strawberry. There is also a Cayuse funk and some of ganache early in the show.
With deep focus, I pick up lite clove-cinnamon and orange peel spritz.
In the mouth it’s medium bodied with a bit of both culinary sage and wild sagebrush.
I prefer Grenache and Zins when they are young, spiced, and fruity.
My score is on the conservative end.

Dark ruby color.
Raspberry, blackberry, dill, and dryish sour tannins.
The aroma is fantastic and uniquely amazing.
It smells like Korean BBQ and lavender.
Overall, the flavor is in your face and a little overbearing, and the aroma is a definite wow!
If paired with the right food, this could be amazing. This would go great with anything from Southern France, Provençal wood roasted chicken is what I'm wanting to try this with...The French make wine that pairs with food, and this one is no exception.

The cork was brittle and adheared to the neck of the bottle.
Aromas were muted.
Flavor profile showed graphite and dark fruit with medium tannic structure.
Overall good but subtle cork taint likely resulted in this bottle not showing as well as it should.

Sulfer and matchsticks were pronounced at first and a vigorous decant was used to help it dissipate.

Apricots and butterscotch at first and then creamy with green apple. Later, after aeration, there is almonds, apple, marzipan, and freshly skinned small game.

That faded quickly and it became more mid-to low toned with it’s aromatics.
Tanins and acidity battle it out, and the acidity eventually wins.
There is currant and blackberry fruit, plus some meaty notes.

What a surprise to find this in the cellar.
The cork was soft and there was 1cm seep.
Aroma is a little reserved, sawdust and decayed wood, some petrol, and hints of grapefruit and lime.
In the mouth its sweet and lively with lemon and grapefruit, pretty well balanced.
Finish is short and while not complex, it’s very easy to enjoy.

Day#2, still good, now with a little peach. Better after some air.

The is a little bit of horse manure sweetened by grandma My’s burning incense in the air as she mantras to her past relatives and Buddha..
The complexity is wonderful.
The tannins give it a dry bite at the end making this a food wine, not a cocktail stand alone beverage (i.e. serve with food).
