To all who condemned the 04 Rion Les Charmes sorry to say this wine has actually opened up and left behind all the green notes, and is actually in a beautifull spot right now. Archtypical Chambolle on the nose, cool palate, coating mouthfeel and sublime lenght. Tasted with oven roasted chicken and celery root pure. Thumbs up and gives even higher expectations for both 05 and 06 which all have a long life ahead.

By far the most accessible and enjoyable young DdC I have tasted. Pnp with Entrecote and blue cheese sauce... Excellent drinking, cool fruit, good lenght and just a great expression of Graves minerality and finesse!

Needed abit of decanting time - then showed very well. Delicate and lovely pinot, still young obviouisly but perfect match to roasted duck chest with baked unions and blackcurrant sauce.

From Magnum. Simply outstanding champagne and one of my all time favorites. Recent bottles showing much better from magnum than regular with delicious mousse, toast and perfect for food pairing. Served as apertif with foie gras and smoked salmon cream on toast

Opened 2 first 0,75 bottles of a 6 btl box aquired 3 months ago. Both totally flat with immidiate sulphur attack. Suspect and fear remaining 4 btls will flaw too, but still have a hope I have been just unlucky. Have enjoyed this wine immencly over the past year and recently had a 96 from magnum which was outstanding.

Stunning nose with layers of deep dark fruit bursting from the glass in CdP style. Cool but still balanced despite its 15% alc. Impressive Effort.

Dissapointing Thin and uncharming from this otherwise very reliable producer. Does not bring much hope for the 2010 vintage in general.

Lovely nose of cranberries, tobacco and wet forest floor. Remarkably focused, great finesse and mouthfeel with abundant fruit and long aftertaste. Not at all jammy or over ripe which could be expected from this vintage.
Complemented the suckling lamb carrè just superbly. Wow, this wine is really coming together now. Great effort

It finally seems to have come together offering a complex nose dominated by dark fruit and pain grille. A delicious mouthfeel and acceptable lenght with dusty tannins that match any tomato based disch superbly. Drink or hold, storing has really paid off here.

This wine is more about finesse than power. It has surely put on some weight since my last bottle last year and in fact showed much better than I hoped for. Not there for the long haul, but not at all jammy as much else 03 I have tasted.

Nose of grapefruit combined with some peach notes. In the mouth crisp acidity, but rather hollow and short. Good overall, but very difficult to get excited about this wine.

Deep red in colour. Bursting bouqet of black currants, notes of spices and nicely integrated wood. Medium to full body, not overwhelming in any way, but good concentration and tannic. Needs more time - hold for 3-5 more years.

Upfront Sangiovese nose with sour red cherries and toast notes that jumps out of the glass. Deep red colour with no diminished rim. Still tannic and bit tough, but already showing good potential and seems to be on the right track. Hold for 2-3+ more years.

Not sure if it is just me who doesnt understand this wine or? Served with scallops and aspargus at 12-13C. Nothing on the nose, flat and lifeless without any inspiration or nerve. Some nutty notes on the mid palate, but short and totally a bummer in my opinion.

Opens up with inviting nose of black currants and creme de cassis. In the mouth still an infantile with fruitconsentration, good acidity and gripping tannins towards the end that lingers. I admire the wines from Domaine De Chevalier very much and was very pleased to find that this wine captures much of the character, minerality and complexity I seek from Pessac Leognan especially in a blessing vintage like 2005. A wine to stockpile and to enjoy over the next 10-15 years.

Decanted and let to breathe for 2 hours. Pure, consentrated, layered and completely unresistable with a nose of black currants, toasted oak, pencil shavings and floral elements. In the mouth so smooth, big and espressive yet so balanced and finely grained with a lasting finish that just goes on. Eventhough it drinks wonderfully good now this wine will surely develop even more complexity and weight with some more cellaring.

Dark red in colour with no signs of diminishing rim. In the mouth this wine bursts of red cherries, lots of red cherries nicely intervened in oak and crisp acidity.Medium body with great character and much more elegant than I would have anticipated. Surprising youthfull and lively with enough acid and fruit to carry it many years ahead. Good lenght with rather aggressive tannins and a mouthdrying finish. I give it another 5 years before I crack another bottle; by then it might have matured and developed more depth and complexity which I feel is missing at the moment in order to really call it an interesting wine.

Slight TCA noticable on the nose, but left to breathe in the glass for a hour before tasting. Delicate, developed nose of black berries, forest floor, spicebox and cedar. Brandy style mouthfeel of spices and slight alcohol heat; good lenght and paired very well with dinner of moose fillet in redwine reducted creamsauce served with mushroomss, cognacmarinated raisins and celeryroot purè.

Decanted for 4 hours then poured back in the bottle. Colour very deep dark red almost purple. First somewhat closed on the nose with gripping tannins and huge concentration. Later openened up with very delicate nose of dark berries, bitter chocolate and nicely integrated wood. Good lengh, but at this stage not showing much finesse and complexity which will only come with time. Forget about this wine for the next 5-7 years - For sure this will be a great wine down the road.

Pretty much in line with my previous notes for this wine. However a bit unsure about the wood integrity on this particular bottle. There is a distinct wood element combined with black currants and hints of vanilla/dark chocolate that seemed abit overwhelming and not so well structured as my previous bottle. Nice lenght and body. Still an infant in my opinion and think this wine will develop nicely.

Characteristic, fine Chablis with mineral and crisp clear nose. However this wine is lacking any sort of complexity and length, and falls through on the mid palette never to recover. Decent table wine to pair with any seafood, but really not doing very much more.

Nicely integrated nose of dark fruit, spicebox and wood. In the mouth medium body, but comes across a little one dimensional and lacking depth. Still firm tannins that I think will integrate nicely with the fruity character of this wine over time giving it more complexity. I give this wine abit more time before making up my mind. Still a VERY decent wine especially considering PQR.

Rich multy layered complex nose of dark fruit, vanilla, spice and toast. In the mouth concentrated, medium to full body, but lacking elegance and comes across somewhatinbalanced as excessive use of oak combined with lots of fruit concentration is not coming together fully. Medium finish. Good , but not so impressive anymore after having tasted other RdD recently.

Straight forward SB offering a rich nose of green apples, hints of citrus and grapefruit. In the mouth delightful, medium body with lasting finish. Drinking very wel now, and I prefer to drink it young as I fear its lack of acidity will have trouble maintaining freshness in this wine in the longer perspective.

This 65% Merlot, 35% Cab Franc, 5% Cab Sav is pure and fruitfull on the nose offering nicely integrated wood with hints of licorice and herbs. In the mouth it offers a velvety smooth texture with nicely integrated tannins. Still a bit mouthdrying, but probably at its plateu of maturity right now and to be drunk over the next 1-3 years.
A short mid palette and finish prevented this wine from reaching higher scores, but all in all a very impressive and delightful tasting experience.

Tasted against the 99 which as anticipated was easy match after the massive turnaround in quality from 00 vintage. Colour deep red with a very layered and perfumed nose. Lots of fruit beautifully balanced in the mouth. This wine is drinking very well now with a medium+ finish, still offering mouthdrying tannins and consentrated yet delicate fruit. I have great expextations for my last bottle of this wine which I think will stilll go along way from here.

Much the same as my last tasting of this great estate. The 02 comes across with a rather big, complex nose of vanilla and wood. The fruit seems somewhat cloaked by the extensive use of oak, but the wines remeains pleasant with mellow tannins and a medium+ finish. Elegant and balanced as expected from DdC, but the 02 remains in my opinion a vintage for consumption within the next 5 years. Good, but not a stunner.

Ruby red colour, classic Chianti nose of red cherries, oak and vanilla. The wine is still young offering little on the nose, but seems to have become more balanced since last time I tried it. Still abit short on the mid palette and finish leaving me with the impression that this is a good everyday wine with some development potential.

Colour ruby red with garnet around the rim. On the nose hints of dark cherries and smoke, but later the alcohol and oak became much to dominant killing all the fruit with the heat. Medium body with short finish. This wine is lacking complexity and not pulling it together leaving me the impression this is a rather poor effort especially considering price and vintage.

This wine has matured well since last time I tasted it. Pleasent balanced bouquet of black currents and vanilla that superbly accompanied a roast steak with ginger and rosmarin roast potatoes . It drinks very well now and I guess the wine will gain more weight in coming years. Well worth the price and a good place to start if you're looking for a decent Bordeaux without selling your farm.
