Big dark and tannic. Sweet black fruit, cedar, some baking spices and soy sauce on the nose and palette and then a tannic blast. It actually has mellowed since last bottle.
Red
aromatic fireworks- cool blue fruit, sassafras, coffee bean, green stemmy notes, deep earthiness, complex and always evolving. Silky and exotic on the palate.
White
A goldish, brown with an almost red tint and a slight haze. Marzipan, olive, concentrated baked apple supported by a salty-sweet acidity. Spot on with cheese.
White - Sparkling
med light gold w a greenish hue. Crisp but with a distinct roundness and yeasty, pastry undertones

A shimmering medium gold. Vibrant with a nervous energy; crisp, mineral driven, balanced, well put together, citrus with chardonnay fullness of flavor. Buy again

WRT to the note from 2018. The pale gold has turned to a rich medium gold. The green sour apple has turned to baked red apple, olivey notes now pervade more than just on the finish. A juicy acidity makes it an incredible accompaniment to rich and runny cheeses.
Red
scorched earth, tar, cherry; extremely complex aromatics. Cool and elegant on the palate with super fine tannins; concentrated flavors.

Beautiful gold color. Silky mouthfeel. complex, mellow melange of aromas and flavors-baked apple, brioche, yeast etc. Everything perfectly integrated together. Really in a class of its own.

PNP. Good aromatics. Lots of tannins and the fruit has faded. better with food and could have used a decant.

Saturated medium purple color Serious structure. Tomato leaf, bell pepper, red cherry tightly wound up with great grip but totally approachable. Faintest notes of oak in the background? Spectacular.

A serious affair. Depth and concentration of flavors with dry woody tanins; serious grip. Leaning more towards Bordeaux than burgundy. Love it.

Deep gold. So complex; balancing the suggestion of sweetness with juicy acidity. Full spectrum of chenin aromas/flavors. Long way to go.

last of my early 90s Rubicons. after a one hour decant, it was singing. Velvet mouthfeel, soft, smokey, with ripe fruits and a lot of complexity but a little short on the finish. Started to fade after a couple of hours and was passed in the backstiretch by the 2002 LVB. still quite a showing.
