I guess it can be called a marked improvement when this wine gains 5 points from my last experience back in March. So....congrats...? Oh, and to be fair, the Caymus beat out a 2015 Wente Nth degree Cabernet from Livermore. So again.... um...congrats to the Caymus.....??

If French kissing a Holstein Cow was a wine, it would be the 2015 Caymus Special Selection.

11/24/19, 2:07 PM - I have owned it for a few weeks, stored properly on my end. bought it from a reputable place north of sonoma, however I do not know how it was stored before they got it. I won't be spending time trying to figure that out... got more wines to try :) It wouldn't surprise me that this issue is related to storage... wonder how yours is in proper storage?

Taste with Matt, NPs and chef Gabe. No notes. WTF this is unreal and on a another level already. Should probably rate this higher than 95 right now but had this right after an amazing espresso chocolate soufflé that did everything in its power to try and deflate this wine- nope Black punched back and won the round. Have one bottle left that will have to do a proper taste later this year. This is supple goodness and pisses me off they are sold out. 95++

2011 Harlan Estate The Maiden Napa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend

The wine had a relatively high acid in comparison to its fruit profile which almost gave it a thin impression. Over time in decanter the fruit profile came forward more but the acid remained relatively high. There was generous oak but used very judiciously where it did a great job to change the tannin profile but not infecting the wine with oaky flavors. This wine was pulled in presence of Napa wine lovers and most of them did not enjoy this wine. I however thought it was a very beautifully balanced put together wine that showed finesse without overbearing fruit profiles which is all too common in Napa today. Despite enjoying this wine I do not think one can justify the price easily.
