Easy bottle to drink but sometimes feels a little overdone. It has citrus, minerals, acid in abundance and might be too much for someone looking for a lighter, more elegant styled chard.

Needs more time. Thought it was better on 2nd day.

Very fresh, some lime, white flowers and minerals on nose. Palate has some additional butter and caramel. Good for casual drinking or starters.

Colour was scarily murky. Should have let it stand for a couple of weeks. ALIVE! Red cherries, mushroom, herbal on nose. Palate is somewhat similar if a bit past prime. Acid was still holding the entire wine together.

Clearly past prime. Nose has some cardboard. Fruit has faded. More secondary now with some leather and earth.

Still alive! Nose is herbal. Palate has some cherries and good acid. Feels a bit like sour plum, with herbal notes and some chicken essence. Perhaps a tad oxidised. Fades after an hour.

Also much better than the previous bottle. Drank alongside the Torbreck Factor 2003. Completely different. This has a meaty, sauvage character with a mineral undertone. Secondary notes of leather. Evolving in glass and going strong. Can easily last another 5 years.

Much better than previous bottle. Still alive and rich. Hint of prunes, plums and black olives. Spices is also showing through. Perhaps not as much complexity as one would expect from top Syrahs but a very good showing.

Floral, rose, dark spices on nose. Palate exhibits dark fruit, spices, cinnamon and has some sweetness on the finish. Very elegantly styled.

Rustic, floral, spices, red cherries. Given time, the earthy notes show. Palate is still a little tight. Red cherries, very nice fruit. With air, more expressive. Suggest air in bottle for pop and pour instead of decanting? Getting a bit medicinal with herbal character. Still evolving in glass though not getting much better. LB HA LT MF

Very good drinking. Dark fruit, pencil shavings, stone, spices. Palate is still fairly fresh and has some chocolate. In its prime now, held its own against a very impressive flight with Latour 1985 and Cheval Blanc 1985 which were showing more potential but less evolved at this point.

This bottle won from auction was disappointing compared to the last bottle which was ex-chateau. Classic old bdx, blackberries, old leaves, some leather. Fruit is beginning to thin out while acid remains high. Improved with air.

1st anniversary with the missus. Decanted 1hr. Classically Paulliac with notes of graphite, green vegetal, smoky charcoal, still very fresh, underlying dark fruits. Palate is similar, blackberries, a lot of pencil lead, but has good sweetness. Acid is a bit Low at this time but tannins still giving a bit of structure. Very well resolved. Drink up soon though. The finish is a bit short and mid palate is a bit diffused. MB MA LT SF

Pop and pour. Remarkbly fresh. Could have been 20 years younger. Nose of berries, undergrowth, dried leaves, smoke. Palate is dark cherries, licorice and some dark choc and leather on finish. Finish is a little short though. Gets better over time. Bravo! Well kept bottle.

Stood for a couple of weeks before opening. Color was dark orange. Was originally sour cherries but once it warmed up a bit, there were berries, some leather and the floral notes of a barolo. Palate was also cherries at first but gained some leather, dark choc and spices over time. Slight coconut on finish. Sligtly syrupy but still well balanced. LB MA LT MF

Herbaceous notes, dark berries and some licorice. Noticeably more integrated than the last bottle but tannins are still somewhat harsh.

Nose of cherries, some floral and earthy notes. Palate was cherries, blueberries. With more air, some iron and cinnamon. Overall, a tad light and unstructured. Paired really well with the duck liver which highlighted the fruit and florals.

Dark berries and green vegetal notes on nose. Palate gives berries and pepper. Feels a tad light. Tannins need more time to integrate. Decant before drinking. Best with meats or heavy sauces.

Give the bottle some time to breathe before deciding. Still dark purple. Originally herbaceous and evolved to show some dark berries, smoke and cinnamon on the nose. On the palate, it was still fresh with dark fruits (which turned into prune about an hour later) and some cinnamon and leather. Continued to improve in glass. Take your time to enjoy the journey.
