Excellent place right now; deep garnet, lots of dried fig, sweet tobacco, candied cherries, hints of anise. Absolutely magical right now. Decanted for 45 mins at room temp. Did I mention the dried fig? Because there's a lot of it.

Black currants, ripe plums, smoked meat, bay leaves, bell pepper, black pepper, and ripe raspberries. Round tannins, incredible depth, and long finish. 1 Hr decant, and this was ready to roll. Good now (96+).

Unctuous, yet racy. Lychee, pear, green apples, oranges, lime pith, pepper, with a long creamy finish. Loved the mid-palate spiciness.

Licorice, bell pepper, white pepper, baking spice, cedar box, black currant, and blueberries. Initially was a bit closed, decanted for 3+ hours (at room temp) and it really came together. Sweet and soft tannins. Moderate finish. Really good now, but would benefit from a few more years of cellaring.

Ripe apple, pear, melon, lemon, toasted biscuit, and hazelnut. Medium-plus finish of melon and hazelnut. Really nice and creamy finish. Acidity could be a little higher.

dark berries, chocolate, and creme de cassis on the palate. Silky tannins with a nice and long finish. Tannins are non-existent at this point, just about to enter the 'age of wisdom' for a cab.

Baked apple, lemon, smoke, hazelnut, vanilla, and oak spice. Nice. Solid QPR would pick up more at 30 dollars

Bartlett pears, Granny Smith apples, lemon pith, hints of crushed stones, with buttered toast and white peach on the finish. Very impressed with how crisp and refreshing this was.

Medium intensity ruby color with notes of ripe red fruits; raspberries and strawberries, bell pepper, and tobacco on the nose. On the palate, soft and silky tannins give way to sweet raspberries, dried strawberries, and chocolate with an elegant finish of dried herbs and white pepper.

Elegant and pleasing. Dark berries; black cherries, blackberries, blueberries, vanilla and chocolate. Silky tannins. Very straightforward, no-nonsense merlot.

Initially a bit closed, and opened up after an hour of decanting. Black currant, black pepper, violet, dried bay leaf, long finish of firm tannins, red berries, and licorice. Would love to see how this turns out with a few years of cellaring, all the stuffing is there, just needs a little more time. Would definitely buy more to hold.

Super ripe cherries and dried strawberries, hints of oregano and vanilla...absolutely delicious, I would rate this higher than Cirq (another Michael Browne pinot). Structured yet elegant, playful yet reserved. Incredibly rounded, with no hard edges. It was a little pricey, but after tasting, it was worth every penny. A great Pinot, could wait two years as stated in the insert, but why? Live a little.

Surprisingly good, considering it was way past its drinking window, it was elegant and smooth; tobacco, coffee, dark chocolate, and dried mushrooms. Beautiful.

Decanted for about 90 mins. Lots of dark fruit; blackberry, black currant, coffee, creme de cassis, and capsicum. Tannins not quite integrated (in a good way) added balance and structure to the fruit and high abv. This thing is really singing now, but I tend to like my cabs on the young side, will wait 18 months to open the 2nd bottle. This bottle should cruise another 10 years, but tomorrow isn’t guaranteed and today is a gift, so just enjoy!

I had already placed my online order and then went for a tasting, I was disappointed after the tasting, basically lacked any structure and was not the HS that I've been accustomed to. Although I was disappointed at the tasting, the highlight of my visit was that I got the opportunity to meet John Shafer.

So I decided to open a bottle, wasn't expecting much, but it turned out to be the same massive HS that I was used to. PnP, notes of blackberry, currant, and cassis. Rounded tannins gave this a nice lasting finish, went extremely well with my A5 wagyu beef. I would definitely pick up more bottles of this vintage in the future.

Decided to revisit this bottle six months later. I was quite disappointed in the first bottle. This second bottle was much better, black cherry and raspberry, and a very straight-lined finish. Medium to light-bodied and elegant. Lacked a "wow" factor, but good nonetheless. At this price point, I don't see much value from this bottle.

Very subpar, no hints of cherry nor blackberries. Very light-bodied, completely lacking in structure. Did I get a bad bottle? We'll see, because I have a second bottle.

Incredible wine as always, rich and velvety. Blackberry, cherry, and non-existing tannins give way to profound richness. Beautiful dark purple, requires no decanting.

Can’t go wrong with this one, way to end the year with this bottle. Still room for aging, incredibly full bodied, blackberry, cherry and currants.

Tasted 2nd bottle 6 months later, tannins have rounded quite nicely. Upping the rating at a solid 96. Drinking very well now.

A bit soft for a cab, lacked the robustness that I'm used to from other Realm wines...still good nonetheless, as long as your expectations are tepid.

Pretty good. Lots of blueberry and some notes of cherry in the finish, it does lack structure in the finish probably because the tannins have mellowed out. High alcohol content.

Initial taste was a pop and pour, felt disappointed, maybe it was because I just had the 2010 Realm Dr. Crane that I had prior to this tasting. But after a 5 hour decant, it opened up very nicely. Slightly more refined than previous years. Wine shows nice structure, with fruit and supple tannins, with a very nice lingering finish.

Hints of chocolate and currants, not as full bodied as past years. This vintage leans more towards traditional Pinot. Very well integrated now.

Great wine, I would say that it is peaking about now, very supple tannins and fruit forward...blackberry, cassis, some leather. Overall delicious. Drink within the next few years is my suggestion, I have another two bottles, which I am sure to finish by then.
